A good example of domestic discipline in modern setting, with younger h acting out to get the attention of the H. He's a good man struggling to make ends meet on his ranch, and he's hasn't taken the time to see her skills. The contemporary setting worked well, the writing was great and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I really liked this author.

WE MAKE A GOOD TEAM
Once again, Ms. Amelia Smarts has penned a book that had me drawn into the characters and situation that I didn’t stop reading until I reached the end. Two people who knew each other for twenty years and yet there are secrets, some animosity, plenty of angst, and even chemistry between them. Lydia is still living in the foreman’s house on the Kane ranch, the one she has lived in her entire twenty years. With Jackson’s parents retired, he is now running the family ranch and doesn’t have the heart to kick her out, not with her losing both her parents.
“Often we must do things we don’t want to do. That’s just the way life is, you know?”
Jackson has tried placing Lydia in various jobs around the ranch, but she has a propensity for making trouble, turning the other staff members angry, and leaving destruction along the way. Her latest job is as a runner for the other ranch hands, and that isn’t going well. When Jackson calls her in, she has a nasty attitude and snarky comments, even calling him Daddy. Well, maybe that’s the problem, this little girl needs a daddy to set things right, and before he knows it, that is exactly what happens.
“Yes, Daddy. Thanks for the lesson on life.”
Jackson has been pushed beyond his limits, and he administers an over-the-knee spanking to Lydia, and it seems to adjust her attitude—but it also opens Pandora’s box to sexual feelings that have been buried. Allowing Lydia to work in his office, filing papers will help get things organized but also reveal secrets hidden. What will happen with the truth is revealed? Meh. Lydia and Jackson's story is ok - I don't know all the nuances of daddy kink, but this came off more as D/s than daddy and little girl. I did appreciate that Lydia did show a good character arc, even in the short amount of time allotted in the story. I also appreciated that she did not buck against the dominance that Jackson showed, but recognized it as something that she wanted. I have no real qualms with the story, I just didn't feel the emotional attachment to the characters that I need to thoroughly enjoy and be invested in the story. 3 out of 5 wine glasses

Great example of DD/lg erotic romance. Lydia feels lost in the world, a bit disconnected, so she's been acting out. After ranch owner Jackson sits down with her, he decides she needs a little paternal guidance and affection. I loved Jackson's steadfast nature, his drive to do what's best for Lydia, and his willingness to accept help.

Daddy Takes Charge is a stand alone, contemporary romance. Jackson has always had a soft spot for Lydia, but when her attempts to get his attention go too far, she awakens the daddy within. As their relationship develops, Jackson and Lydia need to figure out what’s most important to each other and figure out if there’s a way to save the ranch!
This book is the perfect combination of sweet with the stern daddy, thoughtful and sassy, and I loved reading it! Jackson and Lydia made a really great team when they finally looked beyond their hurt and stand-offish attitudes. Jackson was the perfect Daddy for Lydia, exactly what she needed to rein in her wild ways, caring and attentive, and most of all, I loved the pride he felt when it came to taking care of Lydia and the rest of his ranch. Lydia was a bit of a brat at times, but she wore her heart on her sleeve, had the best of intentions, and was creative and smart. I loved their dynamic together, I loved the way they balanced each other out, and I loved that they both had a little bit to overcome before they could fully accept their love and future. This book was a quick and sweet read with a wonderful daddy Dom play, and it was really great to read!

I always have liked reading stories by Amelia Smarts and she wrote another one that I really like. Lydia has lived on the ranch since she was born and Jackson lets her stay on after her parents die. She would love for Jackson to notice her but since he is older, she goes out of her way to do things that she shouldn't for attention. And get his attention it does. The relationship is fun to watch develop and I enjoyed this story.

characters went through on their journey into this new chapter of their life's together.The

how Jackson was always in charge but acknowledged Lydia's intelligence.The sexual chemistry
between them was so sizzling hot that you needed a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
Miss Smarts has written another exciting book that I found utterly addictive.

