***He’s the king on the court and will go full-court-press to get the girl.***
An enemies-to-lovers college sports romance.

As a college basketball player, I don’t chase girls – they come to me. I’m the star athlete everyone wants a piece of, with skills on the court and in the sheets.
I get what I want, when I want it.
I’m unstoppable.
Until I meet Ainsley Locker.
She doesn’t play games but plays hard to get, seemingly resistant to my charm.
That’s okay because I like a good challenge.
And my plan is to go full-court-press to win her over and make her mine.
As long as I don’t foul out in the process.

** Note: This book was previous titled "Sweetness". Same great story with a fresh new look.**

Even though this story is a longer one (in terms of kindle locations), I'm happy to say that it reads quickly. I don't have a ton of extra time these days to read so a book that can grab my attention and keep me flipping pages is definitely a bonus. There may have been a time or two where I found the story to drag, but it would then swiftly pick back up again. For the most part, reading Sweetness is smooth sailing.

I'm usually a fan of cliches, but only when used properly and with a light hand. I found too often during Sweetness, especially the farther the story went, that more and more cliches followed. It seemed to be a culmination of all those average New Adult sport books out these days. It was good, don't get me wrong, but had a lot of cliches and on the line of being too cheesy at times.

"With you, I can do anything. You’re the air I breathe."

Something that I was a little confused about has to deal with the shift in attraction between characters; it was so sudden. Cade was always interested in Ainsley - he chased her, it was obvious from the get go. But Ainsley, even though she thought Cade was cute, refused to put up with him. She didn't want him around, didn't have time for distractions, boys, or especially arrogant jocks, so she kept turning him down. Until at one point, she reluctantly goes to his party and is all of a sudden so interested in him, wants to be with him, can't get enough of him, etc. I just found this odd how it could go from one extreme to another so fast.

I really appreciated the roles of the secondary characters. Not only did they help add to the story line and give us a better understanding of each main character, but they were also loyal, respectful, and always wanted these two to succeed. They gave excellent advice, persuaded and got both Ainsley and Cade to where they needed to be so they could be in each other's lives.

"This isn’t how I planned on spending my only night off this week. But when you’re pressured by your best friend and a very large, loveable giant, you don’t have many other options."

The writing started off strong but as the book went on, it lapsed. Especially near the ending I found it to be closer to elementary and at times, juvenile. This was a disappointment since I enjoyed how it started and felt the author held promise.

Let's talk about story line and plot. For the most part, it made sense and I found it to be quite straight forward. Predictable, but straight forward. What I wasn't a huge fan of however was how whenever there was a hole in the storyline, the author would throw in drama or a mystery/clues about a secondary character. I get that this is to open up the possibilities for a series in the future, but I want to focus on the couple at hand, not try to figure out what might be happening with the others. Overall there were a few scenes and characters that ultimately didn't need to be included. They didn't add to the story, character, or relationship development and I couldn't figure out why they might be there. At the end, I had a few questions left unanswered about the main couple, so hopefully the author has plans to tie those up in additional novels. Why she didn't do it here, I'm not sure, but nevertheless, Sweetness did have a complete ending.

My final thoughts on Sweetness are this: yes it deals with responsibility and some heavier issues, but I found it to be on the lighter side. It's an easy and quick read. I didn't really connect with the characters but was still interested enough to see how their story played out. I'd love to read a following novel about Mica and Lance, so hopefully we'll get to see that at some point in the future! Sweetness, for me, is a solid 3 stars. At this time, and comparing it to what I've read recently, I just can't justify anything higher than that.

Oh my god this book was so exactly what I needed I can’t even begin to get my mind around it. First I need to explain that when I saw this book a month ago I thought it sounded sweet but I kind of forgot all about it. Then it rocked up on my kindle and I wasn't really in the mood for it but I figured I had better read it. Within minutes I was hooked.

So why wasn't I in the mood for it? First I need to tell you I am in a completely basketball dominated household despite being an avid AFL fan. And coming to the end of our season here I have been attending something basketball related 7 days a week for the last 5 months. So to say I am over basketball is a slight understatement.

Then I pick up this book and it's about college basketball. I seriously thought my head might explode. But then Ainsley. Sweet, beautiful, caring Ainsley. And Cade. Holy hell Cade. These are the types of books that make me love new adult novels. The ones that break off a little piece of my heart and wrap it up in their pages.

