4000 Essential English Words is a six-book series that is designed to focus on practical high-frequency words to enhance the vocabulary of learners from high beginning to advance levels. The series presents a variety of words that cover a large percentage of the words that can be found in many spoken or written texts. Thus, after mastering these target words, learners will be able to fully understand vocabulary items when they encounter them in written and spoken form. Each unit presents 20 words which are defined and used in sample sentences. The activities in the books are designed to present the words in different uses so that learners can fully see how they can be utilized. Also at the end of each unit there is a story whch contains the unit's target words to give learners further examples of the words in use. Each level properly prepares the learner for the next which progressively challenges the learner with more sophisticated vocabulary and stories. Key features include: (1) Clear, easy to understand definitions and examples; (2) Various activities to reinforce target vocabulary; (3) Progressive development of vocabulary across levels; (4) Original stories which utilize target words; (5) Useful color images that illustrate each target word; and (6) Free downloadable supplemental audio recordings of target word lists and stories to aid in listening and pronunciation.

About the author

Paul Nation is Emeritus Professor in Applied Linguistics at the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies (LALS) at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. His specialist interests are language teaching methodology and vocabulary learning. He supervises PhD research on vocabulary. He has taught in Indonesia, Thailand, the United States, Finland and Japan.

اولین جلد از مجموعه ۶ جلدی ۴۰۰۰واژه ضروری انگلیسی تموم شد .البته من کتابش رو نداشتم و با اپلیکیشنی به همین نام این جلد از مجموعه رو خوندم، واژه های این جلد خیلی ابتدایی بودن برای من و خوندنشون بیشتر حالت مرور داشت برام؛ ولی در کل برای خوندن واژه به نظرم کتاب خوبیه🙂

جلد اول از مجموعه ۶ جلدی ۴۰۰۰ واژه. در این جلد واژگان ابتدایی ولی ضروری ذکر شده، و با چندتا تمرین و یک متن برای هر درس (که از واژه‌های همون درس در متن استفاده میشه) مفهوم واژه‌ها رو به خوبی به خواننده یاد میده.

Its a beginners level book for teaching 4000 simple English words to help you improve your vocabulary. The words are given with examples on how to use them in sentences. This way it clears the meaning & also teaches on how to use a particular word in a sentence.
Also, after every set of 10 to 15 words, there are some exercises given, which will further enhance the understanding & also check whether you have grasped the meaning of a certain word or now.
Overall, its a good book to teach you vocabulary at an early stage of learning.

This is an easy self study book that could help you to review introductory and common words.
I have studied the book by listening to its audio CD that the narrators, read the words, sentences and the following short reading text as small story.
I recommend it for someones who wants to listen to an English lesson when he is at the kitchen table.