An Afternoon Delight!!!
Jackson’s Ranch is struggling to remain afloat. He’s a good man, and he’s worked hard on the place over the years, but he’d rather be out mending fences than sitting behind his desk trying to make sense of checks and balances. To make matters worse, there is one ranch hand who is making his life more difficult on a daily basis by being totally incompetent, reckless, destructive, negligent and just plain difficult. That troublesome hand happens to be the daughter of the alcoholic Forman he had to fire because the man stole money from him. It appears the sweet little tomboy with the blonde pigtails has grown into a bratty Lydia. She grew up on the ranch and lived in the Forman’s cabin with her parents who are both now deceased. Jackson hired her as a runner for the other hands so that she could continue to live in the cabin rent free and he could look out for her until it was time for her to go to college. Since the passing of her parents, every chore she was given ended in mayhem. After continuous complaints about her job performance, or lack thereof, and being given a list of her task failures, Jackson is forced to bring her into his office for questioning. He has to get to the bottom of the problem. And he does. Soundly! And you think that’s where their story starts, but you’ll see it started long before then. Great book and a fast read.

This is an enjoyable and entertaining story, it is well written and well told. This is a novella sized book but the author, Amelia Smarts fit a lot of story in to it. The original storylines are interesting and engrossing. There is a perfect balance of drama and romance, as well as sweetness and naughtiness. There is great character development too. Jackson Kane runs his family ranch, he always looked out for Lydia, even when she acted out to get his attention. One day Jackson gave her just what she deserved, a spanking, and she liked it. This is the beginning of their d/s relationship and Jackson falls into the role of Daddy Dom to her. I loved the chemistry between the two and how protective he was of her. I also loved how smart she was and how he recognized that. Amelia Smarts thank you for the great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Matthew Keyes is a terrific narrator and voice performer. He brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. He brought a lot to the story, his Jackson was strong, domineering but still had a lot of heart and his Lydia was sassy and smart. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of rancher Jackson and his employee Lydia. Lydia's father worked for Jackson and his father before he died. Lydia grew up on the farm and Jackson noticed how she grew into a beautiful woman, but she was younger than him. When Lydia was failing at every job he gave her on the ranch, he decided it was time to talk to her. Lydia told Jackson she was mad at him and she was acting out for attention. Jackson knew she was a brat and she needed a spanking. So Jackson spanked her for her behavior and her language. Lydia was being saucy to him and called him Daddy, but Jackson told her she needed a Daddy. Lydia felt bad about her behavior and wanted to make things right. When Jackson brought her into the office to organize his files, he was nervous she would realize he was losing money. Lydia wanted to be with Jackson and he wanted to be with her, but he knew she was leaving for college soon. I really enjoyed this book. I loved Jackson, he was a strong dom who knew how to make Lydia behave. Lydia was lonely and needed someone to pay attention to her and Jackson showed her the tight attention. Good one.

Amelia Smarts does it again with Daddy Take Charge. Each time I have the opportunity to listen to one of her books, I fall for the whole situation, lock,stock and barrel. This story brings together to people who have known each other for years. Jackson employed Lydia's father for years, and now feels a responsibility to keep her on at his ranch until she leaves for college. These two are like oil and water, bringing not only the sexual tension to an all time high, but the daddy in Jackson. Smart write with strong women and Lydia is spunky and smart. She is a fun to watch evolve into a confident woman who loves with her whole heart and a spanked bottom! Jackson is overprotective, bull headed and the one of the best male characters Amelia has written. This sweet, sassy story brings love, compassion and a firm hand to the warmth of your heart.
Matthew Keyes is a new to me narrator and I enjoyed his performance. He does Jackson with that alpha protectiveness, definitely giving him that daddy feel. He can then change and provide Lydia with the young, brattiness that she brings in to be tamed. He gives us an enjoyable listen!

