CEO Orla Hendricks has a very sexy proposition for devil-may-care billionaire Cameron North in this third installment of The Billionaire’s Club quartet—six weeks to help her discover her wild side!
Handsome young men blowing their newfound billions in a decadent frenzy? I’ve seen plenty of them at the Ÿberexclusive M Club. But there’s something different about Cameron North. Tall, toned and tanned, he looks like he’d be more comfortable on a surfboard than in the boardroom… And imagining him without the constricting tux is waking up my long-neglected sexy side.
It isn’t long before I’m getting my wish as we explore the instant chemistry between us. But one night with him just makes me want more. So I give him a proposition—six weeks of hedonistic sex and glamorous destinations, then we’ll go our separate ways. He agrees—as long as I agree to give him control of our fun…
But as we jet from casinos to horse races to masquerade galas, Cam is becoming more than just a sexy diversion. When the six amazing weeks are up, Cam makes his own proposition. But how can I risk my heart on the only thing I’ve ever failed at—a relationship?

Orla and Cam's story is sexy, steamy and everything you'd expect from this author. I love the action, drama and angst this story delivered. Cam is that dominant alpha male you go weak in the knees for and Orla is sassy but not arrogant.
JC has a way with her words, her descriptions make you feel every emotions, see every detail clearly. I am looking forward to her next book.
It was an interesting premise but I never really felt the connection between the main characters. Overall, a fast read bit without any emotional.payoff.
Quick read. Good story. The chemistry and attraction between the characters was really good. It was fun watching them work their way to the HEA they deserved. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
The Proposition by J.C. Harroway is a sexy ‘one night stand becomes more’ romance for two members of the exclusive M Club, and a great addition to the multi-authored Billionaires Club series.
Orla Hendricks knows that she has trouble letting loose. She’s a workaholic, driven by the need to prove to her father that he should have given her the reins at their family company. Instead, she’s gone solo, a successful venture capitalist with clients all over the world and a membership at the M Club for billionaires only. She’s already had a failed marriage so she’s wary of getting involved in another committed relationship. When a handsome stranger catches her eye, she decides its time to have a little fun.
Cam North’s inheritance is a weight he’s trying to ditch. As a long time construction worker growing up poor, he’d made his money with his hands and heart until his absentee father left him a fortune in his will. Now he’s spending it all on fast cars, wild card bets and any number of hedonistic pursuits. When he and Orla connect, their one night together is an erotic adventure. And when Orla proposes that he accompany her on a business trip for six weeks to various exciting locations with the offer of no strings sex, he’s game as long as she’ll follow his rules. But Cam soon discover he wants more from Orla – can he convince her that what they have is worth keeping permanently?
I loved this story! The setup is great, with Orla and Cam both originally thinking one night on a first name only basis will deal with their insta-lust for each other, only for Orla to decide she wants to make things last a little longer. This is an older woman, younger man romance, as Orla is 36 and Cam is 28, but the age difference is not really emphasized and they are definitely equal partners in the relationship. Orla may have been the one to proposition Cam with a ‘man-toy’ type arrangement but he’s quick to make it on his terms. The sex scenes are exciting and varied with some exhibitionism and sex toys to liven things up.
Though the couple meets at the M Club in Monaco, they make stops in several exciting locations, including England, Switzerland, Dubai, and Singapore before they end up in their home town of Sydney, Australia. Along the way, they have several steamy sexual encounters (as befitting their arrangement) but Cam also makes Orla take time to enjoy the sights and sounds of each of the places and do things she’s never done before. It puts her workaholic ways, and her need for approval from her father, into perspective, but it also scares Orla with how she’s starting to feel about Cam. It’s she who pulls away and must come to the realization about what she can have with Cam, and then work to make amends.
As for Cam, Orla helps him come to terms with his feelings about his father who abandoned him as a child only to name him as the heir to his fortune, and how he can get around the restrictions in the will to his advantage. He wants a future with her, and he’s not afraid to tell her so. They get their well deserved happy ending after a few bumps along the way. Sexy, exciting, adventurous and with a dose of emotional angst, this is a very entertaining and enjoyable read.
Well I’m clearly in a minority here because I just found this boring with under-developed characters, a scanty plot and not particularly erotic sex scenes - all wrapped around a travelogue which never actually made me feel I had travelled anywhere.
