After their one night together, there are explosive consequences.
When he disappeared after their last sizzling encounter, artist Fiona James vowed to forget rebellious billionaire Hartley Tarleton. Now Hartley has returned to Charleston to deal with the skeletons in his family’s closet―and maybe turn his searing chemistry with Fiona into more than a one-night thing. But now she's pregnant with the heir Hartley swore he'd never have!
Janice Maynard came to the writing life early! When her third grade short story, “The Princess and the Robbers”, won a red ribbon in a school arts fair, Janice was hooked. She followed up that early success with a more commercial piece in the sixth grade… “Why My Mom Loves To Drink Coke”. No advance for that one, but she won a six-pack of Coke… remember those great little bottles?
In junior high Janice began circulating her work to a wider audience. A dozen or so notebook pages stapled together made the rounds in some particularly boring classes, with the riveting tales carefully hidden behind textbooks.
High school meant the big time… editor of the school newspaper, the Maroon and White. Janice used her insightful editorials to delve into such meaty subjects as “locker room odor” and “why we need two-ply tissue in the student bathrooms”.
College brought lots of writing, but very little of it creative… four years later, Janice stepped into the adult world as a fully certified elementary teacher.
Despite motherhood, full-time employment, and keeping up with an “always into something” husband, Janice never lost her love of writing or the desire to be published. In 1996 she realized her long-time dream when Kensington Publishing bought her first book, Sweetheart. That exciting moment was followed by the sales of two more books in the Precious Gem line.
In the fall of 2002, Janice left the classroom to pursue writing full-time.
Bombshell for the Black Sheep is the 3rd book in the Southern Secrets trilogy. And oh my what an ending!!!!
I read the entire book in less than 12 hours! In spurts between work, dinner making and homework helping of course!! I just couldn’t put it down.
There’s an abundance of family drama with Hartley returning after being gone for a year under suspicious circumstances. With his return comes more drama, family secrets and his growing weakness for Fiona. There chemistry is off the charts!!!
Oh how I wanted Hartley to be oh so bad and Janice didn't disappoint. From the previous books you know that there was scandal between Hartley, his father and his twin brother Jonathan that caused Hartley to disappear for a year under suspicious circumstances. When he returns to town after a year of silence he shows up on the door of Fiona James. He had previously met Fiona before he left to handle the "suspicious circumstance" and they had a instant connection, landing them in bed together then and then once again three months ago. Fiona is shocked when he asks her to accompany him to meet with his family. Hartley is very aloof about where he has been and doesn't explain to Fiona that she is about to walk into the lion's den with this family. Especially his brother Jonathan.
The twist and turns that this story took, keep me turning the page until the very end.
You get the second chance romance with a bonus of a baby, family reunited, and of course the reformed Bad boy HEA.
If you haven't read the previous two books in the Southern Secrets Series, you can read this book as a stand alone but it so much better if you have read Blame it on Christmas and A Contract Seduction before reading this one.
Bombshell For The Black Sheep is the third and final book in Janice Maynard’s Southern Secret’s series. It's really not necessary to read the first two, as it's quite fine as a stand-alone novel, but I would definitely recommend you enjoy all three. I greatly enjoyed this book, and I would get your copy while you can - it is very well written, with lots of emotions from both characters in different ways (as well as the other characters in the story).
Hartley Tarleton has just returned to town, and he is asking Fiona James for her help. There are secrets that have been kept from his family, and, now that his father has passed away, he either needs to tell his siblings the truth or keep the secret forever. He's hoping that Fiona will stand by his side to help him face them; what he does not know that a one night stand has Fiona with her own secret.
The question is, will Harley do the right thing for his family as well as for Fiona? Does another secret from the past hurt this relationship? It is a must read to find out the answers.
Bombshell for the Black Sheep is Southern Secrets book number 3 by Janice Maynard. Hartley pulled a disappearing act soon after he meet Fiona Tarleton despite their “instant connection”. Being the final book in the series the reasons for his leaving and the family conflicts are a big part of the story. Still he owed Fiona an explanation or at least a warning before it all comes out in the open. Still Fiona has secrets of her own that also need to come to light. Entertaining story that is a fitting way to end the series with the Black Sheep returning home. It is a second chance romance that has other ties between the two main characters that is a surprise for Hartley. This will read okay as a stand-alone but the enjoyment will be enhanced if you had read the previous two books first. This is mostly to fully understand the problem relationship in Hartley family. The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I couldn't put down this final installment of this trilogy that has kept me guessing. It starts with the black sheep of the family, Hartley returning to town and confiding his family's dark secret of the past to his former lover, the beautiful and artistic Fiona. He had previously loved her and left her after a night of passion. Twice! Fiona soon has a secret of her own. If you are a fan of this trilogy you get to see what is happening in the siblings lives (Jonathan and Mazie) but it can also be read as a stand alone book. You are rooting for this couple to get past their own issues from their pasts and family's past to be together. I recieved an advance copy of this book from the author but voluntarily posted this review of my honest opinions. I couldn't put it down and read it in one night. I was so excited to finish and find out the outcome of this trilogy.
