I gave this book 4 stars because I really enjoyed it, even though it was a simplified version. The story is about Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy and how they misunderstand each other at first. Both of them are a bit proud and quick to judge, which causes problems, but that’s what makes the story interesting.
Since this is a graded reader, the language is much easier than the original. That actually helped me focus more on the main events and relationships without getting confused by difficult vocabulary. It was easy to follow and didn’t feel too long.
Of course, because it’s shorter and simpler, some of the deeper emotions and smaller details were missing. The characters didn’t feel as complex as they probably are in the original novel. That’s the main reason I didn’t give it 5 stars.
Overall, I think it’s a great version if you want to understand the story in a simple way or if you’re learning English. It’s still a sweet and interesting story about love, mistakes, and changing your opinions about people.
I read this in within an hour... Damn... Wanted to read this to see if I would get interested in reading the actual story. As you guess, I'm not 😬... I REALLY need some good convincing to read the original.
Quite an easy but rushed read. The book rushes throught the story, and yes I know it is a book for people wanting to learn the English language by reading, but the stoey could have had some more details.