I was thrown out of the story when they flew from Monaco to Zurich and spent a long time having sex. Flying time between Monte Carlo and Zurich in a private jet is 38 Minutes! Not very realistic I thought.
Having read the first 2 books in the series and absolutely adored them, I was really looking forward to this one. Jackie Ashenden and Caitlin Crews are 2 of my favourite authors and they certainly delivered the goods in the first 2 books, but sadly book 3 did not reach that high standard.
I thought the original premise was good and I was looking forward to seeing how it would all play out but I soon found myself bored and starting to skim paragraphs. Orla was basically boring. Cam was marginally more interesting and I actually found myself feeling sorry for him when Orla rejected him - but sadly neither of their characters was properly developed.
It wasn’t all bad but it was only 2.5 stars for me. I have read many other Dares which have been so much better. We can’t all like the same things so I’m happy to be the odd one out here.

THE PROPOSITION is certainly hot and sexy with two strong personalities in Cam and Orla, part of the multi-authored The Billionaires Club, we once again make our way to the M Club for the newest addition to this quartet. Harlequin’s DARE line is super sexy, no holding back hot and steamy, if that’s not your style of Romance then consider this your fair warning of what is to come.
The attraction between Cam and Orla is instant lust that will slowly over their weeks together turn into something more – but for now, this couple will burn up the sheets with Cam firmly in control. Each is a billionaire in their own rights, one hard worked for, the other family money and trying to go through it as quickly as possible. Both have definite father issues that have shaped their lives to a large degree. Orla knows hard work, accomplishment, dedication and the determination to make her father proud of her – that’s an ongoing battle that she may need to rethink constantly fighting and settle into her own worth. She has little time for fun and has propositioned Cam to travel the world with her for a set amount of time filling in the times between work with hot, demanding sexy times. What neither expected was to move beyond the lust into something more and, frankly, that scares them both.
I enjoyed my time back in this world. And if you love a hot, sexy romance then THE PROPOSITION is definitely for you.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
There's no question that this Dare erotic romance is very well written. It is chock full of steamy, sizzling, extremely descriptive yet fairly tasteful sex scenes. It stars wealthy Cam (younger by eight years) and Orla, a 36 year old divorced businesswoman looking for a few weeks of 'stimulation' after their initial encounter at a Billionaire club in Monaco. There is a lot of inner dialogue where our H/h mostly think about each others bodies, or the sex they had, or are going to have. Did it hold my complete attention? No, unfortunately. I didn't connect with the characters at all - especially Orla. There are lots of 5 star reviews for this book, so really, it probably depends on your mood when reading this story as to how you rate it - or in fact, how many romances in this genre you've read. I've read so many over the years that these days I really get bored reading a ten chapter sex fest without much else happening. The story is told in first person from both points of view. My thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest opinion.
With book three in The Billionaire's Club quartet from Harlequin Dare, JC Harroway brings us THE PROPOSITION where a hardworking workaholic CEO meets her downfall in a party boy!
Orla is quick to draw a reader's attention as a strong, assertive woman. She feels slighted from the past and works hard day in and day out to prove her worth.
Cameron wants everyone to think he's a frivolous playboy but he has a real side to him that can't stay hidden when he's spending time with Orla.
I recommend this book to anyone wanting a quick delve into temptation! It's fast paced, attention grabbing and has a major tender side! Really enjoyed their story!
Wow, so totally enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down. Forget any kind of chemistry experiment meant to heat things up, Cam & Orla are absolutely explosive together. I love how their meeting starts out as just one night but then turns into more,.....way more. Both are battling demons but when together they seem to become less important. The growth of Orla was amazing to see, as she begins to learn that work isn’t the only important thing in her life. For Cam, his inheritance is causing him pain & trying to spend it all isn’t helping until Orla shows him how he can use it for good. Their heat factor is off the charts as they travel & enjoy each other. Lessons learned in this book.....love is there for the taking, all you have to do is look up & move towards it. This has been a truly sexy, enjoyable read & is a great addition to this very sexy series. Definitely recommend. I received this book from the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review.
So yeah, steam is what the DARE books are known for, and as the third book in the Billionaire's Club world this book more than delivers. Each is a standalone book, though, with its own HEA.
