Overall this was a good book. Enzo and Kai have been through so much. Sadly it's only going to get worse. We still have 3 more books to go and the competition has now gotten more intense. It will be interesting to see how things will go since Enzo was trained for this but Kai wasn't. Plus the ending was crazy and it will be interesting to see how that will play out in the next book too.
This series gets more intense with every new book!
First a note: This book is part of the Truth or Lies series and must be read in order. So before reading this book you must read; Lured by Lies (Book 0), Taken by Lies (Book 1) and Betrayed by Truths (Book 2). This is an intensely dark and twisted series and I highly recommend it!!!
After everything Kai and Enzo have been through with each other, one more betrayal just seems fitting. This betrayal forces them to go into hiding and be in even closer proximity of each other than before. They still have to worry about the game they are playing in order for one of them to be named Black and run the empire. Plus things from their pasts continue to come to the surface and throw everything off. Each one is dead set on protecting the other and they do stupid things to accomplish that. This book is intense, twisted and oh so edge of your seat exciting I couldn't put it down. I am so looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Stolen by Truths. If you haven't started this series yet, What are you waiting for? Grab the first book and take the plunge, you won't be disappointed!!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow what a great read in this fascinating cant put down series. The twists and turns are just incredible, love, hate, loyalties and betrayals are worth all 5 stars. Just who will win and who will lose? I can’t keep up with all the twists and turns and don’t know how the author comes up with all she has. I wasn’t going to read this series as the first Ella Miles books I read was the Dirty Series and I did not like it but I gave this a go after the many great reviews and I don’t regret it for a minute. Miss Mills is now a firm favourite of mine. The only bad thing is having to wait an entire month for book 4. I don’t think I can stand the wait! I can thoroughly recommend this series and can only add just read it you won’t be sorry.
Seriously. This tale just gets more twisted with every turn of the page...and I love it!
I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say this. Sexy times? Oh, it’s delicious. Every girl needs an Enzo in the bedroom. Nail biter? I need a manicure after reading this. You’ll be holding your breath, too! Tissues? Have some handy. *looks at a scrunchie and weeps* You’ll understand after you read this 3rd installment in the Truth or Lies series. I’m assuming you’ve read the prequel and books 1 and 2... and if you haven’t, get to it! The books of this series need to be read in order - they are NOT stand-alones and each ends on a cliffhanger. Trust me, you want to read this. You do.
Back to holding my breath until book 4. And it is killing me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I don't know how Ella Miles does it but each book in this series is better than the last! I have never rooted for a couple more than I do for Kai and Enzo. I love how we get more of Enzo's background plus the added POV from two key characters. Each book leaves you on the edge wanting more. I need Stolen by Truths now!!!
Angsty Twists And Turns Continue In Book Three Of Enzo and Kai’s Story! Their Chemistry Heats Up The Pages As They Become Consumed With One Another.
This is book three of six in the Truth or Lies series. Each book reads like a roller coaster, with unexpected gut-clenching twists and turns. Enzo and Kai both grew up in a brutal world, but one was raised in luxury and the other in extreme poverty. They have an undeniable connection, but every time they cross paths or begin to drop their defenses, something seems to pull them apart. There are many questions and many lies, but answers do come with patience. The books are best read back to back since the plot is very complex. This review attempts to summarize earlier books as a reminder for readers that didn’t just finish the prior book in the series.
From book one:
The myth that surrounds the Black name in Miami and beyond is legendary, demanding both fear and respect. Danger defines Mr. Black; ruthless describes him. He rules Miami, where he runs Surrender, an invitation only club where deals are made by the high-powered members of the underground that frequent it. Mr. Black also runs many other clubs in Miami, has a fleet of yachts that he deals with, and runs a security firm. The fleet gives him access to the lawless waters of the ocean as well as the world beyond Miami.
Enzo Black, seventeen, drinks to numb the memories that haunt him. He grew up in comfort and has more money than he will ever need, but his life has not been easy. As the son of Mr. Black, he knows he has an image to maintain. There is no room for feelings for someone like him. He has blood on his hands. His father has trained him in the family business for years, expecting that Enzo might one day take over. His second hands happen to be his two best friends, Langston and Zeke. They all grew up together, so having his trusted friends at his side in a dark world dominated by older and experienced criminals provides a welcome level of comfort. Langston is more brain, while Zeke is more brawn. But both are loyal. They are family.
