Malibu University #1

Nothing But Trouble

Rate this book
A standalone novel.

Reagan Reynolds...
Water polo god.
Owner of a face that belongs under Wikipedia’s definition of drop dead gorgeous.
Too charming for his own good.
But most importantly––the worst driver on the planet.

No, really, I’m pretty sure his blind nana taught him how to drive.

I had no idea who he was until he almost ran me over. And frankly, I kind of wish I still didn’t because then I wouldn’t have a sprained ankle to show for it. And my leg wouldn’t resemble a boa constrictor that’s swallowed a feral pig.

Yeah, it’s that bad.

I’ve spent years saving every penny I’ve ever earned to be able to transfer to Malibu University. And now my entire future––including my scholarship––is in jeopardy.

So I either accept the help he insists on giving me, or lose everything I’ve sacrificed for.

In the meantime, I’m going to ignore the fact that we’re becoming friends.

And I’m definitely going to pretend he’s not turning into the object of my…umm, dirty fantasies.

That’s not happening.

Not even a little.

Because the minute I clapped eyes on him I knew he was nothing but trouble.

USA Today Bestselling author P. Dangelico loves romance in all forms, furry creatures, the NY Jets (although she’s reconsidering after this season), and to while away the day at the barn (apparently she does her best thinking shoveling horse poop). What she’s not enamored with is referring to herself in the third person and social media. Although she was born in Milan Italy, she’s been Jersey Strong since she turned six.

➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic Newly arrival in town Alice’s day starts to slowly edge towards being one craptastic one. First her tin of crap car that she purchased on the cheap side breaks down, then she’s nearly bowled over by a jeep wrangler. Moving out of the way quickly she dives for safety eating grass and dirt as she lands. Not long afterwards it feels like a knife is carving up her ankle.

She had no idea who he was..He's a big thing on campus.

❝ He looks like a Disney prince. Clean cut, close shave. Expression open, stare earnest. He even has the requisite dip in the chin. All he’s missing is a red cloak.❞

From this point onwards an up and down friendship is established, which results in them spending time with each other daily, he turns into her chauffeur whilst her ankle heals ❝ He's a barnacle. A monkey on my back. Toilet paper stuck to my shoe. All metaphors for shit you can't get rid of.❞ but over time it comes to a point where neither are wanting to give in to their attraction, which puts them both in the friends zone, both knowing deep down though that it would wreck their unusual friendship they have going on.

She's a scholarship kid needing to focus on her main goal of making independent films where she'd submit them to production companies and the like and he's focused on medical school which has them both branching away in separate directions which wouldn't work anyway.

❝ From the moment I clapped eyes on him I knew he was nothing but trouble.❞

My first initial thought was these boys and this town are going to eat her alive and spit her out, but she surprised me with her sassy quick wit.

As soon as I started this I was beyond hooked, full of all one would expect of a collage romance to more, from angst, to the banter, to the swoon moments galore.

Anything with highschool jocks I am all over it!! Add in the hot guys doubly spiked up my anticipation levels. Throw in water polo which I've never read about before and I was a goner. Then the hotty on the cover, I have no shame to say that, that pretty much cinched the deal. I had to get my hands on it. And I'm glad to say that this ticked all my boxes, a slow burn between friends that simmered away in the background weakening them both into becoming more.

'Nothing but trouble' is a light enjoyable read with a slow-burn-friends-to-lovers relationship in a college setting. Alice Bailey is a college transfer from New Jersey. She is fiercely independent and self-reliant. Unfortunately, on her first day at Malibu University she almost gets run over by a local water polo champion, rich, successful, and drop-dead gorgeous Reagan Reynolds. Alice refuses any help. At first, Reagan, whose parents instilled in him a healthy fear of lawsuits, is relieved, then, he begins to feel guilty. When he realises Alice lost her job and might even have to drop out as she is not able to move without crutches, Reagan does everything to win her trust and friendship. They begin to spend more and more time together, but Reagan is convinced his last year of pre-med school is not the right time for getting involved seriously with anybody. There is a subplot about Reagan’s brother and his personal tragedy. Eventually, Reagan does understand Alice is the person who understands him, supports, occasionally puts him in his place and is somebody who is much more than a friend.
I loved the dual POV in this novel. The story seemed so much richer being told from the two perspectives. The characters are well-written, whether you agree or disagree with their choices and their behaviour. At the beginning, Alice seemed way too sarcastic, but as the novel progressed, this quality completely disappeared and instead we saw a sweet and loyal girl. I didn’t think the last twist (the last 5%) was completely necessary or overly realistic, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book.
I will be definitely looking forward to more novels by P.Dangelico.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion.

The d*ck wants what it wants. You can’t reason or argue with it. But I also know you’re also not supposed to want to bury it inside your friend.

Truth be told, I struggled with my rating for this book. A lot. There were parts to it that I really loved. But then there were parts that simply didn't work for me. Ultimately, the more I sat on my rating, the more I came to the understanding that some of those parts that I struggled with had unfortunately slightly overshadowed the parts that I loved.

