Managing a coffee shop isn’t as easy as it seems on TV. Neither is magic. Or murder. Lou’s got her hands full. When her new BFF’s father confesses to a murder she’s sure he didn’t commit, Lou is determined to get to the truth. But with all evidence pointing in his direction, it seems hopeless. Until someone else dies and it turns out nothing is as it seems.
Struggling to get her business off the ground, Lou turns a trailer into a coffee shop on wheels for a coveted spot at the famed Arts in the Park. It’s almost fun, even. That is, until the trailer starts moving itself and items begin to disappear.
One thing’s for sure, with a murderer on the loose, Lou’s life is at risk. Even the new vision magic she’s been learning can only help her see so far. The more she digs into her own history, the more secrets she finds that were better left undisturbed. And when her not-quite-a-boyfriend’s daughter starts showing signs of magic, her life is about to get even more complicated.
Can Lou find the killer before the killer finds her?
Fabulous read. Wonderful characters from the sarky Mocha to the fumbling (sometimes) new witch. A plot that is tight and well thought out but it still leaves the question of Ronnie. Plus it doesn't quite answer why her magic is so different to the others. Hopefully this will become clear in the next book. When the head of security (of the local casino) is found dead, Wren's father confesses to the crime. However everyone thinks that he is covering up for someone so they start looking into it. Plus her lessons have started taking a switch from the norm and her flirtation with Max is going full steam ahead. Until she realises that his daughter is showing signs of having magic. Embezzlement, another body, magic used to kill, a Chief that doesn't care for the truth but just wants crimes off their books, a coffee shop to set up and run and how will Max react if he ever finds out she uses magic. Can they find out who did what, when and why? Will Max see her using magic? Will she be able to cope with any new information she gets about her biological parents and family? Will Max ever ask her out?
Lou is back, and she's got a lot on her plate! Her new cousin's father has confessed to murder, she may need to base a fledgling relationship on secrets and lies, she's made a disturbing discovery about her past, she is expected to teach what she hasn't mastered herself, and she has a ridiculously tight timeline for opening her new business! One would almost think Lou would be too busy to nose about crimesolving, too. At least her talents seem to be expanding...That's a GOOD thing, right?! I really like these characters and the realism (and comedy) in their interactions. The whodunit question kept me going right up to the surprising reveal. This series really reads like more than just another paranormal cozy, and I look forward to the next "Magic Bean" mystery.
At least this time, Lou is not a suspect. But she can't not investigate, her magic seems to work well as an investigation tool. On top of that, she has decided to reopen the coffee shop and run a mobile coffee shop as well, for advertising. Miles, a former big city detective, and his daughter, Sarai, have shown interest. The problem is, he doesn't believe in magic! Well written, with great characters and storyline, with just a smidge of romance make this a fun read.
This series is driving me crazy I’m waiting for her other series book to come out so thought I’d give this a try. Enjoyable likeable characters, funny interesting but so slow at times. However it’s really got me invested so going to keep reading. Worth it to read just be prepared, slow at times.
I enjoyed this book better than the first, I know first books have to explain the character and where they have moved to and their past, which I personally thought she did well! I am well into this witch family!