Katherine Miller, sixteen, hasn’t’ been to school in weeks. She is old enough to opt not to go, so she has been going less and less, choosing to work and steal instead. Food on the table and rent for the trailer she shares with her father rank higher on her list of priorities than her education. First on the list, however, is paying off her father’s debt. She loves her father despite the lack of warmth in their relationship. She remains loyal, even though they’ve had growing pains. Kai’s mother died from cancer when she was small, but she had fought it with everything she had before succumbing to the disease. Her death left Kai’s father with a debt in the millions. The debt collectors have to be paid, and some are shady. Kai knows one day she will have to pay with her body, but she will continue to delay that inevitability as long as possible by stealing.
When Enzo and Kai meet by chance, they both feel electrified. Enzo’s feelings come to life despite himself, and Kai has never been so attracted to a boy before. But when they meet again, the circumstances are not by chance. Enzo has a job to do, and Kai is his job. Kai has questions, but he doesn’t seem to have answers. He promises to let her leave town, but in a cruel twist of fate Kai is taken and sold to a cruel man named Jarod. Years later Kai is back and she wants answers. Enzo has answers now, but doesn’t want KaI to know them. They play a game but Kai loses. Instead of getting her answers, Enzo now owns her. He keeps her and sees to her health, but his trickery isn’t over. The two play a series of games of Truth or Lies as a means to get answers that neither willingly wants to share.
Just when Kai begins to recover her strength and the pair begins to bond, her whole world is turned upside down. She learns what Enzo meant when he said becoming the next Mr. Black is earned, and he confesses he didn’t actually earn it because he let her live six year ago. The next Mr. Black will earn his or her place according to the rules set forth by the last two to compete for the title: their fathers. The Rinaldi and Miller families have competed for the title for generations. As only children, Enzo and Kai must compete, since it is now known that she is not dead. There will be five competitions, each with a clear winner. Three out of five wins the title. Outside of the rules, there are no rules. It is a dangerous game, meant to flush out the weakest and leave the strongest to run the empire until the next generation of Rinaldis and Millers comes along.
In book two:
Enzo and Kai must run Mr. Black’s empire together until a winner is determined. Enzo has run it as Mr. Black for three years already, and though Kai has great street smarts and is quite capable of standing up for herself, she lacks experience as a leader. When things get personal, the two clash professionally. Kai uses her equal footing with Enzo to hurt him, but it comes with a price. When the first round of the game begins, they had reached a tentative peace, but winning comes at a price as well.
Heartbroken by Kai's betrayal, as evidenced by the rumors that damage his reputation in the underworld, and not denied by Kai herself later, Enzo loses his careful composure and does the unthinkable. Another round of Truths, though, has him and Kai both spiraling out of control and the entire team scrambling. The book ends in a shattering cliffhanger with yet another wicked turn at the end.
In book three:
A tentative peace is reached, but a war is simmering. The entire crew heads aboard the Savage and out to sea to keep their whereabouts unknown and to buy time. Milo Wallace must be taken out, and an alliance is formed with Rowan Evan. Liesel Dunn, Enzo’s friend from his teen years, is forced to join leave on the Savage as well due to her role in the first game.
Liesel doesn't play nice and makes no secret of her feelings for Enzo. But Enzo, of course doesn't do quite enough put her in her place. The fact that Liesel is still his “everything” has something to do with that. Her history with Enzo presents both a challenge and an opportunity for Kai.
Tensions play out during the time out at sea. Some relationships blossom in such close quarters, but people also begin to grow antsy. The truths unveiled before the departure leave Kai and Enzo damaged. Kai deals with the fact that both her father and Enzo sold her as well as the many lies she grew up with. Enzo struggles with his guilt and his determination to make things right. He grows emotionally during this time, but still doesn't quite know how to deal with it best. He wavers between needing Kai forever and sending her away from Black for her own good at the first opportunity.
A second game takes place aboard ship. This game is different, though, because it isn't only Enzo and Kai whose safety and well-being are involved. It is an emotionally brutal game. Nevertheless, the war must take place before they can all return home, and nobody fights fair. Blood spills in this heartbreaking battle. The story ends in a cliffhanger. Their story continues in Stolen by Truths, book four of the series.