Ainsley has never had anything easy in her life. She has been the only thing she can count on her entire life and has never known anything but instability. She has worked her arse off for everything she has and to provide a safe environment for her sister. Then she bumps into Cade and damn was he a self centered, entitled, man whoreing arsehole.

Cade has just made the stupidest decision of his life and with it he is faced with losing everything he has worked towards. With his last year at college in jeopardy he is forced to accept responsibility for his mistakes and set about fixing them. Then he bumps into Ainsley and his focus shifts.

Destiny.
That one word has my tummy fluttering thinking back on how we connected. Not once. Not twice. But three times we ran into each other by happenstance.
Two impossibly opposite individuals with completely different upbringings and circumstances. Yet, we meshed. It’s like what Cade said TV sports announcers call a perfect shot.
“Nothing but net, baby.”

And I felt their connection to the depths of my soul. Cade made me feel not just the amazing amounts of chemistry these two had but also a really solid emotional connection despite their completely polar lifestyles and experiences. It wasn’t easy and there were bumps along the way but he never once doubted that they were meant to be together nor did he ever do anything to make me doubt his utter devotion to Ainsley.

I fell in love with them both and I had so many moments where I was holding my breath waiting to see what was going to happen next. I only put the book down long enough to wipe the tears from my eyes, not all of them sad.

Before I forget I should mention that while there were basketball references you don't need to be a basketball fan to follow the story and it wasn't sport heavy he just happens to be a player. There were a few references to plays and such but they wouldn't detract from the story if you didn't understand them.

This is the first book by Sierra Hill that I have read but I am now slightly obsessed. I am seriously dying to see how this series continues and who is going to get the next book and when I can get my hands on it. If you're a new adult fan you need to one click this right now and clear a few hours off your schedule to sit down and meet Cade and Ains.

I really liked this story, the college experience, the drama, the law-breaking and all the handsome basketball players there was very little to not like it.

Ainsley and Cade are two college students but their similarities stop at that, they can't be more different the first is serious, works two jobs and takes care of her sister, the latter is a playful athlete. They met by chance more than once,Ainsley doesn't like Cade at the first sight, he on the contrary tries to woo her straight away.
Will she find the time to enjoy her age??Wil he win her heart?? I recommend to read this sweet novel to find out.

This was the first time I've read Sierra Hill's work and fortunately I'm ready to dive into the second book in this series right now.

Ainsley has had it tough in life and she has worked hard. Meaning she won't make it easy for the college superstar, Cade, who is desperate to win her affections. He's had it easy and all the women flock to him but Ainsley isn't like other girls and Kincaid is up for the challenge. But will one mistake lead to the end of Kincaid's easy life and make him lose his chance of ever winning Ainsley's heart?

"If I ever saw Kincaid again, I think I might be tempted to smack him in his face for being a whiny little bitch. Or run straight into his arms."

I LOVED Ainsley's character straight from the start. She works hard for everything she has ever got and she looks after her family, even while being so young herself still. I love that she still has goals for herself and won't let her upbringing stop her for being who she wants to be. She really is the definition of a strong, reliant and dependable to those she loves and looks after.

“You like what you see?”
“Do you even need to ask? You’re kind of perfection.”

Cade is whole other story!! You could say he was basically the opposite to begin with. Cocky, entitled, thinking everything and everyone should just come to him with ease. But as the story progresses you see his patient and caring side. I feel like he grows and learns as he starts to realise how much Ainsley means to him and he finally works hard for something that is important to him.

"I had to wear her down before she’d finally agree to see me. And second, there’s more to her than just a sexy body. I know she’s smart. Kind. Generous. And she works hard to get what she’s after."

A really beautiful, exciting and just great feel good romance read! This really was an opposites attract story and in the end I truly loved that these two got together and were made for each other. We have Ainsley's hard family life that brings drama, sadness and some grit to the story and Cade's mess up which leaves his future looking not so certain after all. And the feisty, steamy, hot, and not always easy, relationship between Ainsley and Cade kept me completely enthralled and by the end I was crossing my fingers and toes hoping they would end up together! Altogether, an enjoyable, fun read of a college romance.

"Instead of returning the love, I’ve pushed him away, unaccepting of the love he’s so freely given."

Y'all know I'm all about Sports Romances and I really enjoy college centered ones, so the whole Courting Love series is right up my alley! I actually haven't read a lot of basketball romances (though I've read a few) and I enjoyed Ainsley and Cade's story. I love a book that has a male lead that is dogged (in a good way) in his pursuit of the female lead and we definitely get that with Cade. I even liked the way that Ainsley gave him the brush off for so long - though when she finally succumbed to his charms it seemed a bit abrupt. Overall, the book read quickly and I had a good time meeting Ainsley and Cade and their friends and I'm stoked to continue with the series. 3 out of 5 wine glasses.