Let's start with what worked for me. I love me a good slow burn, and Nothing But Trouble sure delivers on that front. What starts as an unlikely friendship between polar opposites soon begins to turn into something more. I loved the meet cute of Reagan almost running Alice over. When poor Alice severely twists her ankle after ducking out of the way of Reagan's oncoming car, a series of unfortunate events soon follow her. Poor Reagan has some serious guilt over his part in all this and essentially stalks Alice down and begs her to let him help. There was just something so incredibly endearing about this big man on campus that all the girls swoon over being a bit of a puppy dog in trying to get Alice's attention. I loved their slow building friendship that happens almost grudgingly.

Now what didn't work for me. The constant back and forth between Alice and Reagan started off cute, but somewhere after the 50% mark, it began to get frustrating and annoying. It went from a slow burn to just plain dragging for me, and I began to lose my connection with these characters. Then Reagan pulls such a juvenile and boneheaded move at one part that had me wanting to rip my hair out. He does something out of jealously that was immature and spiteful and I couldn't look past it for the entirety of the book. The fact that their romantic relationship starts immediately after he does this was even more frustrating for me. I spent half the book loving on Reagan and being almost frustrated with Alice's easy dismissal of him. And then he did what he did and it had me wanting to reach through my kindle and slap him.

But then there was the last 20% that added an additional emotional element that I really enjoyed. It made this book so much more than just a sports NA romance. I really loved the feels that were packed into this part of the story.

I will say that even though I struggled with this book, I was still hooked on the series and the slew of secondary characters that we're introduced to. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series. I wish I loved Nothing But Trouble, but due to the somewhat immature characters and the overly stretched out back and forth between them, it fizzled down to just a like for me. Don't get me wrong, it was still a fun NA read and I'd definitely recommend it for fans of this genre. This was a case of my own personal biases working against a book, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. Read it and judge for yourself :)

Engaging story, likeable characters with drama and romance thrown into the mix. A great read is all about the characters for me, and both Reagan and Alice are well-developed and memorable. They start a friendship which suits both of them and establishes a trust between them, before they inevitably give in to their burning attraction. This leads into a very sweet romance. Reagan & Alice have terrific chemistry and heat. The ups and downs that they experience draws you onto the story even more. I highly recommend it to readers who want romantic heat, emotional depth, and amazing characters.

In short:
Hero 4/5 | Heroine 4/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 4/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 4/5 | Romance 5/5 | Angst-Suspense 4/5 | Darkness 2/5 | Humor 3/5 | Secondary Characters 4/5 | Drama-Conflict 4/5 | Mystery 0/5 | Twists 4/5 | Pacing Fast | Action 3/5

5 "You're my hero, Jersey." Stars

I loved this book. A perfect blend of friends-to-lovers, angsty, witty, New Adult romance. P. Dangelico created two characters for whom are perfectly suited yet weren't anywhere near ready to meet that perfect match. A calamity of a friendship ensues forever altering the ways of both the Reagan Reynolds and Alice Bailey, Jersey Girl.

Dangelico's dual point of view story telling style worked great within the structure of her character development. I was glad to get both points of view in this book and both equally played important roles in the forward motion of the plot. Both Reagan and Alice had personalities you can't help but fall for which makes them such a great couple. Charming, sarcastic, and a penchant for easy yet brutal honesty makes them an unstoppable and highly enjoyable force. This author's writing and world crafting worked so well for the age group she's portraying and the setting of her story, which also played a huge role.

This story was everything I look for when it comes college-aged romance. It had an athletic component, great camaraderie between two separate friends groups, intrigue, banter, angst, excellent writing, and most importantly great characters. I highly recommend Nothing But Trouble to those who love fun, NA Romance. Can't wait for the next installment of the Malibu University series - there's some characters whose stories I most definitely need!

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Reagan is one of the good guys. He’s not just a pretty face and a hot body. The man/boy is all heart. He’s sweet and understanding, and despite the fact that he sees me as an asexual amoeba with a dry sense of humor, I like him.

Who’s ready for a new P. Dangelico book?

I swear it’s like Christmas every time one of these beauties lands on my kindle and lucky for me, Nothing But trouble is no exception.

Alice and Reagan don’t exactly meet cute, but they sure do manage to make an impression on each other. Scholarship student Alice is just trying to keep her head above water as she navigates the reality of finally being at her dream college. Unfortunately for Alice, that reality includes a POS car that’s decided to give up the fight. When a trek across campus leads to a near collision between her and a jeep, Alice is left wondering who the arrogant hottie that left her with a sprained ankle is and why does he expect her to already know who he is?

Based on his status as supreme hottie of all the super-hot water polo menfolk, Reagan is legitimately perplexed when Alice has no idea who he is. Not in a cocky way, mind you, but more of a delighted surprise kinda way. Who knew there were still girls out there that didn’t automatically succumb to his awesomeness? Reagan’s guilt has him offering to chauffeur Alice to and from class until she gets on her feet. Reagan’s money and big man on campus status has Alice turning him down flat. Of course, Alice eventually gives into the charm of a free air conditioned taxi service and the two strike up a quick friendship.