There are a few issues that merit mention. First, Kai's attempt to be serious about winning round two of the Black games isn't serious at all, hence she would have been better off not even attempting her chosen method. Perhaps more persuasion might have gotten her closer to a win. Second, Enzo's indecision becomes tiresome, though Kai makes some progress in that department. Finally, Enzo and Kai both make utterly foolish, dead-end choices that seem out of character, but conveniently lead to another cliffhanger as readers wait to see who gets their way and what new damage has taken place.
Enzo and Kai’s story is a slow burn. They have fantastic chemistry, but their relationship is complicated. It shifts. Kai and Enzo finally come to terms with their feelings in this book. They have an undefined relationship, though neither is capable of expressing their feelings for the other. Both are determined to do what is best for the other, even if it means an end for them. Sometimes they are enemies – of necessity, for self preservation. Enzo's priorities shift. Becoming the next Black falls second to protecting Kai, but how best to protect her doesn't have a clear and easy answer. Kai doesn’t want to become the next Black. Either way, the games continue even if she chooses not to participate. Here she has made great progress in healing, but the extent of Enzo's suffering and his own need for healing come to light.
Enzo and Kai’s story continues the angsty twists and turns in book three of the series. Their chemistry heats up the pages as they become consumed with one another. The story is nicely written. It is plot-driven, with heartbreaking curveballs that sock you in the gut. The characters are well-developed. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates mostly between Enzo and Kai, with one chapter in Liesel's POV and two in Milo's. I rate this book four stars.
I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**
The addicting saga continues!
Just like the previous novels I was sucked right in. This instalment has a larger focus on character development--and not just on our two leads either--which is great. It makes these already complex leads even more intriguing by adding these additional layers to their characters. And it was great to get more insight into the other characters that are constantly shifting the narrative of this story.
Compared to the rest of the series so far, I felt like this story was slower in the middle. It picks up again near the end as it sets the stage for the rest of the series. We've got some interesting developments on the way and I can't wait to see what tests Kai and Enzo have to pass next.
The third book in the Truth or Lies Series, Trapped by Lies continues the dark and twisted story of Enzo and Kai. Trapped by Lies is paced with danger, betrayal, suspense, secrets, lies, deceit, angst, off-the-charts chemsitry, heart-wrenching moments, and plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
The continued cycle of truths and lies have Kai and Enzo stuck in a vortex of mistrust that takes the story from land back to the sea. The dumb bunnies are madly in love with each other, but only Kai is willing to admit it as she becomes positively lovesick over Enzo. I wanted to slap the jack out of both of them for hiding behind their lies. And so continues the charade of telling truths to hide lies, and telling lies to keep from exposing truths. There is more tension in this book that tests the couple in various ways: the competition, arch enemies, trusting allies, new strategies and hard decisions, relationship complications, and the truth of their feelings for each other. Even as they learn to trust with truths, they are betraying each other with false lies under the misguided notion that self-sacrifice is the only option for protection from harm. How an unhealthy rationalization can twist up a mind!
The cliffy from Betrayed by Lies left both MCs competing in the first challenge for control of the Black empire, but Kai outsmarts Enzo at great personal peril by cozying up to arch enemy Milo. To paraphrase Shakespeare in this review’s title, Enzo finds himself in a real pickle after wrongly assuming that Kai betrayed him with Milo. Blinded by a jealous rage, Enzo gets even by selling her to Milo before realizing he was dead wrong. When Enzo learns the truth, he knows he fucked up ONCE AGAIN and caused Kai more pain. His regrets keep mounting and make him think he’s not good enough for her in the long-run. On top of the coming challenges, the couple now contends with removing enemy threats, and forces an alliance with yet another enemy, which also coincides with the timeline of the second challenge. This pair has more enemies than allies at this point. Yikes.