Bombshell for the Black Sheep by Janice Maynard is the final installment of the Southern Secrets trilogy. And what a finale it is! There are more twists and turns then a roller coaster in this story. Readers will get the explanation for Hartley Tarleton’s disappearance that they’ve been waiting for. Upon Hartley’s return to the family dynasty, we learn that he was been back in town a few times and during one of those visits, he meets Fiona James. Fiona brings a much needed calmness to what could be a very turbulent time in Hartley’s life, but she also has news that will send Hartley into a tailspin. Their chemistry is undeniable, but will they be able to make it last forever?
I did receive an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Bombshell for the Black Sheep is the final book in Janice Maynard’s Southern Secrets series. If anyone has followed this series, we knew that Hartley disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Upon his return to town, he immediately seeks out Fiona where we learn he has a past with her. He discloses that his father has died and he needs her support as he faces his family for the first time since leaving. Fiona is unsure whether to trust him but soon we discover she also has her own secrets.
Why did Harley leave? Where was he and what did he uncover about his family? And what is Fiona keeping from him? Hartley’s story is the perfect ending to this series. I highly recommend reading Bombshell for the Black Sheep. This is a standalone book, but I suggest reading the other books in the series. They are all so good! I’d like to disclose that I received an advance copy and this is my true and honest review.
I truly enjoyed this book. Fiona is not normally the type of heroine I really enjoy but I thought her character arc through the story was great. Also, I love Hartley... he was the perfect mix of sexy man and vulnerable.
#3 [He shouldn’t have said yes…After their one night together, there are explosive consequences. When he disappeared after their last sizzling encounter, artist Fiona James vowed to forget rebellious billionaire Hartley Tarleton. Now Hartley has returned to Charleston to deal with the skeletons in his family’s closet—and maybe turn his searing chemistry with Fiona into more than a one-night thing. But now she's pregnant with the heir Hartley swore he'd never have!] REVIEW: Bombshell for the Black Sheep by Janice Maynard We all have had That One… While your brain says no, your mouth and body scream YES! Can’t resist, whether it’s been one month or 1 year since you’ve seen him Enter in with your eyes wide shut Whose smile lights you from the inside out Causes you to throw caution to the wind Offers both great joy with great heartbreak Self-preservation abandons you, it’s nowhere to be found Hartley Tarleton is That One for artist Fiona James And she’s magnetic to him A female he can’t walk away from A desperate need beyond reason and A peace he so urgently needs Or he can’t return to the family fold and right the wrongs his distance and theft caused. She’s That One for him too!
Wow what a fabulous ending for a series! Bombshell for the Black Sheep is the third book in the Southern Secrets trilogy and is it ever full of surprises. We have already seen how Mazie And Jonathan Tarleton deal with life’s problems and each find love. Now we get to meet Jonathan’s twin Hartley who had a falling out with the family and has been in Europe. Coming back home is heart wrenching because his father died before they could make amends. Now that he is back in Charleston to stay he has a lot of decisions to make regarding why he left and disclosing secrets to his siblings. What he has discovered about this family has left him in a quandary whether to tell his siblings or not is the question. Before leaving the country Hartley met Fiona and now he wants to reunite with her. She is torn because he has left her twice and she can’t trust him she also has a secret and she must decide what to!
Absolutely enjoyed this book. Couldn’t put it down. Fiona and Hartley had a one night stand with sizzling chemistry between them. When he comes back to town to deal with family issues, he yearns to see if there is something between them still. Fiona plays hard to get with the rebellious Hartley. Hartley didn’t want children but what will happen when he finds out he now has one on the way?
Hartley is back, oh boy, Fiona is not happy about it. He needs a favor, Fiona wants to say no, but she agree only if Hartley tell her why he left her twice without goodbye. He finally tells her all about him and his trip to look for answers. She encourage him to tell his siblings about his findings, but he doesn't want to burden them with painfull truth. While trying to rebuilt his relationship with his brother and sister, Hartley gets another shoking news, Fiona is pregnant. This story is awesome, very well written.
BOMBSHELL FOR THE BLACK SHEEP is book three in Janice Maynard's Southern Secrets series and brings the family full circle when the elusive brother returns with a family secret that will rock their foundation!
Hartley was mentioned in the previous two books in this series and we knew that he unexpectedly left town and there's question about what he might have been doing in the company beforehand. This story brings him home with a secret that he's not sure he wants to share with his siblings. He sets out to mend fences with the woman that rocked his world and stole a piece of his heart just prior to him leaving town because he needs a big favor.
Fiona let Hartey into her life not once, but twice only to have him tuck and run without saying goodbye and with no explanation, so to let him get away with it again, she'd be a fool ... only he's hard to resist, especially when she gets the whole story out of him. Problem is, she realizes she's pregnant just as he's decided he will never bring a child into this world.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series. Each sibling's love story was commanding and heartfelt, and the series as a whole gave a really fulfilling story. I really enjoyed it and wish there were a few more siblings to hear about!