One of the things I think Ms. Dangelico does really well is character development. It doesn’t hit you all at once and it’s not over the top, but by having Alice and Reagan friend zone each other for a decent chunk of the book, it gives the reader more time to actually figure out where these characters were coming from. I also didn’t have to wonder if these two were genuinely falling for one another because the reader is shown, not told, which is a huge plus for me. From the beginning I knew Reagan wasn’t the entitled rich boy he appeared to be, but Alice realizing that fact and not dragging out that issue for most of the book was refreshing to say the least. Drama for drama’s sake is so not my jam.

My heart knots, a painful reminder that things are rarely what they seem. That even the ones we assume are living the life we covet, without a care in the world, are dealing with their own little shopping cart full of issues.

I loved the kind of slow dance these two did around the other and the fact they didn’t just jump into a relationship right away or go through the dreaded insta-love thing. It took a little longer for Reagan to realize the feelings he had for Alice were more than friendship, but isn’t that always the way?

“I feel like shit. I think I’m catching the flu.”
“Nah, bro. You’re catching feelings. That’s love making you feel like shit. Welcome to hell.”

There are a few reasons this one didn’t quite hit the 5 star mark for me. There were times Reagan handled his feelings in a way I didn’t quite understand and that seemed a little out of character. Luckily this wasn’t a prevalent issue and I was able to move on. I also felt the pacing at the end of the story was a little speedy. There’s quite a lot of buildup as far as a couple of different things are concerned and I would’ve liked more time dealing with those things.

P. Dangelico is on my list of favorite go to authors for a reason. I can always count on a well written, character driven story that brings both the feels and the laughs. Nothing but Trouble is part of a new series and luckily, we still have books to look forward to. I don’t like to play favorites, but I hope Zoe’s book is next. I also hope Brock’s book is next. Oh, and I hope they’re the same book.

I am completely unable to resist a well-done slightly angsty, new adult slow burn. When done right, these books completely pull me into their orbit and do not let me go until I turn the very last page (and sometimes even longer). I feel like I'm a part of the story, wholly invested in the characters, with my heart along for every peak and valley on the road to love.

In case you were wondering? Nothing But Trouble was one of those books for me. Gah! I was so addicted to it! Held captive to Ms. Dangelico's words from the banter-filled meet-cute to the emotion-filled happy ending. This is only my second book by this author, but it's enough to mark her as the "real deal" for me, because for the second time? She delivered a book I didn't ever want to put down.

The burn was perfect. Alice and Reagan's friendship was charged with sparky heat from the very beginning and even as they worked so hard to keep each other at arms length, they steadily lost their hearts and took mine right along with it. I loved their friendship. I loved their adorable, playful banter. I loved the way they loved each other, even when it hurt. Simply put: I loved them both so freaking much!

I also loved the complexity and depth that Ms. Dangelico gave these characters. There are some hard hitting emotional punches delivered along the way, and they only served to draw me in deeper, and wrap my heart more firmly around Alice and Reagan both as individuals and as a couple. It was a compelling story - even beyond the romance.

On top of all these things, sports romance is one of my all time favorite tropes to read, and yet I've never read a water polo story before. Now? I. Am. Hooked. I mean, the water polo itself is obviously not the main piece of the story, but what I got of it was interesting and fun to read and the guys on the team? They were drool-worthy, fun, and hilarious - in all the same ways that make other sports romance such a pleasure to read. I loved this so much, and cannot wait to get more in future stories.

All this is to say, Nothing But Trouble is a fantastic kick-off to the Malibu University series. My heart ached and burned and fluttered furiously over the course of Alice and Reagan's story and I am beyond excited to get my hands on more where this came from! ~ Shelly, 4.5 Stars

Short, sweet, simple.

I fell in love with this couple. Reagan & Alice are IT. Period. I’m thinking I need to check out Water Polo a bit more.

And, I absolutely adore this author and can not wait for the next installment in this series. I am hoping we see a lot more of Reagan & Alice and get some more closure to their beautiful story.

If you enjoy slow burns, and sexy men, and witty heroines, pick this one up. I definitely loved it!! Another couple to add to my fav list♥️

✔️ A sexy water polo god
✔️ A sassy heroine unimpressed with his god like status
✔️ An amazingly sexy and surprisingly emotionally charged college romance

Alice is a scholarship kid who is new to Malibu. She doesn't fully get why Reagan is such a big deal on campus. Before this book, I was right there with Alice. I mean what's so amazing about water polo? Well, well, welll... After reading this book... O.M.G! I get it. I so get it. I was caught up in the excitement of this game while reading this book and my appreciation for the players even more so. P. Dangelico I've discovered has a way of desrcibing her heroes in such a way that their sensuality leaps from the pages. This was no different and my love for Reagan in and out of the pool was just bloody shameless!

Alice fights Reagan's attention at first. She assumes he's just a rich kid that's all about just having fun. She on the other hand has to stay focused on her goals to maintain her scholarship. Their banter was witty and the dialogue was LOL hilarious. She slowly realizes that she judged him too quickly and these two form a friendship. From here, their story plays out like a friends to lovers with the sweetest of slow burns that will have you burning with anticipation!