In this story, Cam and Orla burn up the pages as they search for happiness they don't even know they're missing. This was a wonderful story, full of heart and heat, and I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
A steamy hot romance between two incredibly wealthy beautiful people! Cam and Orla both have issues, to be sure, with their fathers and as a result with relationships so it seems like a sure thing that they can travel together for 6 weeks as well, friends with benefits. Hah. You know from the first chapter that's not gonna happen. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Try this one for escapist reading with just an incredible race of a racey plot.
I challenge any hot romance lover to try and put this book down during Chapter 1! What an opening!! It had a real James Bond feel and effortlessly played out like a movie in my mind's eye. I absolutely loved it and believed every hot, damn second! The entire story holds you just as captive. Both Orla and Cam have messed-up family backgrounds to face up to, I loved Cam's "grounded" occupation going up against Orla's super-successful, corporate one, the contrast was so powerful and added to the dynamics both in and out of the bedroom. This pair knew how to shake this up and get down, hard and dirty - phew, scorchio!!!!
There is so much I want to say but I don't want to spoil it for the reader, suffice it to say there were moments in the story where it surprised me (just as much as Cam surprised Orla), and it turned my heart to absolute mush.
I really mean it when I say this one is packed with both heat and emotion, everything I've come to love about a JC Harroway book!
A romance story full of steamy moments and well deserves HEA. I enjoyed this book more than I was expecting as it was my first by the author and didn’t exactly know what to expect. The characters are very well done and the writing keeps you engaged. The power balance is good as well. Looking forward to more books by the author.
I. Loved. Orla and Cam’s story! While they both are wealthy now, it wasn’t always that way for Cam. They meet one night at a Club M event and that’s where the proposition is presented. So starts the 6 weeks, no strings, get Orla to relax romp around the world. Immediately you could feel their chemistry jumping off the pages. While there are plenty of fun, steamy and letting their hair down moments, there’s also some seriousness thrown in as both struggle with deep rooted family issues. These group of authors write so much alike that you cannot even tell they weren’t written by one single person. I am ready for the final book. I’m sure Imogen has one hell of a story to be told.
Orla is by turns interesting and a bit annoying. She's the workaholic, commitment-shy CEO, which is a nice subversion of the usual billionaire storyline. After their first night, she propositions Cam. She's older than him, and for once this actually worked for me, I wasn't grossed out, kudos to the author for that because that's a trope I usually hate. But she is also very stuck on her flawed ideas of herself. I can understand how she'd come to be that way, but it needed more depth and nuance. Failing that Orla came across as just stubborn and blindly stuck in her ways.
I appreciated that the book didn't shy away from portraying the sexism Orla had experienced even in her family. My mother has experienced a comparable deeply unfair treatment by my grandfather, so it felt only too real.
Cam is hot and a sweetie. He's caring, respectful of Orla and her hang-ups, easygoing and funloving. He never feels threatened by Orla's being older or a successful, powerful businesswoman in her own right. But he also wasn't a pushover, and he stood up for what he felt he deserved. He was a good hero.
Where the book comes short is that it's a little unstructured and repetitive. The characters have sex, travel to a new place, angst over their one Personal Issue, do something cool or glamorous, probe into each other's Personal Issue, have sex, travel to a new place, angst over their Personal Issue, do something cool or glamorous, probe deeper into each other's Personal Issue and have a little quarrel. I do appreciate that they weren't horrible to each other when they quarrelled, it came from a place of caring, and they tried to be respectful and not hurt the other. But as you can see, there is a lot of repetitive angsting on their one Personal Issue during and after and in between every interaction. Which would be fine if there was growth, or nuance, if it were fleshed out, or completed with more characterisation. But each character has their Personal Issue and that's the sum of their characterisation. It makes them quite flat. The story is short, so we're just watching them spinning their wheels with their problem, waiting for them to have an epiphany and get together as they clearly are meant for each other and just need to realise it. It does mean there isn't much tension.
Having said that, it is a sweet, low conflict story, these two are clearly great together and it's a pleasure to see them finally realise it and relax with each other. I ended the book happy and confident they would live well together. The writing in this one is solid and serviceable, it doesn't distract from the story.
I must apologise in advance... *bites lip* but my ovaries were in charge of this review.
*holds hands up*
It’s not my fault.
All hail the DARE Gods!
Have you ever looked at a book cover and wished that it came in a 3D version? *snorts* Well, if ever a book screamed for 3D-lushness, it’s The Proposition. My fingertips were tingling with the thought of following those *coughs* contours *winks*.
