Another good read by Wendy Vella. Nice humour and close family relationships have made this series good.
Primrose and Ben are good characters. Who make a friendship and often get each other out of trouble.

This was a delightful and witty historical romance. It was filled with engaging banter and humorous situations according to time period. Both MCs were likable and had wonderful chemistry. And haute ton didn't disappoint with its sarcastic attitudes and judgemental gossips.

Primrose Ainsley is a woman considered to be on the shelf with only slight connection to the elite. She is considered beneath the notice. When she has to endure her first season in order to marry, she perseveres in hopes that she will go back home to her quiet life. Always thinking how unlovable she is due to her family's shabby treatment of her, she follows her own path by loving plants and being a bit of a wild child. She will never love or be loved, so young gentlemen do not interest her. That is until one day she meets a man who hides his own pain by being rude and obnoxious to her.

Ben Hetherington has everything he could ever want - a loving family, money and connections, female adoration and freedom. What he does not want is a wife! But his family keeps harping at him that it's time he got himself one. What starts as a nasty retort turns into a discovery that there is more to the young ladies that what they show to the ton if he only but looks closer. From anger comes awareness, then protectiveness that does not make sense. Then it all becomes an elaborate dance between two young people - banter, passionate kisses and funny shenanigans.

But being in the wrong place at the wrong time gets Primrose in trouble and Ben becomes her savior. But nobles are a fickle bunch, and with her reputation in tatters and her family abandoning her, Primrose has no one but herself to rely on. Ben, having pushed her away, finally gets his head straight and dashes to claim her as his own. It's all very adventurous - carriage rides, kidnappings and young people in love. I had so much fun reading this! It also crosses over with Sinclair and Raven series by this author, so that is indeed a treat! Another good one by Ms Vella!

This was a very entertaining read, I enjoyed the banter between the two main characters, Primrose and Benjamin. I loved the connection between Benjamin and his family. Unfortunately, Primrose didn’t have a close relationship with her family and as a result she didn’t realise her own worth. Primrose was always ready to help others even to her own detriment. She was such a loveable character. Benjamin had a number of events from his childhood that he needed to come to terms with before he could move on. There are a number of exciting happenings and a meeting with the Sinclairs, whose stories I loved. I found this to be a most engaging story. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I had not read an historical romance for a while and this was a lovely book to get back into it with. Primrose is a beautifully written heroine & I just wanted to reach in and hug her - the people around her were awful and I could have cheerfully slapped our Hero, Ben , when he also pushed her away. I understood why he did it and it provided enough angst but my heart aches for the sweet, strong & resilient Primrose.

Primrose is quirky. She is in society for the Season and it is not going so well. Initially her and Ben do not meet under great circumstances but the attraction develops and then the adventure begins.
There is humour and drama. It’s a well balanced book.
This read well as a standalone in a series but I would likely have had a better grasp of the secondary characters had I read previous books.

Excellent historical romance

Rating: R for sex
Sex: multiple scenes
Language: mostly the Lord's name in vain
Violence: kidnapping, assault, near drowning
HEA: yes
Would I read more of the series: yes

This author does a good job developing her characters through dialogue. Everything these characters do was influenced by their history. In this book, the plot is well thought out, the pacing is excellent, and the romance is truly sweet. It's fun to see characters from previous books, and from other series. Wendy Vella has a collection in my Kindle library all her own.