This book took a rather surprisingly emotional turn and all of a sudden this was no longer just a fun, sexy NA romance. The story took on a depth of emotion that I never saw coming. Their path is definitely bumpy and they make mistakes, especially Reagan, but their romance was so sweet, so sexy and so absolutely swoon worthy!

I LOVED all the secondary charaters. Both Reagan and Alice have their group of friends who already have such clear, distinct personalities. The guys are all polo players as well and I've already paired up couples in my head. We'll see if I'm right in the future books!

Get ready to laugh, get ready to swoon and get ready for a fun yet deeply emotional college sports romance you do not want to miss!

***4,5 "Mixed Signals!!!" stars***

"Although he started as nothing but trouble, he's become everything and more..."

Wow!!!! Just wow!!!
I haven't read yet all books by P. Dangelico, but this book was the best!!!!
Even though i wasn't expecting it, this book had it all!!!
As unbelievable as it seems, it was a very emotional reading for me at times, and others very funny!!! And very sweet, of course....
The characters were amazing... Not only the main couple, but also the secondary characters and I can't wait more of them!!!!
Also, the pace of this book was so good... A huge slow burn romance which at some point, i have to admit that it frustrated me as hell!!!

All started with a hot man who had learned to drive by his blide nana (Bahaha!!!) and as the result, Alice ended up with bad mood and a sprained angle...
THE Reagan Reynolds (Big Deal!!!) had guilts about that result, so he was making it a mission for him to help Alice with everything she needs, but Alice doesn't want anything from him and she is kind of rude to Reagan...
But Reagan is a very persistent guy and he doesn't back down...
And from that moment, a strange, but strong friendship is starting between them... But the attraction is underlying between them all the time...

"My head knows we're only friends. My heart and the rest of my body strongly object to this arrangement."

So what will happen after all???
Will they risk their friendship in order to become something more or their friendship will be an obstacle in their heart matters???
Will their differences stand in their way???
And what about all the rest of their problems???

""I was thirteen and the first lesson I learned about love was that it could ruin your entire life."
"Do you still believe that?"
"No.
Not since I met you, the words form in my head.
And that's where they stay."

"You've taken up all real estate in my head... You've owned it since the day I met you.""

Well, Alice was a wonderful and very strong person...
Her life isn't the best and most of the time, she doesn't see the glass half full...
But she is trying her best to make her dream come true, even with many sacrifices...
Reagan is way out of her league and he is not her type at all, but slowly and steadily, he is winning her over, but she never loses her fire and i liked that very much!!!
And of course, all these mixed signals are getting on her nerves, and mine's too!!!

"I wish I knew how to keep some emotional distance between us. Which is definitely in my best interest because the mixed signals haven't stopped. I can't decide if "he's just not in to me," or he can't make up his mind. Neither of which do me any good. And between the sweet gestures and the heartfelt talks, he makes it impossible not to fall for him."

Reagan was rich and popular... A water polo God!!! But he was such a great guy!!!
Seriously, guys!!!! He was sooo... wonderful!!! And even though, he seemed to have everything, he had his own problems and they were way too serious...
My heart was breaking for him and... Nope, i can't tell you!!!!
The pressure that his parents were dambing upon his shoulders were... too much and i could understand how he was feeling!!!
He had so many opened issues, that he didn't want to drag Alice in them and i respected him for that, but still... All this sexual tension was driving me crazy!!!

"My life is so complicated right now I can barely keep my head above water. And Alice... she's the only good thing in it. I can't risk losing her by asking for more and then not giving her what she deserves."

I really loved this book and I'm waiting like crazy the next book in the series...
And I'm wondering... Who's turn is next???
Maybe Dallas??? Maybe with Dora??? Hmmm???
Maybe Brock and maybe with Zoe??? Hmmm???
Maybe Blake??? Or Cole???
Whoever's turn in next, i just CAN"T wait!!!! Please hurry, P.!!!!

"You know what possessiveness is?"
"Toxic?"
"Nah, man. It's the soul's recognition that the object of your affection is so precious and singular you know you'll never find another."

And for the end...

"Love doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's inextricably interwined with self-sacrifice, vulnerability, risk... and yes, pain. Maybe that's why we're so often disillusioned by it. We demand it to be perfect when in essence love can't exist without the risk of pain and the cost of safety..."

4 1/2 stars. I really enjoyed this. Reagan carried such a burden, trying to live up to his parents expectations and still be true to himself. Plus the situation with his brother is completely heartbreaking. While I didn't like the mixed signals he kept giving Alice, I completely understood that he wasn't doing it on purpose. He wanted her, but didn't want to hurt her. He knew it would not end well and wanted to spare her heart. Alice was an awesome and sassy MC. She let Reagan know when he crossed the line. I felt like sometimes she let him get away with to much, but she was also fighting her feelings for him. Superb story line with engaging secondary characters, Just missed 5 stars because I wanted a bit more from the reunion scene at the end. I understood Reagan's reasoning for what he did, but it was still a crappy thing to do and Alice deserved better groveling.