Sweetness by Sierra Hill
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Clapping my hands!! I am loving these characters and different sports themes series. I haven’t read many, if any, sports theme characters so this book was awesome for me. I feel like I read more Shifter paranormal or MC books. SO this was a great and nice departure for me to read.
Ainsley is a girl without any help in life. You wanna talk about given a crappy life but still made something out of herself and still striving for more and better!!! She is taking on 2 jobs, raising her teen age sister and trying to finish nursing school. Meeting a boy or even dating are far off her list of things to do. When she meets a cocky guy at one her many jobs, she is overly annoyed with is sexual come-ons and rich boy persona.
Cade has lived the life of privilege. He has money and since he is a star athlete he gets a lot of attention for being him. He can have any girl and they sure don’t ever turn him down…I mean he is CADE!!! When he gets into trouble and is getting talked to by his parents, he is stunned the waitress isn’t all over him. Doesn’t she know he is number 23. I gotta admit. I thought Cade was a mega DB and was high fiving Ainsley for rebuffing him.
As the story continues, Cade runs into Ainsley again. This time he SEES her for what she is…different and he is really intrigued in what makes him want to get to know her. The couple being navigating around dating while dealing with skeletons they both have in their closet. Cade’s secret send his girl off the deep end. I was kinda annoyed with her for her over reaction and then she over reacts again in the end of the book. Yes I get what she has been thought and was glad Mica was there to kick her butt into gear. Cade most definitely does redeem himself from my original beginning thoughts about hm. Sierra definitely let us, the reader, see his growth in the book.
I am super excited to read Mica and Lance. That books is going to be a good one I can already tell!!!

Ainsley Locker hasn't an easy life growing up. With a mother diagnosed with a mental illness and won't stay on her meds, they moved around a lot. Now she has gotten her CNA license, but is continuing on with her education, in order to become a nurse. She works two jobs in order to pay for school, and take care of her younger sister, so she has no time for men, especially hot, arrogant jocks. Kincaid Griffin has the perfect life. As a college athlete, he doesn't have to chase girls, as they are always throwing themselves at his feet. This all changes when he meets the guarded, and standoffish Ainsley, and she intrigues him. Cade decides he has to have her, but she isn't biting. He finally wears her down, and she gives him a chance, but he has kept a big secret from her. Just when they are happiest, his secret is revealed, and going viral for the whole world to see. Will he get Ainsley to ever forgive him?

I loved this story so much, that I read it in one sitting. The character development is great, with a colorful cast of secondaries. A fast paced, sweet, and well written storyline flows smoothly. Ainsley and Cade has flammable chemistry, exploding into SMOKIN' HOT sexy scene goodness. Sierra Hill's easy writing style hooked me from the beginning, while holding me hostage until the end. She added a twist that had me jacked up, as it didn't resolve itself yet. I'm super excited to read more of her work in the future, so I'm HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Sweetness!

I am a complete sucker for reformed bad boys. The worse they are in the beginning, the better. And Cade Griffin is just that! While this book deals with some heavier underlying issues, it was all the swoon-worthy moments that really pulled me in and made this an enjoyable and entertaining new adult romance!

I stand up and slowly walk toward her until I’m standing right behind her. And I can’t help myself. Maybe it’s the booze or maybe just my natural flirtatious behavior, but I lean down so my lips are right at her ear and whisper, “I’m really good.”

The chemistry between Cade and Ainsley is so much fun to follow. I found myself waiting for what cocky thing Cade would say next and how Ainsley would react. But even without Cade, Ainsley had her own sassy and adorable personality. One that made me pull for her.

There’s a row of girls behind us that have been chit-chatting all night, giggling as college girls do. More than once, I heard Griff’s name come up in their conversation. Talking about how hot he is. And how they heard he’s an animal in bed. It took everything I had to restrain myself from turning behind me and telling them, “You ain’t lying, sista."

This is Sierra Hill's first new adult novel (she has written contemporary in the past), and I found it to be just as entertaining as her other novels. I look forward to her next book in the series!

Sweet Romance with lots of chemistry and totally hot sexy scenes. Will keep you hooked till the end.