Obviously we don’t know the whole story yet with 3 books left in the series, but Enzo showed his weaknesses in this book – toward Kai, his enemies, and especially against her vile father. Not to mention he practically killed Zeke for seeing Kai half-dressed in nothing but a shirt. Yet, he hesitated to kill Kai’s father, even though he sold her and caused her 6 years of unimaginable torture? His brain is scrambled by love, no other explanation. A majority of the book is slowed down by the internalized thoughts of both MCs as they take evasive measures against the enemy threat and connect on a deeper level physically and emotionally, while facing a number of obstacles that pull them apart and threaten their lives. Emotionally, Enzo kept dragging his feet every step of the way and it affected his overall decision-making. Although I still love the author’s writing style and the plotline, Enzo’s repetitious thoughts drove me nuts in every chapter – saying the same thing about not being able to love and the inevitability of eventually setting Kai free. Kai was the strong one again in this book, but she droned on as well about her tortured love for Enzo and not wanting to ever give him up. Wash, rinse, repeat, with an overabundance of sex scenes that put action on the backburner. On an aside note, Kai’s body is so abused and scarred up at this point that I’m starting to wonder how she’s so physically beautiful, but it’s fiction and I’ll go with it.
When the action finally took off, it was good, but rushed, and threw in some really catchy twists and turns that were shortchanged by all the repetitive focus on the relationship stuff. That said, we still get the gist of the ongoing dynamics and I do like how it all heats up and keeps forcing the couple together and apart. Are they lovers, enemies, or can they be both and have it all? The most compelling part was who wins the second challenge and why, along with where the lovers’ misguided protection of each other leads them off the next cliffy. I’m still totally invested in the series, and despite grammar issues and the rushed action in this book, the author weaves a really intriguing action/love story that keeps me guessing and invested, despite any flaws.
Kai Miller…. Enzo Black…. this is their story and it’s so frustratingly beautiful… heart-wrenchingly tragic. Will they be Trapped By Lies or will truth begin to surface? Will they learn to work together and lean on each other for victory against the REAL enemy, or will they sabotage themselves by trying to go it alone?
Love and Hate…. Such a Thin Line. Where does the truth lie? How many times can that line be crossed without truth coming to the surface? There’s a cruel game to play and to the victor goes the spoil. And what is the REAL game? Is it the game to determine Black or is it something else entirely? Does Kai’s dad give us a clue?
How far will Kai and Enzo go to protect each other? Just as darkness can’t survive a tiny particle of light, lies can’t win when the the tiniest bit of truth surfaces. Unfortunately for Milo, he is too control driven and arrogant to realize this. And what secret does Zeke hold? Will Zeke surface again with a secret that’s a dealbreaker? If it means protecting Kai, I believe and HOPE he will.
Kai and Enzo are strong. Plus they have the strength of truth behind them, whether they realize it or not.….. hate never defeats love and truth requires lies to be exposed. It’s like light vs dark….. a small glimmer of light eliminates darkness. And , likewise, the tiniest feeling of love will overcome hate. Knowing that one truth…. I’d hate to be in Milo’s shoes! Will Kai and Enzo finally realize: United We Stand, Divided We Fall? Maybe we should pity Milo when that truth comes to light!
✰✰✰✰ Four Stars since I like the clues and breadcrumbs the author leaves to keep the reader involved in trying to figure things out. Took away a star for the reasons stated below in my ‘Wishes’.
Likes: Emotionally driven and goes against the grain, draws the reader into guessing and making assumptions. I can see many readers wanting to ‘jump inside the pages’ and tell some of these characters how dumb they are acting and reacting… that they need to team up to defeat the enemy. They are smarter than what they are showing.
Wishes: Way to many gymnastic bedroom scenes. They are unrealistic and had me skipping over much of the story. They took away from the real plot-line. Same for all the ‘F’ bombs. Seems like every other sentence used the ‘F’ word in some way. The storyline is too good to be weakened with all this.
Warning- people...this isn't a standalone and you need to read all the books published in this series so far to be ready for this one...and yes, it is totally worth it if you love a dark romance with a sexy edge like I do.
The last book ended as they all have so far with a major cliffhanger. Enzo has once again gone off, with the wrong story in his head and doubted Kai's motives, loyalty and believed she betrayed him...no she didn't Enzo!
Now what can he do since he already set the ball into motion. His word and honor as Black is at stake as well and time is ticking away quickly before their enemy shows up to claim his prize. Well, Kai is that prize and she doesn't wanted to be reclaimed by that crazy, sadistic Milo. She might rather be dead.