----SPOILERS----
Primrose is having her first and last season at age 25. She is being sponsored by Lady Jane, a friend of her mother's. Her parents and brother are on their way to India for botanical reasons, and she can't travel with them. They have been invited to a house party by Duke and Duchess Rossetter. Benjamin Hetherington is also a guest, along with a slew of his brothers and sisters. His sisters-in-law are trying to get him to be interested in Primrose, and he says he's as interested in her as he is in someone's gout toe. Of course, Primrose overheard, and she flees. He runs after her to apologize, and finds her in the middle of a pond. He's concerned for her safety and goes in after her, and is astonished when she pulls herself out on the opposite bank. Later, a carriage is overturned into a river, and Primrose was nearby. A young girl explains that her dog was missing, and Primrose went into the water after the dog. Benjamin went in after Primrose. Then they're playing hide and seek with the Duke's children and other children, along with accompanying adults, and Benjamin finds her on the ledge outside the window, and grows irate with her. He doesn't know what else to do, so he kisses her. Primrose has never been loved by anyone, not even her family. Benjamin will not trust a woman because his mother left with her French lover when he and his twin, Alex, were young. The house party goes to the nearby town to participate in their festival, and the men do a pie and pint relay. They also participate in a boat race, and one of Benjamin's friends falls out of the boat and hits his head on the side. She races in again, and saves his life. Primrose learns Benjamin cannot tolerate the sound of clicking jaws, and hers clicks. So she chews hard candy to drive him crazy (I think she's mad at him). One night, Primrose is going to the library to borrow a book because she can't sleep due to thinking about the kiss so much, and she overhears someone is going to steal a priceless priceless book. She tries to stop them, and gets kidnapped with the book. Benjamin was out walking the grounds, unable to sleep for the same reasons, sees what's happening, and jumps on the back of the carriage. After a day's journey, he rescues her, they sleep in a barn, and the next morning he gets abducted keeping her safe, and then she saves him by doing the same thing he had done. They hide in an inn, and in the morning they have breakfast with Lord and Mr. Sinclair and Duchess Raven. The thief takes the book onto a boat, and Benjamin gets it back, tossing it to Primrose on the bank. He then jumps overboard, and she jumps in after him, of course. They return to the house party, discovering that Alex has been thrown from his horse and is unconscious. Benjamin is distraught, and cruel to Primrose. He had taken her Innocents at the Inn, and his honor dictated he offer for her, and she turned him down. Her reputation has been ruined, though no one knows what happened, simply because she was abducted and alone with men. Lady Jane takes her back to London and is insistent she marry a grandfather who needs a young wife to provide an heir. When Alex awakens, he has a heart-to-heart with Benjamin and gets him to realize he can trust Primrose, but then Benjamin is ill for a week. He rushes to London, but Primrose is gone, having run away because she will not marry that man and she has nowhere to go, as her parents have rented out the house for the year. He discovers she's gone off with her only friend, Heather, who is eloping with Jeremy to Gretna Green, and he chases her down. He rescues her again from the thief, pulling her out of a stream where the thief had tossed her. He confesses his love, she calls him a liar, but somehow he's able to convince her, and they get their happily ever after.

Wow!!!
I just loved this book!! I just loved the Langley Sisters series!! I just love Wendy Vella writing style!! This was such a nice story - the time flew while I was reading it, I did not get my chores done today. This is a book you can read alone, but if you have read the Langley Sisters Series you will love all the past characters who attend the house party. Ben and Primrose are simply “lovable”, even when Ben opens his mouth at the wrong time and place. Go read this book, go read the whole series.

This shook it up a little bit and I am beyond relieved. I enjoyed this book a lot more than the previous book in the series. The hero and heroine had good chemistry, could feel the tension between them flow off the pages. A quick, easy read and I actually enjoyed reading their story.

Definitely felt as if this book could easily be read alone and you would easily understand the world and know the characters from previous books. I do love this series, even if the plot mostly repeats itself, it’s just such an easy escape for a few hours. I felt a lot of emotions reading this.

Loved it

Ben and Primrose's story was great. And I love Primrose, she feels all alone in the world she is unloved by her family and she believes she could never be loved by other. Ben has issue he's been dealing with since he was 12 when his mother abandoned them, the twins. And has a vow never to trust or love a woman. They must overcome challenges and their issues in order to find happy ever after.
It was well written and characters realistic. I even loved that she included the Sinclair and Raven clan in this book.