Whaaa? I told you – it’s the ovaries!
With the arrival of ‘A Week To Be Wild’ back in 2018, JC Harroway has been a force to be reckoned with, and imho, she outdid herself with Cam and Orla’s story.
“For a few glorious seconds I suck in calming breaths and simply enjoy the view.”
Calming breaths??! Oh Cam, I feel ya! I had to take a few of my own *wipes brow*.
Older female-younger male? Yes, please! Along with six-weeks to explore their earth-shattering (or, should that be earth-moving? *snorts*) chemistry. Chock full of thigh-clenching goodness. Quite simply, The Proposition is the stuff dreams are made of *sighs*.
As well as being h-e-l-l on your lady bits (whaaa?), TP doesn’t half tug on the old heart strings. Appearances can be deceiving, and outwardly Orla and Cam may seem to have it all. *shakes head* If only that was true.
Both are striving for that elusive ‘something’. Belonging, acceptance, peace – whatever you want to call it. Like recognises like, and their souls speak to one another. Cue involuntarily leakage from your tear ducts and lumps in your throat. Well, if you’re anything like me you will be *shrugs*.
I loved how they challenged one another, not just in the bedroom (bedroom is a very limited term *winks*), but in every aspect of their lives. No matter the pain, for our own happiness, we sometimes have to confront that which hurts us.
I’m sure The Proposition will be a winner for all readers of JC Harroway, old and new, as well as lovers of the DARE imprint.
A friend (who shall remain nameless) and I were reading TP at the same time. Let’s just say that our messages should not, and will not see the light of day, but I did think of the perfect hashtag for this story that sums it up perfectly. *coughs* Here goes, it’s #breakoutthebob
The Proposition is part of a loose series by a number of authors. The stories involve people who belong to the M club. An exclusive club for the incredibly rich with sites around the world where they can relax and play. This story is about Orla who has little time for anything other than work and Cam who has inherited a huge amount of money after the death of his father that he doesn't want. When they meet one night at the club and have an amazing night together, Orla Propositions Cam, asking him to accompany him across the world helping her to relax in-between her work. He agrees as long as she agrees to leave what they do down to him. Orla and Cam make a great couple, they both have their own issues with their fathers, but are able to begin to help each other work past them together. There are eight years between the two of them, but although Orla is the older, in many ways Cam seems to be the more mature. He certainly had his life together before his inheritance. Orla does little beyond work and her whole focus is proving herself to her father, who to be honest is fairly disinterested in her. I enjoyed the way this story unfolded. Although the attraction between them was instant, it took much longer for love to develop and sometimes that just works far better in this kind of story. It was a great read and I'd certainly recommend it. I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you, Harlequin Books, for providing me a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Orla isn’t in the market for a long-term relationship, but when she hooks up with sexy Cameron, a short-term affair seems like a harmless indulgence. Cameron, struggling with his father’s legacy and trying to figure out who he is now that he’s mega-wealthy, insists on a few rules if he and Orla are going to be together, but his desire for her is undeniable. Their time together will end, and falling in love definitely isn’t in the plans.
This story is an ultra-sexy fantasy lovingly detailed on the page. The sexy times are graphic and very fun. Both Orla and Cameron are unabashed in their sexual desires, and it’s refreshing to see the heroine as the character taking charge, then the hero stepping up to the plate with a few qualifications of his own. There’s a lot of money being thrown around in this story, and no expense seems spared with regards to travel and food, etc., but in the end the tale rests nicely on the relationship developed between Orla and Cameron and the growth that each has to do – that each is willing to do, once they meet the other – so that they can act on the feelings that grow between them and move together to a happy ending.
Definitely recommended, and I can’t wait to read Harroway’s other Dare novels!
I recently discovered Harlequin’s DARE books and i had a lot of fun reading about the different vacation destinations visited by our hero Cam and our heroine Orla. In this particular book both Orla and Cam are billionaires in their own right though Orla is so driven she can’t slow down long enough to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Cam is exactly the opposite. He’s inherited his money and he’s determined to spend it as fast as he can because he didn’t want anything from his now deceased father. For separate reasons these two love birds think they’ll be able to walk away from each other at the end of their 5 week getaway but you know they’re just fooling themselves. As far as I’m concerned it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand there’s no walking away from their happily-ever-after. I read an early copy of this book through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
Urk! This pair. They’re perfect opposites and perfectly perfect for one another. Both Orla and Cam have some deep-seated issues with their fathers that have managed to color every relationship in their lives. Can Cam’s more free-spirited approach prove to Orla that she doesn’t need to work so hard; doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone? And can Orla show him that his inheritance isn’t a prison sentence? This is one of my favorite kinds of stories: where our leading couple think they’re going to escape without being infected by emotions. You know from the start that that they’re going to learn just how uncontrollable life really is. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through NetGalley.