Alice Bailey recently moved from New Jersey to Southern California to attend Malibu University. She's saved and worked most of her life to make her dreams come true, and her top priority is getting her film degree. She's on track and everything is going great until she has the day from hell. One bad thing after another happens with the grand finale being a gorgeous guy almost running her over. Now she's left to deal with a sprained ankle and her scholarship is in jeopardy. Not left with many options she's forced to accept help from the beautiful, privileged hottie who can't drive and looks like a Disney prince.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Reagan Reynolds is a big deal on campus and everyone knows who he is as one of the stars of the Malibu Sharks water polo team. The water polo players are like the gods at the university. Reagan's life has been mapped out for him since an early age. He's a responsible guy who does things by the book, so when Alice is having trouble because of him, he feels bad, and wants to help her. They begin spending a lot of time together, and soon it becomes hard to ignore their intense connection. His world is full of expectations, and he's exhausted between classes, practices, and games. He's not looking for a relationship, and even though they share a mutual attraction, they decide to be only friends.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

-I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Reagan is one of the good guys. He's not just a pretty face and a hot body. The man/boy is all heart.

-He makes it impossible not to like him.

-His body is a work of art.

-My head knows we're only friends. My heart and the rest of my body strongly objects to this arrangement.

-I've never met anyone like her. She's smart and fun to be around, talented and passionate. And she gets me. I can't even articulate all the ways she gets me. She's the most precious thing in my life by far.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Alice wants the one guy that's forbidden. Reagan has become the object of all her dirty fantasies, and his constant flirting and sexy grins drive her wild. Alice also makes Reagan feel just as out of control with desire, and he's not sure how much longer they can stay in the friend zone.

Nothing But Trouble is book one in P. Dangelico's new Malibu University series. It's a fun, flirty, standalone novel full of explosive chemistry and sexual tension. I really enjoyed this book, and this author is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I can't wait for more in this series!

Nothing But Trouble was so much fun thanks to the impeccable writing from P. Dangelico. Her humor just works for me. Guys in Speedo’s and water polo - hell yes.
Alice and Reagan’s first meeting sets the tone for this wonderful friends to lovers romance. Alice doesn’t bite her tongue around Reagan and tells it like it is. He pushes her buttons and it serves up amazing and sizzling chemistry. They complement each other perfectly.
Reagan’s friends and roommates are definitely intriguing and so are Alice’s leaving me very very excited for the upcoming books in Malibu University series.
Nothing But Trouble is a good time but it also deals with some serious topics such as addiction and depression which suits the story great. This NA series kicked off with a bang and I’m already salivating for more.

Rich guy, Poor girl.
Boy meets girl when he almost hits her with his car.
She ends up with sprained ankles.
He tries to help her but she avoids him.
He is persistent and slowly they become friends.

He is very possessive but keeps giving her mixed signals.

I liked the beginning. It was cute. But then the H’s mixed signals got irritating. The middle parts were dull. Then came the weird latter part.
Overall, I was intrigued and so I kept reading it. I liked the H and h’s friends. They were good supporting characters. Hence, the 3 stars.

I’m sure the friends will get their own books. And I think I’m gonna read them.

Things were going so well with this book - the hero and heroine were great but then...

1 - Hero becomes a HUGE selfish coward and then has the audacity to blame the heroine when she did nothing but support him

2 - Heroine becomes a pushover and just gives in to him and I don't get my grovel!

So disappointed

Best Line: "Just because my vagina is blinded by his good looks doesn’t mean my head stops working" - shame that this doesn't hold true

Worst Line: "And I let him. I let him put his arms around me and hold me tight because I love him. Despite the pain he caused me." - because we should let men break our hearts and then forgive them as soon as they touch us?!

If you know about a water polo ( In Croatia especially on the south, it's quite a popular sport and our team is very successful in it) you would understand the hotness of it all... If you don't know much then you will for sure be tempted to google about it.

"Umm..."is all I can come up with because -one, seriously? Two, who cares? Not me. Not this girl with busted car, and world of trouble. And three, the hell is water polo anyway?

Mmmmmh Alice dear aren't you in for a pleasant surprise!?! Ooooh yes!

NOTHING BUT TROUBLE is the first book in a new series by amazing P.Dangelico. She is serving us slow burn a la New Adult with all the good stuff we love in college romance with special Dangelico sauce, I'm to be honest with you now just used to it.

Alice, our heroine is a hardworking, loyal, introvert who takes life by the horns and lives each day as her last. I love her comebacks, her loving family and her awesome circle of friends.
She is the girl you like to hang out with and have in your corner. She is an amazing support system.

She is also not impressed with our hero.
So he is a famous athlete and drops dead handsome ....

Raegan, our hero. Already mentioned gorgeous hunk...

But wait he is so much more, oh yes...
He is a super talented water polo player, great friend, smart future med student, and a good brother.

Then we have meet-cute that starts great friendship filled with some off the charts chemistry and funny banter....

"He wears skinny jeans Bailey," he continues right over me . "That's your type? A guy that models himself after a vampire book? Is he going to want a blood oath at some point in your relationship?"

In slow-burn fashion, they take their time and after being friends first become a couple.