Enzo's last ditch solution is quite a slight of hand type play and it works..for now. We all know how much Kai fears the sea, but will she do what is needed to escape the threat that Milo brings to her, Enzo, the Black empire and everyone she's come to think of as family. Well, maybe not Liesel, who is still hanging around, hoping to get Enzo back in her hot little hands. Kai would love to push her overboard!
More rounds of truth or lies is played between Kai and Enzo..is love the truth or the lie? Is anyone safe right now? Doesn't look that way. Is their quest to do what's best for each, without telling the other, playing right into their enemies plans to take the Black empire right out from under them?
Find out what's going on in this chapter of the deadly game of who is savvy and smart enough to outwit the other and win the Black Empire. What 'private' games are the strong, beautiful Kai and that sexy, alpha Enzo involved in now? Has Milo finally gotten the upper hand this time?
Must. Have. More...I can't wait for the next installment..that June release is tooooo far away! Grrrr!
An early copy was given and happily received. This is my honest review of it.
3.75 stars rounded up to 4 So far this was my least favorite of the series, but also had some of my favorite plot twists and emotions running through it. So we start this book out right after Enzo tells Kai he sold her in retaliation to thinking she betrayed him. Watching this unfold really hurt my heart. The way the author basically made everything mute for Kai as she was completely shutting down really came through in the writing. And Enzo's friends completely and disappointedly distancing themselves from Enzo really showed how much Kai had won them over, considering what happened to Zeke in the last book. They scramble to get Kai back and this just starts an avalanche of other events that happen. They face the second challenge in the "battle for Black" and it twisted my heart like a jumbled up Rubik's cube. The ending kind of came up really quickly. It felt so super rushed. In a really bad way. Enzo kept me so confused for most of the book. One minute he tells Kai he has to meet with his boys and he acts like he doesn't want to leave her (like they've made a lot of headway in their feelings for each other) and when he comes back he's all like "we just fuck, that's all we are." Umm, sir... If I'm confused I KNOW Kai's head has to be spinning. And there was literally NO reason for his change of character. I hated it. And I hated Enzo for most of this book. There were many problematic situations and issues with Enzo that arose, and they stuck out much more glaringly than in previous books. Maybe I'm just tired of his BS. Who knows...? All that being said, I'm beyond ready to continue this series. I absolutely MUST know how "Battle for Black" ends, and what happens between Kai and Enzo. I do hope Enzo does a lot of growing up soon. He needs to learn how to use his big boy words something fierce. I still feel confident enough in this series to recommend it to friends.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "TRAPPED BY LIES" OMG!!!! Talk about a mindblowing read full of suspense, secrets, lies, intrigue, passion, angst, danger, kidnapping, betrayal, twists that have you turning page after page. Enzo sells Kai to Milo Wallace because he thinks she betrayed him, Langston, Zeke, and even Westcott are disgusted at what he did they think of her as family. Enzo mouths to Kai as Milo drags her out that he will save her, and he does before she boards his Yacht with the help if who he thought was a friend Rowan to help him get her back. Enzo gets Kai back and he tells everyone there going out on the Savage his Yacht with everyone that means anything to him including Liesel to protect them until they take out Milo. Enzo and Kai being on the Yacht brings them closer than ever they both love one another but won't admit out loud their chemistry is off the charts scorching hot tbe connection they have to one another is all consuming you don't see where one begins and the other ends. This was such an addicting read couldn't out this book read it in one go Ella Miles is an excellent creative writer with strong characters that pull you right in this is an awesome series that should be read in order I definitely recommend. PHENOMINAL READ!!!!!!
Continuation of the Kai and Enzo story.............love but but at what cost?