An Awesome Read!!
I enjoyed reading Daddy Takes Charge! All about Jackson Kane the ranch owner & Lydia Morgan his guardian who is twenty years old. Lydia was born on this ranch when Jackson was a little boy, her dad was the foreman and her mom worked in the mai ranch house. Even though Jackson was being groomed to take over the ranch and it’s total operations Lydia was always under foot. The author wrote a story about a young women who is all alone in this world as does not feel loved or cared for, so she acts out. Read about Jackson & Lydia and see how all her transgressions earn her a very uncomfortable spanking & lead to her calling him Daddy!! I loved reading this book, because the number of antics that Lydia has pulled over the last year would astound you, but now she must pay for her pranks in a very uncomfortable way!! It was a great read with just the right amount of discipline and the perfect amount of pleasure induced spankings!! If you ever wondered what it means to get punished and then loved, give this book a try, I know it will make you glad you gave it a shot!!

Lydia has lived on Jackson's ranch since she was a child but after both her parents died, Jackson kept her on and gave her odd jobs to earn her keep and keep her in his sights. One problem is that Lydia is feeling like no one cares about her and is bratting with each chore she is given. Jackson has finally reached his limits with her and takes charge of her behavior by starting off with a corrective spanking, the start of his existing secret lust for being her daddy and guiding her to be a better person and giving her the attention she craves and giving him access to the beauty she has become. There is one important event that Jackson won't reveal that keeps Lydia from being the woman she wants to be for Jackson. Their attraction and inevitable sexual connection might be the thing that helps Jackson accept Lydia, and open up the relationship if they can only trust each other and let love conquer all.

Amelia Smarts does Westerns and daddies so well. It doesn't matter if it's modern or back in the 1800s, her Western Daddies are always a joy and delight to read.
Jackson is a rancher and Lydia has always been on his ranch, and now she's running a little wild, so he has to do something about her.
I think Jackson and Lydia work really well together. The fact that they had known each other for all of Lydia's life kind of made it both easier and harder, I think. They already knew all about each other, and they were more comfortable with each other. But then there could also be the fact that he remembers her as a little kid, but it doesn't seem to cause problems, so it works. Lydia is really smart and I think that she's also going to be really useful to Jackson and end up making everything better. Such a good story.
I can't wait for the next Amelia Smarts book.
Jackson is a rancher and Lydia has always been on his ranch, and now she's running a little wild, so he has to do something about her.
I think Jackson and Lydia work really well together. The fact that they had known each other for all of Lydia's life kind of made it both easier and harder, I think. They already knew all about each other, and they were more comfortable with each other. But then there could also be the fact that he remembers her as a little kid, but it doesn't seem to cause problems, so it works. Lydia is really smart and I think that she's also going to be really useful to Jackson and end up making everything better. Such a good story.
I can't wait for the next Amelia Smarts book.

Jackson and Lydia have known each other for years. This story is more of an age difference though because Lydia's father was employed by Jackson and he felt a responsibility to her. Lydia is a very independent woman and has rebellious ways. Theses traits makes Lydia so much fun to follow. Jackson takes her under his wing, and once her rebellious ways gets her into too much trouble, Jackson must put her in her place. But when the ranch is in jeopardy, will Lydia be able to help Jackson save it? This book has a little bit of everything and is a must read.
Matthew Keyes has that perfect cowboy voice. I enjoyed his narration of Jackson. Mr. Keyes makes Jackson the older, cowboy, strong Daddy that he was written to be. Mr. Keyes has a smooth female voice that is not forced and easy to follow. I enjoyed this narration.

Thoughly entertaining and totally enjoyable, this book engaged me right from the start. I had to laugh at the antics of Lyndia, she really did try to get some attention from Jackson. Her behaviour has been brought to Jacksons attention by his forman. When he calls her into his office, his attention is on how she is dressed, which isnt great, seen as there are quiet a few men on the ranch. When given a list of her antics she is forced to admit they were mostly done on purpose, sarcastically she calls him daddy, then she is over his lap getting spanked and that is the start of things to come.
A must read, and im sure you will really love this book like i did.