It's just so easy to recommend this author. She's become a very safe one-click, pretty well always 5 star author for me, and I don't say that lightly.

This book is WONDERFUL. If you've been reading the other series in Ms Vella's collections, you'll particularly enjoy the cameos. At one point I found myself saying an excited (in my head) "NICE!!" when a particular group turned up hahaha! However, you definitely don't need to know the intricacies of the other series in order to fully enjoy this one, I promise.

As per all of Ms Vella's books, this is dual POV with vibrant fully formed characters, beautiful growth arcs which are completely in step and sympathetic with the circumstances, a little heat (done so incredibly tastefully) and a little mysterious danger thrown in to spice things up, as if the tension between the H/h isn't spicy enough hehe!

The heroine is an absolute cracker! Quick witted, spirited, bordering on sassy. I absolutely fell in love with her while my heart broke for how shabbily her family had treated her.

The hero is perfection. Surrounded by a huge loving family, he carries scars of his mother's abandonment with him in a way even his twin brother is unaware of. Primrose (our heroine) follows that trope of crawling accidentally under his skin by virtue of being so unusual, and challenging what he thought he knew of society misses. He's protective, flawed but redeems himself and heroic in the best ways.

This is just a beautiful, totally absorbing story (as my sleep deprivation will attest - thank goodness for long weekends lol!), and I can't recommend it highly enough if you enjoy historical romances with bright, bold, fun characters and engaging story lines with wholly satisfying happily ever afters.

Benjamin Hetherington is a man who doesn't need a woman in his life. His brothers both have happy marriages with women they love. Ben knows he doesn't have the capacity to love and trust any woman. He is perfectly happy with his life as it is, or so he thought.
Primrose Ainsley is not your typical young debutante. Her first and only season has been a total failure. She is honest, stubborn and knows that she is unlovable. Her family has proven that by foisting her on a stranger so they can concentrate on what is important to them, botany and trips around the world to find new specimens of plants. Primrose doesn't have their passion for plants and knows she never will. The house party that she is attending is going to be the last social event for her.
Ben doesn't know what to make of Primrose, she is beautiful, spirited and intelligent. She brings out feelings that are not familiar to him. He can't seem to stay away from her. Primrose is baffled by Ben's actions. He keeps pushing her away, but they seem to be doing a lot of kissing. Can Ben leave behind all the beliefs he has about women and admit he wants Primrose? Can Ben convince her that she is not unlovable? If any two people need a happy ending it is Ben and Primrose!!
I really, really enjoyed this book. The characters are amazing, and you get to revisit other wonderful characters from the previous books in this series. A very heartwarming story with heart-stopping danger and steamy passion. Wendy is a wonderfully witty author who makes me laugh out loud. "Well there you go, then. I want a wife who barks like a bullfrog". I have all of her books and they are keepers to read over and over. Wendy's books are a must read for all Historical Romance Fans!

Oh no! Here we go again.

Although the granddaughter of an earl, Miss Primrose Ainsley is definitely not debutante material. Too honest. Too outspoken. Too rash. Too kind. Too dangerous. Thankfully, Primrose never expected to be loved by society, much less ever fall in love and get married.

As the brother of a viscount, Mr. Benjamin Hetherington knows how to play society's game. He is handsome, wealthy, witty and single. A matchmaking mama's dream. Thankfully, no one knows that he is also determined to never love and never marry.

What happens when Primrose and Benjamin keep crossing paths at the duke's house party is at the center of The Lady's Dangerous Love by Wendy Vella.

This stand-alone novel is both humorous and dramatic. The characters are likable, the story is well written and the dialogue is edgy with a plot that has multiple twists and turns. In addition, with the added element of danger, the eventual happy ending is all the sweeter and enjoyable.

I enjoyed this read, and I also enjoyed becoming reacquainted with characters from prior books.

Content alert: In addition to (40) religious expletives and passionate kissing, there is one descriptive bedroom scene.

Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.

I have had this on my TBR list for a couple of months & I am sorry I waited so long to read it! I was so good & all the characters (main & secondary) were fun & endearing with a lot of humor!

Primrose Ainsley is feisty, speaks her mind, sweet, caring, honest, innocent, a daredevil & not the definition of a debutante. Primrose really doesn't care if she is ideal except her parents have sent her to London with her Aunt to find a suitable husband. She just wants to go back to the country & doesn't care about love & marriage.

Handsome, rich, flirty & funny, Benjamin Hetherington is the brother of a Viscount & understands how to schmooze his way through society - plus he know how to avoid the overzealous Mamas trying catch a bachelor for their daughters to marry. He will never love, let alone marry after his mother left him & his siblings on their own - she hurt him deeply & he will never trust a woman for himself.

Benjamin & Primrose has an adventurous journey to a HEA which includes her in water escapes & rescues, kidnapping, danger, beatings, chases, elopements, lies, loves & more. I highly recommend this story & all the books in the series. They can be read as stand alone books but reading the series in order draws you in to the characters you will love & meet again in the other books.

What can I say that I have not already? I am just in love with this series! It is absolutely one of my favorites! I read it from start to finish at least twice a year… And I am excited to add this one to that list now!

Mr. Ben Hetherington is surrounded by family and friends who have found true love; however, he has decided the chance of risking is heart is not worth the ultimate price of heartbreak. He already suffered the ultimate loss when his mother walked away, leaving him emotionally scarred and guarded.

Miss Primrose Ainsley is unloveable… or so she believes. She’s worth more to her family married off than she is in their home and lives. Primrose’s plan is to survive the season and then settle for a comfortable life, even if it means to continue without love.

He has never met anyone like her. Ben continually finds himself trying to rescue Primrose and she in turn saves him. Their eventual salvation comes in the form of love.

The Lady’s Dangerous Love is a roller coaster of emotions and suspense. It is filled with new characters you instantly love and old ones you will never forget. I also love how Wendy Vella intertwines some of the characters from the Sinclair series (another favorite). Congratulations Ms. Vella on another wonderfully written story!

The heroine is bright, bold and courageous

The Lady’s Dangerous Love is a great blend of entertainment and adventure. It’s perfect for an afternoon on the couch, a breezy escape in a hammock or a blissful day on the beach.

Miss Primrose Ainsley is bright, bold and courageous. Thanks to some pretty mediocre family members, she also thinks herself unloveable. During a house party, Primose stubbles upon Mr. Benjamin Hetherington, talking with his sisters-in-law, and without true malice, he unwittingly confirms this notion for her. So begins a series of encounters that find these two good people, damaged by their parents, locking horns (and eventually other things) as they fight and bask in their very on HEA.

Bonus, the Sinclairs and Ravens make a cameo appearance and use their special senses to lend a hand during one of the many adventures you’ll find within these pages.

While not my favorite from Miss Vella, The Lady’s Dangerous Love has many of the things I love about her writing and is certainly worthy of a read.

ROMANCE THAT YOU FALL IN LOVE, FIND A BEST FRIEND, YET AFRAID OF YOUR INNER TRUTH!5

5 STARS for Book 6 of this series from the Historical Romantic Regency Era, it is well written filled with colorful characters that the majority of have been in Books 1 - 5 of the same series, and of course friends Ravens & Sinclair's from series of their own; I will add they are a delicious enjoyment with a hint of mystery. (Or have certain talents not quite, everyday human.) A twin Ben, who has been holding out from marriage because of some underlying emotions gets tangled up with Prim Rose, who doesn't want to marry any members of the Ton. Prim Rose, believes she is Unlovable and therefore doesn't believe in flirting, but her & Ben end up in one adventure to another, from casual to dangerous. Maybe the universe is trying to tell them something. Great dialogue between characters, shows bonding between new friends that will last forever, highlights several times that being real, your true self even in a smile, is more welcomed by others, and take a chance on love.

