Season of the Sorceress: Poetry and Prose

Rate this book
Bestselling poet Melody Lee brings us her third book, Season of the Sorceress. The collection is broken down into four sections: Fireflies, Wildflower Moon, Black Widow and Rebirth. Lee paints personal experiences and tragedies elegantly into poetry and prose: life lessons of hope, empowerment, enlightenment. She brings the reader with her on her journey of enlightenment and rebirth. Lee has a magical way of connecting her reader to her stories, her poetry, her heart. She begins with self-reflection, by takings us back to her childhood, tapping into memories and base emotions. Her words flow like water from a sacred fountain. Lee writes about love--agape, eros, philia-- being broken by it, growing and finding enormous strength from it. "Without love we are empty vessels, a mass of nothingness. There is no greater power than love, even when it burns us and hurts like hell. Always there something divine that emanates from love." She scatters ashes of romance in each chapter, interlaced with mystical and witchy themes. And true to her free spirit, you feel the gypsy heartbeat pulsing throughout the book.

I had the honor of pre-reading this glorious collection of poetry from a powerhouse poet of fierce truth. Highly recommended for your first 2019 poetry purchase of the year. This is a gorgeous book, there's no other word for it, exquisitely designed front cover, addictive artwork throughout, and well laid out and planned. I have become a true fan of Melody Lee since being introduced to her intelligent, spellbinding and wise work. She's far more than a poet, she's a speak of our time, she's a woman's woman, she's your best friend handing down necessary advice, she's a woman we'd like to meet. Melody Lee's witty, insightful, captivating and beautifully written poems and prosetry are honed by her own experiences, insight and awareness of the way of the world. You will not fail to be moved and inspired by her courage, strength and willingness to share herself on the page. A gorgeous read.

Melody is a master of weaving magic into quotes that take up residence in your heart. While I enjoy her romantic pieces, I’ve always been drawn to the moody, darker vibes that she captures so well. In her third book, she blends them both into journalesque poetry and prose pieces that leave you contemplating live, love, dark, light and everything in between. Her words are real and relatable, and they remind the reader that every life experience is a learning tool. Beautiful book!

Beautiful imagery, empowering poetry. This collection of nature-celebrating, feral women standing up for themselves is a true must-have go-to guide for every woman. Melody's clever weaving plays on words makes this her superior collection. Can be read during any season, but this book screams "FALL"... Autumn conjuring a creative, pensive, contemplative existence. It's lighter than all that, but also complex enough to keep the reader intrigued and reading til the very end.

I love how Melody Lee dips a little deeper into her dark side and pulls beauty from the shadows. This collection by ML is my favourite of hers to date. If you are a lover of Moon Gypsy or Vines, this one will blow you away.

Melody is a poet after my own heart. She brings a mystical magic to each page of this gorgeous book. To read her words is to be invited into Melody's heart. Each poem part of her most intimate feelings. Season of the Sorceress will make a beautiful addition to any poetry library.

I love Melody's poetry except for her heartbreak and relationship 💔 poems. I guess I should be happy that I cannot relate to them. On the other hand, I love, love her words on being a misfit and living your truth. She is my new favorite poet!