Boy I just cannot get enough of the Truth and Lies series by Ella Miles. Trapped by Lies is the third book in this series and it is just as riveting as the previous books. The story of Kai and Enzo continues with all manner of twists and turns, lies, deceit, intrigue and darkness. As the game between Kai and Enzo continues you are left on the edge of your seat, biting your nails and barely breathing. There is so much depth that Ella has woven into this story that you cannot put it down. Enzo one again had sold Kai but he realizes that he make a mistake doing so. Kai does escape from Milo but it does not come without consequences. It amazes me that Kai keeps coming back to Enzo even when he betrays her on so many levels. And yet Enzo loves Kai in his own way and wants to protect her. But is it really protection or is it ownership? Trapped by Lies does end in a cliffhanger just as the previous books did so you will be waiting to reading the next book in this series when it is finally published.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
A man obsessed, a double cross and danger ahead. by sewsummore
This is the third book in the series and Enzo must face the real prospect of loosing Kai, and it is all his fault. He promised her protection and now he is committed to selling her once again. There is fear in her eyes as she turns to walk away with her new owner. A man who likes to cause pain, a man obsessed with Kai, It tears at his heart but with luck she will be mine again very soon. As all the books in the series, there is danger and violence and pain. Neither Kai or Enzo will open their hearts to each other and both with lie to protect the other. Their is violence in their lovemaking, each time it could be the last, Kai was broken but from that came strength and a will to survive, a vow to protect Enzo at all cost. As this book comes to a close, there are more twists to this saga and the next book will explore the new dangers ahead.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed this book.
*Spoilers* I’m really enjoying the Truth or Lies series and find the books to be well written and engaging. While the first two books kept my attention from start to finish, I must say that this book was a bit of a challenge to finish. We find out more about the villainous Milo and how Enzo regained possession of Kai after he sold her to Milo in the cliffhanger ending of book two. As we already know, Kai’s main objective is to secure her freedom and isn’t interested in winning the Black empire. This book ends with a mutual sacrifice by both Kai and Enzo, each choosing love over power. Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed with this book because what happened in it could easily have been incorporated into the previous and/or next book. This book for me interrupted the suspenseful flow of the story by just being a bunch of bridging details instead of an engaging plot direction/twist that it was intended to be. Perhaps I just expected more of the book since I was thoroughly enjoying the series thus far. I’m hoping the next book will regain my interest.

ONE SINFUL DELIGHT!!! OMG! Talk about living recklessly. If you like living on the edge with a multitude of events, spinning emotions and intense cravings, congrats my friends you've found it. Twixt and twinned and put through the wringer as the characters stuggle trying to stay one step ahead and losing ground. All the drama, angst, danger and suspense soars thrusting this bad boy to life beautifully. Twists and turns abound, along with a few bumps and bruises that rock this baby with every word. Ella didn't skip a beat bringing this bad boy together perfectly. The chemistry between the two main characters is off the charts, white hot and explosive. The characters are genuine, intriguing and realistic with such depth and on point personalities its easy to relate. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in ground zero with them. Remarkable job Ella, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
This is the continuing story of Enzo and Kai. You have to read the previous books in the series to understand what’s going on and this book also ends in a cliffhanger. At the ending of the previous book, Enzo thought Kai had betrayed him and in the ultimate betrayal he sold her to the man who’d just severely beaten her for refusing to sleep with him. This book is about Enzo’s attempt to fix that mistake and what extra dangers that leads to. The story continued to develop and sometimes I was worried about what would happen next. As Enzo and Kai continue to battle for the Black empire, this book contains the second test in the contest.
This is a dark tale with a fine line between love and hate, light and dark. Enzo and Kai are both broken because of their pasts. Can someone be too broken to love? I’m ready for the next installment.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The dark game continued as Enzo and Kai were pawns in a deadly suck game. This episode was just as gripping and compelling as the first two books. The storyline was frustrating but always fascinating. My heart ached for the ways Enzo betrayed and hurt Kai. His persona was always in flux, switching back and forth as he loved Kai, but refused to accept it. I kind of hated him for that. The author created in Milo, a formidable and hateful villain. He still played a huge role in this story and continued to thwart the main couple. As Kai grew stronger her connection to Enzo deepened. Their relationship was still damaged but grew to epic proportions in this chapter of their story. Disturbing twists and turns, but crafted expertly by this talented author. Another huge cliffy at the end.

This is the third book in the series and tHe storyline continues to get better. Enzo and Kai have had to hide out on his yacht to escape Milo, the man who kidnapped and beat Kai. Enzo had sold Kai to him, then upon finding out what he how he had hurt her, decided to steal her back and keep the money Milo paid to own her. While aboard the yacht they must complete their second challenge for the position of being called Black. This new challenge involves the use of any means of torture to extract information.