Insert in the mix some emotional hardships with the family, them navigating all the studying slash partying and some jealous colleagues you get a fun, feelgood yet very inspiring story.

"I feel like shit. I think I'm catching the flu." " Nah, bro. You're catching feelings. That's love making you feel like shit. Welcome to hell."

That is kind of P.Dangelico style she will give you sweet , she will definitely give you strong but be certain she will give you hopeful .... characters and story all a while and after reading it with big ol' smile on your face.

I enjoyed especially this great group of side characters.

"Shotgun, " Blake calls out. "I guess I'll ride on the hood", Zoe grumbles. "You'll make
a beautiful hood ornament," I tease.

It was very entertaining to read about all of them and to get to know them and of course trying to figure out who will pair up with who.
( Not so secretly very excited about Dallas and Dora).

But because I am that person....

yep, that one... I don't know my measure and I always want more...well and promise of what is yet to come is oh so freaking amazing.... I can't wait....

Remember they are coming....

Until then get on board and start to read this series!!!

Special mentions;

* heroine is cinematographer and sport featured in the book is water polo, yay diversity not just in characters but in all the other things like this
* emotional aspect of the story with realness of our everyday world we live in, in topics such as drug abuse, loss of a loved one, cancer, and overall carpe diem vibe
*million little things in characters build-up that makes them complex, genuine and relatable

"I don't know what the future hold and neither one of us harbors any illusions that it will be easy. But I know I don't want to face it without him."

*Thanks to NetGalley & author for giving me this copy in exchange for an honest review.

Nothing But Trouble was my first book by this author, and it definitely WON’T be the last!

I didn’t know how desperate I was to read a brilliantly written NA, sports romance until I started this book. I can honestly say I can’t remember the last one I read. So this book was the PERFECT story I needed at the PERFECT time. It’s like my hypothetical ‘NA romance maidenhead’ grew back, and this book blasted right through it with a battering ram. Was that a little TMI?....oh, well….you’ve most likely read worse, so you’ll survive. *shrug*

Nothing But Trouble has ALL THE THINGS needed in a great freaking novel! Humor, heat, friendship, angst, witty banter, chemistry, heartache and sickeningly sexy romance that makes your pulse race and your blood boil!

This story starts out with a bang….almost literally. *snort-laugh* (Just read it, then you’ll know what I’m talking about.) I LOVED the evolution of Reagan and Alice’s relationship….from somewhat enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, their connection was pure fire right from the start. And the more you learn about them individually, you can’t help but root for them to become a real couple throughout the entire story. Just when you think “YES, YES! It’s finally happening!”, a wicked wrench gets thrown into the mix, causing all your hopes and naughty dreams to fly out the window. My emotions were put through the proverbial wringer as I endured the highs and lows, the ups and downs, and maybe the ‘ins and outs’ *another snort-laugh* (see what I did there?) of Reagan and Alice’s relationship. You may be wondering, “But their love prevails in the end, right?”….maybe? Maybe not. Love isn’t easy. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies… no matter how much we wish it was.

This book was utterly fantastic! I fell in love with both characters immediately and didn’t want this story to end. The only thing I could’ve wanted was a bit longer of an ending. After Reagan and Alice endured so much in the story, the ending seemed a bit incomplete. It didn’t distract or take away from the rest of the story line at all, not one bit...that’s just me being greedy. I just wanted more!

Without a doubt, a highly-recommended must read! Don't pass it up!

5 Stars!

“Immovable mass meet unstoppable force.”

Alice Bailey has been saving for years to pay for Malibu Uni and she is living her dream but as her car breaks down, she nearly gets run over and sprains her ankle her dream is slowly dwindling that is until the guy who nearly ran her over also helps her.

I ended up really liking Alice she knows what she wants in life, who she is and who she wants to be.

Reagan Reynolds, water polo god. A man who seems to have everything popularity, speedo bunnies (no man whore here ladies) rich parents and not a care in the world has more lying beneath the surface then he wants to show. He takes his responsibilities so very seriously and he doesn’t want to conform to what is expected of him.

What really made this book great is Reagan Reynolds. I adore him so much and he is amazing, he is loyal and a real gem although he did a douche move into trying to make the heroine jealous.

This isn’t as slow burn as her other books but be prepared cause

But there are sexy times which gave me some tingles.

Whereas I cannot to wait to read about Blake, Zoe and Dora, Alice’s merry band of misfits. I’m not sure about the water polo team Cole, Dallas but I am up for Brock as he is a virgin but the others seem to be mega man sluts. Just sayin.

Ms. Dangelico and I have a love/hate relationship her books are either a hit or miss. I absolutely loved Wrecking Ball but couldn’t get on board with the others not for lack of trying this book however it was a delight to read except at the beginning and we got off to a rocky start.

I was so close to dnfing this book I didn’t understand the angry sarcasm the heroine had going on. Oh believe me I get sarcasm I was born sarcastic and I know anger but this just didn’t fit in with the heroine and her attitude to life especially when she knows how short life can really be. This has a lot of banter and is refreshing IMO. A good level of angst and surprisingly enough it was the Hero that showed a more vulnerable side did that make him any less alpha? Nope.

