It's no Necronomicon but this was my introduction into the supernatural/paranormal at the tender age of seven. I still dig it out every now and then and peruse the forbidden knowledge contained within. There's a wide range of material within, from the old technology like the Baghdad battery and the Antikathera mechanism to theories about Atlantis to psychic phemonena to Anton Le Vey and Satanism. I have a feeling my mind was irreparably warped by reading about such things at a young age.

I used to devour Readers' Digest books at one point of time in my teens, and take what they said as the absolute truth. Now I know better - it is all shoddy, sensational reporting with embellished and twisted facts.

By the time I reached this book, I had become a diehard sceptic and most of the stories left me cold. UFO's, Atlantis, ESP... how many times can you read about the same "evidence"?

If you are a believer in dangerous truths covered up by government conspiracies, you may like this book.

There's a lot of material packed into this book but it was all super interesting since most of it dealt with the paranormal. It was like a little textbook of the paranormal and I enjoyed a lot of the history and tales in it.