I’m happy to share my honest review having read this book a bit early ! It’s the final one in the Southern Secrets series that absolutely was perfect for wrapping up this series ! Hartley returns to his hometown hoping that his family will accept his absence even though he has secrets that can further upset the family dynamics. He’s also keen on reaching out to Fiona who’s been mystified by his unexplained quick exits. So much family drama And sweet sexy sizzling scenes to keep those pages turning so fast that you may want to just allow a single reading session to finish this fantastic story ! I found myself struggling with the old phrase of “ just one more chapter “ , but I couldn’t wait to see what happened next constantly! I loved Fiona & Hartley so much as they came to grips with their emotions. This is my my new favorite series of Janice’s & I’m a bit sad to see it end but she sure gave me one of my favorite HEA ENDINGS of all time ❤️👍🏻😘 BUY NOW!
Wow! Shocking surprises, feuding brothers and sexy couples! That's what readers have to look forward to in Bombshell for the Black Sheep by Janice Maynard, the third book in her Southern Secrets series. Hartley Tarleton disappeared a year ago and his father and brother were not at all happy with him. Seems he took something with him that he shouldn't have. He did return home once but he just saw Fiona James then. Well, he did more than see her. A little hanky panky may have been involved. Now Hartley is home for good and secrets of family history will come out.
This is a very well-written story with loveable characters and much going on. I loved watching Fiona and Hartley work on their HEA. I also loved getting to see the characters from the first two books in this story. A super finish to a great series!
“Bombshell for the Black Sheep” is the final book in Janice Maynard’s Southern Secrets trilogy.
We finally get to meet Hartley Tarleton when he returns to Charleston after mysteriously leaving the year before. Artist Fiona James, who met Hartley months ago, tries to be strong around him and not allow him back into her life since he’ll only end up leaving again.
I really enjoyed “Bombshell for the Black Sheep”. Secrets were revealed and sexy times to be had as Hartley and Fiona found their happily-ever-after.
Ms. Maynard gives readers a very satisfying conclusion to the Southern Secrets miniseries.

An utterly and completely satisfying conclusion to the Southern Secrets series!
I was anxiously awaiting Hartley’s book ever since he was first mentioned in the first book of this trilogy. He seemed so mysterious; his disappearance from his family’s lives fueling my overwhelming curiosity about his big secret. In the end, he wasn’t so mysterious at all. Hartley turned out to be a big teddy bear, not only with Fiona, but also with his family…and I adore him for it.
It doesn’t hurt that this book also utilizes my favorite romance trope, a surprise pregnancy!
It would be easy for me to go on and on. But alas, I don’t want to spoil your fun.
You can’t go wrong reading this book. Take a few hours, sit back, relax and enjoy pure romance goodness with Hartley and Fiona. You won’t be disappointed!
Hartley has been gone from Charleston for a year except for one visit three months ago. Became to see Fiona., the girl from the wedding party he was part of. They’d spent the night of the wedding together and that night three months ago. Both times Fiona awoke to an empty bed. But he’s back. Ready to tell his family where he’s been and get answers from his dad about the secrets he uncovered while he was away. But his dad is dead and with him, all the answers Hartley uncovered. He’s shared them with Fiona but vows to keep it from his siblings because he doesn’t want to kill their happiness. Little does he know Fiona has a secret of her own.
When Fiona shares her secret, Hartley walks out. Then his father answers some questions from the grave. Hartley has to come clean and has to decide what he wants.
This was a great read. I couldn’t put it down once I started it. Janice has hit yet another home run with this book and the whole series.
Loved this book. Janice Maynard does a good job of putting the pieces together.

Bombshell for the Black Sheep is the 3rd installment in the Southern Secrets by Janice Maynard. In this novel we learn the story of Hartley, the aforementioned Black Sheep. He comes back to town and seeks out Fiona James, an aspiring artist, whom he shared a couple of nights with before disappearing. Family Secrets are revealed to the cast of characters that we met in the first two novels, which brings the entire clan closer together. As the story progresses, we see the ups and downs, highs and lows of Fiona and Hartley's relationship, culminating in a big surprise that could make them or break them. The story ends with a few more surprises and announcements. Could there be a continuation of this wonderful family?
They say timing is everything. Hartley and Fiona have it. Then they don’t. A lack of communication and secrets threaten to keep the bombshell artist and the very eligible black sheep apart. Will family history keep them from each other or bring them together?
The conversations between Hartley and Fiona are witty and wicked . . . but talking always got them in trouble. The hot romance between Hartley and Fiona is revealed through Maynard’s sexy tale. The unexplainable pull of attraction is too much for either to resist, and Maynard’s storytelling is riveting. A fun romantic read.
This book was given to me for an honest review. This is the third book in a series. It is the first book that I have read of this author. I will now have to go get the previous books to see how we got to here. I enjoyed the book and felt it was a story well written and told. The characters were believable because these things happen in real life. I would recommend this book to others.
This final book in the series was the best! I'm usually disappointed in finishing up a series - too easy storyline, no guessing the ending. Bombshell for the Black Sheep was the exception! Family drama, romance, personal convictions, WOW! This black sheep lover was my favorite!
Well this one ends this series and it was a bumpy ride for all involved, no spoilers from me, but it was exciting and a final HEA for all - enjoyed my paperback copy and will pass it on to a friend!
