Agnes' hard life from a young age leaves her feeling scorned and unloved. As she works long hours in the castle's kitchens, she is shunned by the other servants. While Agnes accepts her lot in life, she is surprised when she encounters the Laird of Edinburgh, William. Although he is kind to her, Agnes knows he is only being polite. But William's heart flutters whenever he sees her. But there is someone in the castle of Clan Anderson who does not want William to be around Agnes, and they will do whatever it takes to remove her from William's life. Too late, William realizes the deadly secrets of the castle and mourns the loss of Agnes deeply.
Highland Deadly Secrets, my third read from historical romance author Blair Keith. My wife is a Scottish romance reader & sometimes books she reads influence me. I don't restrict myself to a particular genre. I'm a sucker for anything with memorable characters and a story that keeps me guessing. The perfect novel? A book that keeps me turning the page long after I should have called it a night. This was a well-written book, I'll definitely read more from this author, in fact after reading this I went out & purchased 3 Blair Keith collections totaling 28 books. I was given an Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. Andrew McDermott' excellent narration adds to the enjoyment of the book. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
With betrayals at every turn. It seems when someone meets with tragedy, it never stops at that. To continue to live on in betrayal and believe that nothing better will ever come to you. Such is the way of most of us who endure these trials of life. Luckily, this story has a happy ending, at least. Well written as a book and brought to life in Audible by the wonderful narrator Andrew McDermott. Well worth the read and the listen.
