What would you do if you had even one more hour a day devoted solely to growing your business and making more money?
I wrote this second edition to share the most frequently asked questions and answers with you. I will walk you through my own proven step-by-step process for matching clients with the right virtual assistant – the VA who will have the most immediate impact on your business and allow you to recoup your investment quickly.
As one of the leading experts in the field, I’ve been featured in Woman’s World, CareerBuilder, Spark Hire, Thinkific, and The Muse. More importantly, I have a background in being an executive assistant, a virtual assistant, a virtual assistant matchmaker (which most others in the field cannot boast), and an entrepreneur.
After reading this book, you will earn your time back while your business is propelled forward. Instead of worrying if you are hiring the right VA, you’ll be confident that you know what type of VA to hire, the market value of that particular VA, how to write the job description to attract the right VA, how to interview potential VAs, how a good VA should perform, how to determine if you are that VA’s ideal client, and which red flags you should be aware of every step of the way. I’ll give you the same road map I use with my own clients so you can negotiate the best deal and contract for you and the VA. I’ll also explain how to properly onboard your virtual assistant. If this is your second time reading my book, I promise you won’t regret it. You’ll walk away with even more than you did the first time!
As an added bonus, I created The PVA Interactive Hiring Workbook® which you can download to help you organize all of the instructions, best practices, notes, and information you need for every step of the way!

This is a must read for all small business owners. If you need more time to work ON your business instead of IN it, this step-by-step guide to hiring a VA will help you. Melissa Smith will walk you through why you need a VA, how to hire a VA, and how to successfully work with a VA to create more time and money for you.
I absolutely wish this book would have been available a few years ago! As small business owners, my husband and I were doing it all, and the business was devouring our lives. We ended up closing our business at a point when we possibly could have continued if we had a VA to take over some specific tasks for us. Author Melissa Smith asks a great question that would have been of benefit to us: Just because business owners CAN do it all, should they try to do it all? We self-taught or took classes in order to learn each and every task that needed done because we couldn't afford full time help, when for a fraction the cost of hiring a full time assistant we could have hired a Virtual Assistant. Hindsight is 20/20, but moving forward we will utilize the author's advice!
Work /Life Balance found in Delegation and Letting Go
Right from the opening page it is clear that author Melissa Smith has a clear idea of business needs and how best to manage time and delegate to maximise productivity. Her passion and expertise combine to offer us clear scope for reorganising our businesses. Hiring a Personal Virtual Assistant is demystified in this concise and detailed book. I recommend it for any business person who suffers from distraction and overwork.
This book by Melissa Smith is a very complete and informative work on what a virtual assistant is, how they can be a part of your business and how to hire them effectively. Her 70/30 rule hit home for me. I especially liked the chapter on how to interview a VA. The questions she suggests asking are a real eye opener. I also like her idea about hiring VA's within the U.S. This is so true!
I was blown away by how practical this book is! Melissa not only used her own experience as a VA but also her journey to help other people finding VA to demonstrate how to use VA to make her life amazing. She also teaches us how to do that in the book. The best practices she shared is more than just for VA. As an entrepreneur who is always battling with hiring and managing employee, I learned so much from what Melissa share about VA and can use them in my team management. Highly recommended!
By hire virtual assistants, you can delegate tasks, increase productivity, and free up valuable time to focus on more important responsibilities. A well-matched VA not only helps in managing daily operations but can also contribute to growing your business and boosting your income, providing long-term benefits.
This book serves as a great little black book on how to hire, work with & fire V.A.'s gracefully. If you've never worked with V.A's before read this book before you do and avoid many of the pitfalls and Utilise many of the pleasures.
I've read a ton of business books. It's difficult to find one that strikes the right balance between philosophy and practical application. This book nails it. I felt I understood, in principle the approach I should take to hiring a VA. I also felt like I had an excellent check list to tackle and execute the task of hiring a VA.
While the laser focus of this book is clearly around the why and how of hiring a VA, I felt you could apply all the same thinking to hiring an in-office employee. There are some excellent tips in here for being a good boss and correctly expanding your team, virtual or otherwise.
This is the instruction manual that online gurus neglect to give you en they tell me to hire a virtual assistant. I'm glad one of them decide to share how to find a good one. I hate wasting money, but after reading this book, I think I can hire one with confidence.