Jackson has always felt protective towards Lydia and as he is forced by circumstances to take her in hand, his more lustful feelings develop. Lydia similarly has always felt drawn to Jackson and as she got older this translated into a need to get his attention. Unfortunately, she chose to do so by behaving badly until she ended up over his knee. It is a really endearing story and Lydia tries her hardest to make up for her past actions. She is also strong enough to take Jackson to task when she feels that he's behaving unfairly, and he is man enough to listen and reassess his actions. I received this book as an advance review copy from Stormy Night Publications.

Jackson owns the ranch that Lydia lives on, and has given her several jobs to tide her over till she leaves for college. The lovely Lydia, was horrible, she made quite a mess of things and the staff were growing weary of her Antics.
Jackson saw to her discipline and gave her some much needed attention.
Lydia began to help in the office and help Jackson make some changes for the better to the ranch. When Lydia came upon a bookkeeping discrepancy, Jackson got mad at her.
I liked this story of love and redemption and would most definitely recommend.

This is a new book by Amelia Smarts. She writes wonderful spanking stories and this one is just great!
Lydia has been left alone in the world. Jackson lets her stay on the ranch and has her try new jobs to help out. She doesn't do well because she is insecure. Jackson finally loses his patience and spanks her. This is the start of a beautiful DD/lg relationship.
I loved the interaction between the two of them. I give this a whole hearted 5 stars and I can't wait for the next book by this author!

Rancher Daddy was one sweet read of delicious yumminess! Jackson is stern, unsmiling, but also steady, consistent, and underneath all those hard muscles, caring. He fights his desires and he isn’t perfect (all of these character traits I tend to love in a book hero). Lydia is completely likable. She’s smart, a little wild, and a little feisty. If only this book were longer....but honestly, it is still a complete story. Sexy, angsty, well-written... a total must read. ❤️

I enjoyed reading this story. It's well written and described. A different take on the daddy dom theme. The chemistry between Lydia and Jackson is off the charts. They need eachother, Lydia knows it but Jackson has to find out the hard way. All the characters are well done, very rounded. There are some spankings and hot spicy sexy scenes. I volintarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I highly recommend it. An easy to read page-turner.

Funny how sometimes a Daddy has no idea how much a little girl needs a man just him. Lydia and Jackson have know each other their entire lives, after Lydia's parents passed he put her to work on his ranch, she has some trouble behaving herself and preforming the assigned tasks that he is forced to take her in hand. A fast moving, well written love story, that was fun to read, really enjoyed it and so will you.

This story was a nice blend of sweet and hot. Overall the characters were likeable. Lydia was a bit of a brat, but the author provided enough backstory to make the brattiness understandable. Jackson was stern and a bit hard headed. I really liked the slow softening as Lydia invaded his life. The story itself was well written and well paced. The story pulled me in early on and kept me interested until the end.

A fun read
I loved these two. A hurt, petulant brat with a lot of trauma. A calm but stern guy who runs the farm and has been VERY generous and understanding with her until she finally brats him too far. I love a good punishment spanking, and this delivered! But it turns out, they both really enjoyed it, and we get a few more opportunities for spankings and some very sexy scenes. I definitely remember reading this before but it was a great re-read!

Lydia and Jackson are two people who need each other. She’s a brat who is in need of some discipline and he’s a stern rancher who needs someone to lighten up his life. This book works in every way. The characters are well developed and the storyline moves along and keeps you interested.

Wow, what a sweet story. I loved this daddy story. Lydia is purposefully troublesome after her father’s death on the ranch. Jackson is the owner of the ranch who doesn’t want to make Lydia leave her home but he doesn’t know what to do with her. This story will really touch your heartstrings. When Lydia admits to why she is being naughty, you just want to cry for her.

Absolutely loved it!! It’s been a while since I delved into a sexy and naughty Daddy book, and after reading the blurb on this one, I couldn’t resist.
From beginning to end, it kept me flipping through pages faster than I thought possible. Amelia was a new to me author and I can’t wait to read more by her. She definitely has a new fan in me. :)

Jackson is trying to run his ranch but he's finding it difficult at the moment. Lydia has lived on the ranch her whole life but things just aren't the same.
This book kept me reading well into the night. Not only do they connect with each other on a deep level, but they also support each other in all ways.