It follows the usual romance recipe

This is a story about Primrose a woman of 25 who is considered to be on the shelf. Her family has finally decided to have a friend of theirs try to marry her off because they are tired of supporting her.

She and her guardian Lady Jane attend a house party where Primrose meets Benjamin. Here is where the misunderstandings begin. Primrose dislikes Benjamin. Benjamin is intrigued and begins to purse her. She gets abducted by the villain of the story. Benjamin rescues her. She is ruined and flees even after he offers for her. Misunderstandings abound and the story ends with all the misunderstandings are resolved and they marry.

There is one sex scene, for those who need to know. It’s not a vulgar scene and done fairly tastefully for a romance novel. I would give it a 3.5 star rating because it is a familiar plot line that is used over and over. The writing is ok, I did have trouble getting into the story, the H and h are both pretty lackluster and the misunderstandings are a little silly.

A story that is different

The beginning, for me, the characters a little childish, maybe a little much. I didn’t feel I was part of characters or into story. The hero and heroine a little out of touch. But later in the story things really started to gel. I liked the hero Ben, though he was a little stubborn and set in his ways. The heroine Primrose was a go getter, very brave and strong. They both had very sad childhoods, to try to overcome and reach out to someone. The farther, into story, the more I was drawn in, and the latter part, I could not stop, I had to find out what happened, and read till after 1 am. I was in bed, and usually fall asleep while reading. Ben’s Family, from previous books in the series, are a favorite of mine. They are so interesting, and fun in occurring parts. A very interesting family. This can be read as a standalone, but much better, in my opinion, to read in order. I highly recommend this book, as I do the complete series.

Love the beginning

What man doesn't like advice from a woman? In this case, Ben was cornered by his sisters in law! Penelope was the woman for him. Right! He'd danced with her 3 or 4 times and he'd found her silent. She said as little as was required and no more. Why in the world would he want to marry her?
Yet her he was, stuck at a country house party with all his family and Penelope and her chaperone, Lady Ann. He's just compared her rather loudly. To an elderly woman's unpleasant toe when his sisters in law looked appalled. There was Penelope standing just a few paces away, having heard the last of their conversation!
That should take care of that. Shed probably never speak to him again.
All I can say was after starting out with such an embarrassing, or possibly mortifying is the better term, encounter, I couldn't wait to find out what happened! This was such a good novel, with a little everything to keep you glued to its pages. Enjoy!

Another Langley Sisters book that had me laughing and crying.

Primrose was a sad case with parents and a brother who did not want her around since she was not as devoted to their botanical interests. Yes, she loved flowers and plants, but not to the extreme they did.

Wanting to be "rid" of her through a marriage, she is forced to attend ton events where she does not really fit in.

Then the Langley Sisters step in to help and the laughter begins.

First, they want her to "hook up" with Benjamin, a close family friend related by marriage, but he is not really interested owing to the heartbreaking desertion of his mother as a child. Even his own twin brother does not know the depths of despair and anger festering in Ben.

Unbeknownst to both Primrose and Ben, there is some nefarious plots happening at the house party they are both attending and more laughter, as well as tears begin.

Another Langley Sisters book that was hard to put down, once I started reading.

A brilliant story! There was so much humor to the story I laughed the entire book. This is the 6th book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. There were characters from previous books that made appearances in the story and even the Sinclair family (which I also adore) popped in to help! Primrose was such an adorable character. She was smart, unpredictable and very courageous. She had a tendency to get into trouble very easily! Benjamin seemed to think he had to “rescue” her often (even when she didn’t need help J). The story was so captivating and had so many surprises (lots of water and kid-napping). I’m a huge fan of the author and definitely recommend this book and all of the author’s books!