The ending was not what I expected it got another

I mean come on, how forgiving was Alice, I mean seriously yes he was going through some things but four months and zero sign that he is alive. I admire how forgiving she can be. So cause of the beginning and ending not being the best. What kind of closure is that for Raegan when it comes to what his parents have done? Zilch.

This is a good start to a NA series and I am intrigued to see what happens next.

“I’m always okay when I’m with you.”
I love sports romances and this one was about a sport that was totally new to me - water polo. I mean, I knew that it exists but I’ve never really given it a second thought. But yes, those guys need to be fit. So sign me up for more water polo romances ;)

I really enjoyed Alice and Reagan’s story and their sexual tension. The only thing that I missed was an epilogue or maybe another chapter. The ending was quite abrupt. I’m not a fan of epilogues that tell you about the perfect wedding and/or the couple’s 5-6 kids but I don’t mind a little glimpse into the future. I hope that we’ll get that in the next books of the series. I’m really looking forward to Dallas and Dora’s story!

Ugh.
I'm starting to detect a recurring theme here. This felt like Tiebreaker all over again and I'm getting seriously frustrated. Even more sadly, I'm slowly but surely losing my trust in this author.

I was so in love with this book. With Alice, with Reagan, with them as a (non-)couple, their banter and sweet moments. The side characters, the story, the beautiful slow-burn friends-to-lovers romance, the insane sexual tension. I even enjoyed the hot-and-cold behavior because it was justified.
In short: a straight-up 5 star read ... up until the 75% mark when Dangelico -again- had to go and ruin it all for me.

Look, as I've said before, I don't need my romance reads to be completely "safe". I can deal with drama, with angst, with the protagonists fucking up as long as there's enough groveling involved afterwards. What I cannot deal with is them purposely hurting the person they claim to love or like or whatever because of their fucked up, totally misplaced insecurities, and said person just letting that go as if nothing ever happened because... I don't even know... lack of self-worth? Rose-tinted-glasses? Horniness? Gah!
So safety-gang members and anyone else who values loyalty and good will in a character, you might really want to read the following spoiler.

After that, I was done. All the (needless) drama that came afterwards really didn't bother me anymore. The only reason I kept on reading was because I wanted to know what would happen to Brian, Reagan's severely drug addicted brother, who by then was the only character I cared about any more.

Last time this happened with one of Dangelico's books, I tried to reason with myself to still rate the book more or less objectively, which is why it ended up with 3 stars.
This time, though, I'm really pissed. It's just too frustrating to repeatedly fall in love with a book this much, to genuinely root for the characters and get wrapped up in their beautiful love story, only to end up being bitchslapped.
This is really getting old and I don't think I'm up for more disappointment.

This was a sweet and emotionally charged college romance. Alice is a struggling to make ends meet, college student and Reagan is a champion water polo player/Mr. Popular, rich kid. They are both polar opposites on the outside but their instant connection shows their more alike than they seem. Their meet-cute was more like a meet-disaster and Reagan has to work to get into Alice’s good graces.

Can I just say how refreshing it was so see an heroine stick to her guns and not fall all over herself for a pretty face or drool worthy body? Alice can find Reagan attractive but doesn’t let him get away with his BS behavior. I loved that she called him out more than a few times. He’s used to girls letting him get away with anything but Alice teaches him different and I liked that.

The story has angst, drama, plenty of steam and a friends to lovers plot line. It also has a bunch of interesting supportive characters that I’m honestly excited to read about. I’m not sure which I want to read more, Virgin Brock and sassy AF Zoe or shy bookish Dora and loud life of the party, Dallas.

If I had selective amnesia this book would have easily been a 4-4.5 star read. After thinking about it I settled for 3.5 stars. Reagan has a TSTL moment that really pissed me off and the way it was handled? Too easily forgive, imo. I get they weren’t together (still firmly in the friend zone) but I still could have done without the mandatory humiliation scene. Other than that one blip I loved Reagan. He was a good guy dealing with a lot of things outside of his control. His family is just the worst! And my heart broke for him. Doesn’t excuse his behavior or his twisted logic but I get why he freaks out and runs scared of his intense feelings for his best friend.

Alice was a strong heroine, when her emotions complicate her friendship she didn’t turn into the typical irrational love sick heroine. She was a great friend and she was strong and independent. I was really rooting for her and Reagan to finally that the plunge together.

The pacing of the story was great up until the end. I was left feeling like things get really intense one minute and then it got downgraded with a long break that ends with a quickie reunion chapter. I’m not a fan of prologues that start in the future. The spoilers always making me antsy.

Would I recommend? For those that don’t have such sensitive triggers, you’ll love this one. This is a great new series of college romances between a really tight group of friends. It’s funny, sweet, with just the right amount of heat. Here’s to hoping the series stays safe or safe (with exceptions) because my curiosity is piqued for at least 2 of the 3 friends.

Memorable Moment: I liked their reunion scene. It was short, to the point, bittersweet and still managed to be sexy. It also helped that Reagan said and did everything pretty perfectly to win his girl back.

Well, I'll be quick...

