Sometimes the only way forward is to reach back through time.

Of one thing Erin is certain: the troubles her family are facing are about to get a whole lot worse. Between her little brother being sick with a mysterious illness no one can cure and her parents growing more distant by the day, Erin’s only sanctuary is the powerful older boy she likes, Kieran. But the bubble of attraction he keeps her under hides a dark secret.

Then one big mistake throws Erin’s already precarious situation completely upside-down and threatens to destroy everything she holds dear. Her only options to save herself and her family both seem impossible: reach out to a girl locked in another time or a girl from another world who possesses remarkable powers.

But reaching out to the impossible may be the only thing that could save everything she values from breaking apart.

Reach is a paranormal time travel novella - the starter story in the irresistibly compelling Tandro Series.

It is perfect for anyone who loves YA, Science Fiction, time travel and thrilling twists. And in Naomi E Lloyd's unique style, there's a dash of romance and magic in this fast-paced imaginative series.

Naomi E Lloyd is a writer who loves exploring both the dark and lighter sides of fantasy stories.

Where her debut series, Tandro, takes readers on a coming-of-age fantasy romance across another time and realm, her more recent series, Death Kiss, delves into a dark, supernatural world, full of deception, magic, and seductive twists.

But whether finding the light or delving into the dark with her fantasy stories, there is a common thread that weaves the dark-light themes of her storytelling together: connection--the journeys that shape rather than break us. For whilst her characters face tumultuous challenges, and sometimes traumatic experiences in her books, it is their resilience and determination that makes their journeys so transformative.

Formerly a law student at Warwick University, she started writing her debut series, Tandro, after the story concept kept popping up in her recurring dream. This was a multi-faceted story she couldn't let go of and one that sent her on a research journey across the world, to bring the story to fruition and finally realise her real-life dream of holding a book she had written in her hands.

Three books later, it was via another vivid dream that her next series, Death Kiss, was born. A dark fantasy story she felt so compelled to bring to life she wrote down the blurb within moments of waking up.

As a believer in listening to your dreams, Naomi's stories transport you into other worlds and times, give you characters you either root for or love to hate, and treat you to endings with unexpected twists and turns.

Although born in Yorkshire and a northern girl at heart, Naomi now lives by the historical beaches of Portsmouth, where she can often be found in a café, tapping away on her laptop or walking along the sunny promenade with her camera in hand.

I just finished reading Reach, a great Novella that drew me in from the very first page. It's fast paced and there's a lot of elements to the story that make it really hard to put down! I finished it in just 2 sittings. I loved the main character, Erin, and the parallels that were drawn between her and her mother's lives. There's A LOT more to come from this series and I will be first in the queue for the next installment...I hope i don't have to wait too long!

I loved the metaphysical elements of this book. I've always been a great believer in the mastering of the energy around us and how it can be used for our betterment or to hold ourselves back so I found the premise of this book fascinating. If you love the Celestine Prophecy and enjoy the paranormal romance then you will love this book. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

Remember who you are, where you come from and what you can do.

I liked this book a lot more than the first one. Even thought its clear you need to read that one to understand the links in the story.

This time we follow Erin’s story, a 15-year-old girl in the year 2015. She and her family moved to London from the US a year ago. With a father in a high politic charge and a wonderful mother, together with a little brother with 13 years, they were the perfect family. Or at least they were until her brother got sick and all the attention from the family was turned to him.

“Erin, honey, as you’ve just heard, the word ‘diamond’ originates from the Greek :Adamas’, meaning ‘indestructible’. And that’s what we are. We are a diamond family, tightly bonded together like the atoms of carbon inside a diamond. Nothing can break us!”

Erin never complained about this because she thought it was the right decision. However, she inevitably began to feel alone. Especially when the dreams came back. Erin, and apparently her mother before her, had strange predictive dreams, showing her both past and future. However, lately dreams had turned into nightmares and always included a woman in them: Parador, Tiegal’s “sister”.

Erin’s escape was her boyfriend, who she kept hidden from her family for being older than she. (He was 28 years old. Disgusting pedophile!)

Everything collapses when Erin overhears her parents having a conversation with a strange man with a purple haze around him, who proposes them to save their son in exchange for Erin’s mother doing an “exchange” with him. Her parents accept, prompting Erin to make a very serious mistake. Unable to seek help from her very busy and now not-so-trustworthy parents, she accepts the help of Parador, who has now appeared in real life. But does she really plan to help her?

It is not such a fantastic book within everything. In the sense that Erin’s problems could happen in any family.

It’s really easy to empathize with Erin as she watches her family fall apart. She feels lonely and in her desperation for protection she ends up in the clutches of a man that she herself knows does not love her. Also, she must watch as her perfect parents start to show flaws, while dealing with the fact that her brother, her life partner, is fighting for his life.

The relationship between Erin and her mother is very moving. Even when Erin fails to communicate directly with her, they find a very nice way to communicate.

Although Erin’s problems make it a somewhat dense book, full of betrayals. It has a rather pleasant outcome. However, it seems important to me to mention that it includes many allusions to sex and adultery, in addition to Kieran’s psychological abuse of Erin. It does not have explicit content.

Here's a little spoiler of the poem Erin makes for Kieran in her physics class: 'Erin is an electron reacting to Kieran', and that made me laugh hard, besides it explains very well the electron's behavior. 😂

*Thank you to Naomi E. Lloyd and Voracious Readers Only who sent me this free box set in exchange for an honest review.*

I’m going to be honest, I was not a fan of this book. It felt really pointless and I just couldn’t enjoy it. After having read the the third book, it does relate and their are important features. However, I was just not a fan. It felt very disappointing after having finished the first book of the series.

‘She had to embrace what had happened to them all, to see it in all its craziness and let it shape her into something even stronger.’

This book is about Erin, a descendant of Tiegal and Johannes and again has the them of intimacy and connection running throughout. Erin is sixteen years old and instead of hanging out with people her age, she is dating a twenty eight year old. This book deals with very serious themes of adultery, grooming and paedophilia. However, it made me very uncomfortable reading it and I understand that it was part of the story, but it made me not want to keep reading.

This book felt like a filler. Erin has dreams of Parador, a character from the first novel. The villain of the story but in this she appears to be the saviour. Whilst I did not enjoy this, if I hadn’t have read it I would have been confused in the second part of the third book.

I loved this book. The struggles Erin goes through in her normal teenage life really tugs at your heart strings. That, coupled with a meddling paranormal entity who may be there to help or hinder...really has the reader on the edge of their seat. Looking forward to the next one :)

Erin was just digging herself in too deep. I just couldn't stand to follow her as she followed some incredibly bad choices.

The teenage years are never easy. Erin finds this out the hard way. Why is it so easy for her to recognize a problem in others, yet be oblivious to her own similar problems? She is confused and frightened until she slowly works things out. This is a great intro to this new series.
