This combination of text with cartoons chronicles the situation where there is to be an election for the home room class president. The class bully is a boy called Tank for obvious reasons and he has decided to run for the position. Others in the class do not want to be politically “ruled” by Tank, so they want someone to oppose him. With the help and persuasiveness of the wheelchair-bound Clint behind him, the much smaller Guy agrees to run.
This infuriates Tank and he attempts to use the only tactic he knows, namely threats, to win the election. Clint proves to be a strong ally and early in the story it is obvious that he is the one that should be president. This provides a backdrop about how people with disabilities should be taken seriously when positions of authority are being filled.
This is a fun story to read, even though the conclusions are obvious very early. There are two main lessons in it, standing up to a bully and how to deal with people with disabilities.

It was really amazing because it was funny - especially when he was scared to be class president!

My students liked this one and I thought some of the little jokes were clever, but overall, it did nothing for me.

this book was pretty good i thought. And it was about this kid named Guy, and he wants to find material for his school newspapaer comic strip. he really wants to call it " Comic Guy". But in the middle of the book he find's himself in a wild race for homeroom president, against the bully of the school, Tank, and Ollie the science room pet monkey..? The truth is that Guy never really wanted to run for class president. And the only reason why he was elected was bec ause his friend raised his hand at the last minute and said that he thought that Guy should run. And he was talking to his friend Clint ( the guy that elected Guy for president ) and Guy said " that you would make the best homeroom president". Clint got mad and then he threw the speech in Guy's lap, and wheeled himself away, because they were already working on a speech for Guy, and Guy just decided to say to Clint that he should run instead of Guy. Later on that day Guy has to give the speech, and he looses his voice, and Clint stands behind him, and says what's on the paper that him and Guy wrote together for the speech. As the story goes on Guy make's comics about what is happening during the days.To find out the rest of the book your going to have to read it, because i don't want to give away the ending.

Guy makes comics for the school newspaper ("the most popular feature" to the dismay of super serious Zoe) about his life and school. Love how at the end of each book, the author gives lessons on creating comic strips. In this first book of the series, Guy is running for home room class president so that school bully, Tank won't be in charge. Lots of fun characters - especially love their wacky science teacher, Miss Lizzy who loves experiments of all kinds and lets the class pets run loose. Mixture of comic and longer text.

This book is about Guy's class election for who will be the class president. Tank and Guy are running for president. Tank is Guy's greatest enemy, so that's why Guy signed up, so Tank wouldn't have to be the president. On the last day of the voting, Guy's new best friend Clint says he'll be running too. At the end, Clint wins the vote.
