Famed former Cubs player Ron Santo lists the top five players at every position in the history of the franchise with explanation for each decision, along with statistics for every player and dozens of photos throughout.
There's not much depth here. But as a lifelong Cubs fan, I still found it interesting and enjoyable. Probably not for anyone other than Cubs fans, though.
Not all of the choices hold up (most notably ranking Sammy Sosa as a greatest right fielder, over Andre Dawson), but it reads just like the banter in the WGN Radio booth.
This is a good, light book for a die-hard Cub fan (even harder after this season). Not illuminating, but certainly entertaining especially if you grew up with Ron Santo at 3rd base.