Enzo knows that Milo will come looking for him and he has to strategize in preparation for the upcoming battle. When the time finally comes, it would seem that Milo is killed in the melee, but so is Enzo’s right hand man, Zeke. However, there are still lies being told and truths to reveal.

This is a fantastic series so far!! But, be forewarned, books need read in order for better understanding. I had a harder time getting into this one than i did the prequel or book one because I kept thinking something was wrong but couldn't figure out what it was. I finally realized the reason was that I had somehow missed reading book two. With reading the prequel and book one I did have at least some background into the storyline and characters. Although I am caught up with what's going on with Kai and Enzo, I will likely go back and read book two at some point. This one kept up with the theme of secrets, lies, betrayal, suspense, action, and danger. Beware, there is a cliffhanger ending in this one. *I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is my honest review.*
Wow, this series just keeps getting better and better! Enzo and Kai’s story is just so intense, suspenseful, not knowing what’s coming next and sitting on the edge of you seat with anticipation is the sign of an amazing story teller. Still struggling with communication between them brings nothing but trouble, they love each other deeply and want to protect the other. Danger is lurking around the corner laughing at them as to how foolish they are to think they can save each other from their own fate. How will their story end? Well you need to read this book and then wait for the next in the series to see what happens. Loved it, couldn’t get enough. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book through Booksprout.
This third book in the series is just as amazing as the previous books. The plot is intense and dark, the author tells it wonderfully from different points of view so that we can hear what each character has to say about what is happening. From the first page this story is full of violence, pain, deceit, suspense and love. Kai and Enzo have such a complicated relationship and I can’t wait to find out where they go from here. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book. I highly recommend anyone who loves dark romance to get this series and read through them, so you are ready for when the next one in the series is released, this is a must-read series! Book 3 and what a tale.... once again we witness the extents these two will go to to protect each other.... and the lies and manipulations they will create in order to prevent the truth getting out... a very simple truth yet one that terrifies them both....the dreaded L word. We learn more of Enzo’s desperate childhood at the hands of his evil father, we also see Kai grow in confidence and start to earn her place within the empire.... but we also see that all are not whom they seem and wonder how this can ever end well for these star crossed lovers? I’m almost dreading the next instalment for fear of what else these poor characters will have to endure.... almost😉 I received an arc from the author and I am choosing to leave a review.
Good grief!! Once again my hands are shaking and my heart is racing. Ella Miles has continued the story of Enzo and Kai along with the Black name in this third book of "Truth or Lie." I don't want to give any spoilers and yet I want to be able to convey to you the full on emotional rollercoaster this story will put you on. It's dark, gritty, powerful. The characters are so beautifully damaged you'll either love them or love to hate them. And the buildup and explosions of sexual chemistry that is filled with all the unspoken emotion neither can acknowledge or confess. I'll be honest and tell you I needed a tissue here and there, so be prepared for that and a HUGE cliffhanger. I received a copy of this ARC and am voluntarily giving my honest review. Wait til you read it and you'll agree.
Enzo and Kai's story continues with Trapped, and Enzo does have Kai trapped. She thinks she's being held hostage, but is her heart holding her there more than he is. Enzo says he's keeping Kai for her safety, but has his heart not caught up with his brain yet? She soothes him when they are together and helps him become the man he's meant to be. Both of them are fighting their feelings for each other, but they are also playing their parents game to see who will become the true Black. Will all of these things bring or keep them together or will it destroy them both and everyone they know and care about.
You can't put this story down. I hadn't read the first two books, but the author was so kind give me the chance to also read them. This serie is strong and powerful. It is not a sweet and cheesy romance where everything is sunshine and butterflies. It is a storyline that is full of every aspect of life. The good The bad The ugly
It is a storyline that you will want to follow to the end. The storyline is captivating. It is not a book where you can stop after the first book. You will need to know how it will all end!

Enzo and Kai seemed to have turned a corner in their relationship. Once again fear and pain causes one to make an decision that he can’t take back. While scrambling on how to fix it, more truths and secrets are revealed. The repercussions of that decision to will be felt throughout the book and I’m sure future books. In the mean time Kai begins to heal from her tortuous past and Enzo has managed to feel the impossible. It was their love that healed them and it will be their love that will lead them to sacrifice everything for that person. Though on the horizon there will be a bigger battle with enemies from every corner and the only way they will be able defeat them is together.
