Winner of The Benjamin Franklin Silver Award for Young Reader Nonfiction in 2020! You have probably heard the word Disney before. Come on, who hasn’t? You’ve seen Disney movies, watched Disney TV shows, and maybe even visited Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Did you know there were two brothers with the last name of Disney who created this entertainment empire? Walt and Roy Disney built the world’s most popular theme parks and brought to life some of the best-known cartoon characters in family entertainment. The story of their lives is a wonderful tale of hard work, determination, and cooperation. While this book is primarily about Walt Disney, his story can’t be properly told without including his older brother Roy and the strong bond between siblings that propelled them to worldwide fame and fortune. Illustrations throughout this biography help tell the story of how two farm boys from the Midwest went on to build one of the world’s most successful entertainment companies.

Wonderful book to introduce Walt and Roy Disney to young readers. I’m a fan of Aaron’s other titles and he does a great job with this book.
Aaron offers a glimpse into the Disney Brothers and how their entertainment empire came to be. Aaron doesn’t sugar cost anything and he provides a well-researched and well-written book. There are no myths or tall tales here; just a great look at the Disneys.
This is a fantastic book for kids to read before their next trip to WDW or Disneyland.
If you’re looking to learn some Disney biographical history, but don’t want to invest hours upon hours on a Walt-specific chunkster, this hits the highlights of these incredible brothers’ lives. Disney people should absolutely pick up a full-on Walt Disney biography, too, but I think this slim volume will attract a wider readership to start.
It’s really complete but easy to understand. It summarizes really well the whole story of Walt Disney and completes it with the story and participation of his brother. A perfect book to understand the Disney story since the begging in a simple and fun way!
Love this little quick read book, very informative, growing up in Florida , great to learn all the backgrouind info. For any Disney fan its a must read.
"The small family business, founded in 1923, grew to so much more than the studio that created Mickey Mouse. Not too bad for two farm boys from the Midwest" Quick, interesting and to the point!
I am currently looking for a book to use for our elementary’s One School One Book program for 2019/2020, and at first glance, this title seems to be a great fit.
I need a title that will appeal to kids from kindergarten to 5th grade and their families (check). It needs to be relatively short and easy to read, with some illustrations (check). It can’t be a book that is taught in the classrooms (check). This year, it has been requested that we find a book with some sort of creative or artistic component (check).
But there is a quote in the book from Roy Disney where he recounts Walt calling himself a horse’s a$$. And there is at least one “he11” in the book as well. It might be a deal breaker which would be sad...