Out-of-this-world amazing. I was absolutely hooked. sexy!....CEO, a player and commitment-phobe romance with hot-under-the-collar action and all the feels! Author has hit this genre on the head and totally deserves more stars. If you like you stories hot, hot, great characters, sexy plot and HEA guaranteed then this book is for you. Happy reading!!
Great book. It’s an amazing story, with super steamy sex scenes, but with great characters you root for. I really feel that in love with Orlando and Cam. I can’t wait for the next book by JC Harroway
Lola was at a party where the hosts expect you to mingle, asking random questions to strangers for obscene amounts of money. Lola says she will do anything for a ,illion dollars except anal and be a sex slave for a year. Lola doesn’t feel she fits in here. A nerdy girl engineer in the thrift-store little black dress that’s her gotp for social functions requiring heels. This is the glamorous side of Silicon Valley - successful, extroverted deal-makers. It’s also a pond stacked with fat, captive fish and Lola needs to toss in her line and pluck one out. Instead of schmoozing, Lola watches from the sidelines. She doesn’t do “People” well. People are best in small doses. Plus the VC guys judge relentlessly from the moment she starts her pitch. She is expected to provide thirty second soundbites, answers about how the company she founded is going to contribute to the greater good, and make tons of money in the process. Coding is much easier. The basic premise of the networking event is simple. Collect business cards and make introductions hoping to score a request to come back and interview for the big money during business hours. Lola than notices a familiar face. It’s Maple who guides her to some business prospects she wants to change business cards with. Than she won’t let Lola leave after she’d done what she had come to do, she had passed out and collected twenty seven business cards Lola was thirty one and felt like she was the babysitter that failed to make good. She had just founded her first company so she didn’t have time for anything but work. Than Lola thought she was going back to her window seat and she lands on a thigh and a man grabs her to help stabilize her. This man definitely sparks Lola in all the right parts of Lola. Dev thought about how he closed a major e-commerce at the Friday mixer despite crazy chick’s -Lola- drenching and that means more stock options, bigger bonus, and the hugest possible gold star. People claim his surfer boy outside in no way matches my CEO insides. That I'm a cranky butt who routinely demands near impossible coding heroics from his people. Dev asked what was the cause of someone stealing their brand- new- e-commercial-code? The explosive e-code the pre-sold to rtwelve major online vendors? Dev asked how? Than dev believes Lola stole his code and he shows up at her office. Lola company is Calla Enterprises. Than Dev realized was the woman who crash landed on him friday. He realized Lola was hot. He stares at Lola’s to do list in his mind. Dev found her touch her more. Is electric, making his hands itch to touch her more. Lola hired dev as an intern she was supposed to have an interview with, not knowing who he really was. After she thinks about it she feels Dev is a bad idea. But how can she fire him? Not only does she need his brain to sort out bugs inher software, but she has no legal ground to fire him for his hotness. The grumpy butt part gives her material to work with, but Lola needs him. Jack and devland have been best friends since freshman year of college where they shared an apartment and a major in computer science. I enjoyed this book. I didn’t like that dev didn’t tell her the truth about himself and instead she found out from an ex hook-up. I did like how Dev and Lola interacted and I liked them together. I liked Dev and his friends also. I liked that dev helped Lola get some founding just because of who he was. I thought the ending was a little rushed but still liked it. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.
Okay, despite the mixup over which book this is, I loved it. I read Her Intern. Dev is a hot mess of a guy, but somehow it works. Lola is one of my favorite female characters ever. She's quirky, sweet, naive, and strong. I enjoyed watching them fumble their way to a HEA as much as the steamy scenes.
Even though I liked this romance, I kind of wanted more. I wanted more interaction, and more chemistry between the protagonists. It was a quick read. I received this advanced reader copy from Netgalley for my honest opinion.
