Charles Perrow's book "Organizational Analysis: A Sociological View" is full of insight about how organizations assimilate structure and technology in their pursuit of goals. He works from the premise that organizations succeed best when they are responsive to the needs of societies and consumers. I enjoyed reading about how some military sector firms use birds as part of their missile guidance technologies and quality assurance programs. Victor Vroom, father of "Expectancy Theory"' edited the 1970 book edition as part of Yale University's Behavioral Science in Industry Series.
