Years ago, Cesare's pride had been wounded. Now Sorcha Whittaker's company needed his expertise--he would bed her, and then dump her... all for revenge! Sorcha was still the sexiest woman he'd ever known. Their passion was incredible, be it in the boardroom, his office, the bedroom. The hard part now was walking away... .
I was told off as a child for making up stories—little did I know that one day I’d earn my living by writing them!
To the horror of my parents, I left school at sixteen and held a bewildering variety of jobs: I was a London DJ (in the now-trendy Primrose Hill), a decorator and a singer. After that I became a cook, a photographer and, eventually, a nurse. I waitressed in the south of France, drove an ambulance in Australia, saw lots of beautiful sights but could never settle down. Everywhere I went I felt like a square peg—until one day I started writing again and then everything just fell into place. I felt like Cinderella must have when the glass slipper fit!
Today, I have the best job in the world, writing passionate romances for Harlequin. I like writing stories which are sexy and fast-paced, yet packed full of emotion—stories that readers will identify with, laugh and cry along with.
My interests are many and varied—chocolate and music, fresh flowers and bubble baths, films, cooking and trying to keep my home from looking burglarized! Simple pleasures—you can’t beat them!
I live in Winchester, one of the most stunning cities in the world, but don’t take my word for it—come see for yourself! I regularly visit London and Paris. Oh, and I love hearing from my readers all over the world…so I think it’s over to you!
You have got to be kidding me. The hero is hell bent for revenge because…seven years ago the virginal h said no to his unemotional, loveless, That’ll do, pig proposal.
So, no secret baby, no suspected lover in a bed, no evil father that had seduced your sister or robbed your family of their birthright. Not even a wrecked Penismobile by the h’s younger brother or suspected affair that actually disguises a hertofore unknown father/daughter relationship. The h just said “No thank you” to a loveless marriage.
It’s now seven years later and the big bad wolf is smacking his lips over the heroine and zzzzz.
Loser city.
The characters had little connection other than sex, and hands down the H was so disinterested contrary to what the author wants us to think.
7 years ago they dated, but they didn’t go all the way. She rejected his marriage proposal. Now he is back for revenge because she once rejected him.
This HP is about equal rights for women. She is not a virgin anymore after those 7 years apart. He would have liked to be her first, but he is not, and she challenges his way of thinking because he is also not a virgin.
Anyway, they hop on each other and have loads of sex whenever and wherever they can. So very modern. Very realistic too that a 25-year old woman isn’t a virgin anymore.
I didn’t like it. I don’t read HP’s because I want reality. I want the fairy tale. The man to be a sexy arrogant billionaire, the woman to be a virgin. Like Cinderella.
What I also didn’t like, was that when he went away after their affair, she followed him. And she was the first one in the HEA to say ‘I love you’. It should have been him following her and saying it first. After all, Cinderella didn’t chase the prince.
This was a super weird "romance". In that, they were fuck buddies who liked each other, but couldn't figure their shit out. And I'm currently reading a similar story. Where they obvs like each other, but just can't figure out what the hell the problem is. I'll tell you....the writers. That goes for you Sharon Kendrick and you Margaret Way in Outback Angel. Ech.
Why it was a Xmas release, idk, because this didn't take place at Christmas.
Explicit scenes cannot substitute for characters and story. Did not finish; book went past romance and slid into smut territory.
Plus the whole premise is stupid. We are supposed to believe a bus whiz was so insulted that an 18 year old girl turned down his proposal - because she, oh I don’t know, wanted to go to college and maybe wanted to experience life before she married and started a family - that 7 years later he’s burning for revenge and plans to seduce and dump her. He didn’t bother keeping in touch dating, just had a snit and left.
She loved him but refused to marry him and then slept with someone else when he left her. seriously? Years ago, Cesare's pride had been wounded.