When I saw the title I was intrigued...thinking oh la la, this might be another college stuff sexy fast kinda thing...and on some level, it was...

But it also wasn't...

And the way this turned out to be smth more and way close to an existencial drama rather than just a sexy sweet slow burn 'friends to lovers' kind of read made me think how the very storyline had nothing to do with the title...

And I m rarely tossed away from the starting line like I was here...

I liked it but I didnt love it

3 ❤️❤️❤️🌟s

Although it was a sweet and lovable romance read, there were serious issues raised regarding rough family relationships, drug addiction and psychological stress.
Alice and Reagan had a remarkable chemistry, had a slow burn romance but plenty of back and forth.
The last part of the story didn’t make sense, was abrupt and very rushed. 😔

I luvd this book so much. I found this author through one of my friends and I'm so glad I did. I've luvd all her books so far so I was dying to get stuck into it. From the start I was hooked the story was just brilliant college sport romance is one of my favourite go to reads. I just know this is goin to end up being one of the best series. The characters that haven't even got books yet are brilliant. I need there books now I'm so looking forward to this series.

Reagan God where do I start with this sexy guy. He has everything goin him he has money, woman that are dying to be with him, he's sexy is hell, he's captain of the water polo team and he has a great future planned. There isn't much this guy doesn't have. But there is something family. His family are hard work his mum and dad are just crappy people. They put so much pressure on him but no one know what he has to deal with. Reagan just shows what he wants the world to see. When he nearly runs over the sexy girl that is Alice Bailey things change, everything changed, even he changed.

Free Image Hosting at FunkyIMG.com

Alice is a simple girl. She doesn't ask for much all she wants is to go to Mailbu to school to do to film scholarship she has been DYING to do. That she has saved for forever. Every penny has got has gone into her equipment and scholarship. Her parents don't have money like that so she has done crappy jobs to get way she is and it was worth it all. She sees life so different to a lot of people and it's refreshing. When she meets Reagan Reynolds things start to go a lil downhill. Well him nearly running her over was the best start. But then she couldn't get rid off him but she didn't want him gone either.

Free Image Hosting at FunkyIMG.com

This book is just the best. I really enjoyed it this author and her books are becoming one of my favourites. I fall for her characters all the time and her stories they suck you up into them. There were a few twists I didn't see coming in this story I was a lil shocked. But it made the book even better. I luvd that it was dual pov I enjoy getting into both of there heads. Both main characters have had there fair share of bumps but they make the perfect couple you probably would put them together but there so good together. The other characters were just as good like I said I'm dying for a few of these stories so I really hope they go the way I they will. I would highly recommend this book. I luvd everything about about it I really looking forward to more of this series.

“Most girls jump at the chance to stroke my ego. This one couldn’t wait to insult me.”

Nothing But Trouble by P. Dangelico is an angsty slow burn romance that puts an emphasis on friendship, vulnerability, dreams, sweet romance, and funny banter. We love this Author, she writes the most -easy to read- romances and we do have a sweet compulsion for a college romance every so often which made us excited to pick up this story. Told in dual POV Nothing But Trouble had a bit of everything from funny interactions to really hit you in the heart emotion.

‘He’s a barnacle. A monkey on my back. Toilet paper stuck to my shoe. All the metaphors for shit you can’t get rid of.’

Alice is a wonderful heroine, we completely connected with her introverted personality, her drive, her compassion, and her maturity. Her story was emotional and inspiring. A girl fighting for the future she wants, whilst learning about friendships and love through sarcastic girlie banter and a minor car accident involving ‘big deal’ Reagan Reynolds.

“You know what possessiveness is?”
“Toxic?”
“Nah, man. It’s the soul’s recognition that the object of your affection is so precious and singular you know you’ll never find another.”

What begins as an accident leads to an unlikely friendship between an extroverted and rich college sports hero, and a girl who is his exact opposite in so many ways. Reagan looks like he has everything anyone could want. Great looks, a sports hero with a fun and sweet personality. However, looks can so easily be deceiving and Reagan sure has some heavy emotional baggage resting on his broad shoulders.

‘What nobody ever tells you is that heartbreak is not a one and done deal. It happens in small, slow increments every day. A hairline fracture that compounds, branches until it becomes a map of all the pain you’ve endured. Until there’s nothing left of your heart other than a few sharp pieces you can’t keep together.’

Alice and Reagan had intense chemistry but too many complications between them, so a beautiful friendship is the next best thing right? Whilst real life rears its ugly head at both of them they must not only navigate the bumps it throws but also face the realisation that the heart wants what it wants. Love.

‘Love doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s inextricably intertwined with self-sacrifice, vulnerability, risk…and yes pain. Maybe that’s why we’re so often disillusioned by it. We demand it to be perfect when in essence love can’t exist without the risk of pain and the cost of safety.’

We really enjoyed this first book in a new series by P. Dangelico and cannot wait for more as we thought the rest of the team players were fab-u-LUSH and we need their stories! Not only that, there were some sassy girls in the mix too! Right….we’re off to google water polo players…le sigh! Not that we’re into that whole speedo bunnies thing though….