Nice! Tired of being harassed by his family at a house party to marry, Ben rudely insults Primrose, the woman his sister-in-laws are suggesting to him as a boring nobody. She’s standing behind them. When Ben tries to apologize, he learns that Primrose was only being quiet and shy because she was disadvantaged and being sponsored by a family friend so trying to be inconspicuous. Once angered and free to speak her mind to Ben, she blisters him with rebuke. Now he’s interested. When Primrose is kidnapped while stumbling across the theft of a one of a kind rare botany text from the house, Ben pursues. Ben’s mistrust of women from his mother’s abandonment is a bit overblown, but mostly witty and amusing. Will check out more from this writer.

The continuing story of the Langley sisters and more are still a lot of fun. Primrose was a great heroine. She was strong and smart while still having some charming vulnerabilities. I was less thrilled with Ben. He took a frustrating amount of time to get over himself and there was a big deal made of his "idiosyncrasies" in the beginning of the book and I kept expecting them to make their way back into the story and they didn't.
I love seeing some of my favorite characters from another series I am an appearance. I didn't realize Vella considered them part of the same world.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Unloved

Primrose felt she was unloved by her family and was a burden to them. She was not botanist like her parents and brother. She was sent to her mother friend to go to London for a husband.
She meets Benjamin, he feel like she talks too much, doesn't follow society rules. She learns his mother left them after his father died. He vowed never to marry or get close to a woman to hurt him again.
She at a house party goes to get a book at night, hears someone stealing a prized book. She gets kidnapped and as they leave Benjamin see it and follow.
The adventure is on and the twist and turns. Will love happen for them?
Bring the tissues.

If your family doesn't want you, and shuffles you off to be married, to whom ever would take you off their hands, it isn't any wonder that you would feel unloved.
And, if your mother had walked away from you and your twin brother, when you were very young, telling you that love wasn't real, would you then suspect all women of such heartlessness.
So, how do two people with the above impressions of love, come together and start to realize feelings for each other?
You'll need to read the tale to find out!

Someone to love

Love the book. The series is phenomenal. Ben never wanted to marry. His mother hurt him so much when she left him he didn’t want to feel that love again. Primrose has never been loved and her family just wants her gone. She believes she is unloveable.
Taking several dunks in the water, saving Ace from drowning and then being kidnapped, Primrose is ruined. Ben offers for her but she refuses. When Alex is seriously injured Ben becomes rude, ugly and unbearable towards Primrose. Can Ben realize his feelings before it is to late.

exciting constant adventure and mishaps

Primrose believes herself unlovable. She is a wonderful heroine, brave, loyal and feisty. She’s uninhibitedly honest. Constantly rescuing things and people and getting into trouble whenever water is involved. Ben has emotional scarring due to his mother’s abandonment but he’s intrigued by Primrose. Their adventures are exciting and complex. Bens ultimate revelation is almost too late. It’s an exciting story that doesn’t really slow from one calamity to another. This maybe the best of the series for excitement.

Argh! These two are so charmingly frustrating. They’re fighting so hard against the attraction that’s naturally pulling them together, and then behaving like feather-brained idiots when they can’t. I loved Ben and Primrose, but I spent a lot of this book badly wanting to shake some sense into the pair of them. However, I also wanted to consign Primrose’s family to the deepest, most fiery pits of the underworld for the way they treated her and what they had taught her about herself and her worth.

Without repeating the entire synopsis of the book in my review which can be easily retrieved on one's own, Wendy Vella produced another intriguing, adventurous, and romantic novel. Her expertise is in the communication, often sarcastic, clip, yet humorous and entertaining. As difficult as it to create a different plot amidst her numerous books, she has done it once again. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a historical old English royal romance.

I loved this book. It had everything I look for in a novel and I got it free. What a deal! Now I'm reading more books by this author. I think she's great. This book had a great story line, adorable, lovable lead characters, the bad guys with dangerous intentions, some sex but just enough and not smutty. For my tastes, this book was perfect and highly recommended to all who look for the same features I love in a book.