New adult romance
Opposites attract (I don’t think it’s enemies to lovers at all)
Opposite sides of the track
Childhood trauma and parental addiction

If you can stand the MMC being cocky, arrogant and full of himself and the FMC who is immediately smitten and tries to make out like she isn’t, then this might be for you. An attempted redemption arc that I’m not 100% sold on.

Sweetness was a great 4 star read.

Ainsley is tired of moving around with her mom and is hoping that they can finally stay in one spot. She’s currently in college, working at a restaurant and is a homecare nurse. She is also playing mom to her 15 year old sister.

Kincaid (Cade) is a basketball player who gets any woman he wants. He finds himself in a very bad predicament that could cause him his basketball career. While having breakfast with his parents he sees Ainsley and it is an instant connection.

That girl will be all over me the next time I see her.
Fate steps in and Cade ends up seeing Ainsley again. He is very persistent and finally gets Ainsley to go out with him. He was super sweet and attentive to her. She is very different from the girls he’s used to. She doesn’t know anything about basketball and wants to know the real Cade.
We learn a little bit more of Ainsley’s history and start to understand her better.

The idea that I could make this strong, confident woman cry guts me. Slays me like an effing knife. Right in the heart.

I really enjoyed Sweetness. You watch these two work through past experiences and move forward. It definitely isn’t an easy road but worth it in the end. Cade was such a sweetheart and glad that he found someone real to be with. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. My favorite was Cades grandpa. If you're looking for a great romance you will want to 1-click and get started today.

This book was named perfectly. It was full of sweetness. The characters were perfectly matched and had you wanting nothing but the best for them. Ainsley is a busy bee. All she did was work, do homework and take care of her sister. There was no time for anything extra especially of the male persuasion. Cade was your typical jock full of himself and thinking he could get anyone he wanted. What they went expecting was to find each other when things were at there worse.
I liked this story it was fun and cute. Cade and Ainsley were perfect for each other. At moments I felt she was too good to be true. I also didn’t believe cade could change so fast. But it all worked out for the best.
I know most books need drama but this one didn’t it felt out of place. The peak of the book where she finds out the big secret felt lame and unnecessary. I know she has to find out but when she did it was like ok overreacting much. Yes he didn’t tell you and you felt betrayed but that is what forgiveness is for. I think the whole time she just needed an out and he gave her one. Then she leaves again wth. Cade was a punk because he didn’t do anything about it. I would’ve gone after her. I would’ve begged but I would’ve made her see reason.
Overall the book was really sweet and I just enjoyed the easiness of it all. It’s a great read for anyone not looking for complicated.

I tried, I tried so hard, but I just couldn’t continue. I found Cade so insufferably and annoying and so very immature that I just couldn’t bare reading in his POV. I liked Ainsley, I did, but I just couldn’t with Cade, I was sick of him within the first 3 chapters.

The other books sound interesting in the series, if they were on KU, I’d probably try to finish this book, but they’re not so I just don’t wanna waste anymore of my time.

Sweetness is the first book in The Sweetest Thing series, by Sierra Hill. It is a N.A, college sport, reformed bad boy, and all-round, delightful read.
Ainsley Locker is studying Nursing, while also juggling two jobs to be able to pay the bills and support her sister. Ainsley and her much younger sister haven’t had it easy in life- their mother’s mental health issues and having a father who doesn’t care, has resulted in a lot of instability in their lives. Moving frequently and never having anyone to rely on, Ainsley had to grow up pretty quickly and take on responsibilities that most people her age wouldn’t have to worry about.
She has worked very hard for everything she has and takes her responsibilities very seriously. Boys are a distraction that she doesn’t want or need in her life, she has aspirations and long term goals that she is working towards, and won’t allow anything to interfere with that.
So when a cocky, self-centred, ladies’ man keeps turning up in her life and making a play for her- Ainsley won’t have it, and wants nothing to do with him.
Kincaid Griffin (Cade) is a star player on the college basketball team who’s used to getting a lot of attention (especially from the ladies), getting his own way and pretty much whatever or whoever he wants. His life consists of endless parties, girls, fans and basketball.
When he lays eyes on the beautiful, confident, focused and sassy, Ainsley- he is immediately intrigued and decides that he has to have her. She challenges him and he just loves a challenge. He pursues her at every opportunity, breaking down her barriers and wearing her down, until she finally agrees to go out with him.
Things progress quickly from here, to where they are really comfortable and happy together- when his ‘secret’ is revealed, and the news goes viral in the process. Not only does this jeopardise his position on the team and any future career, but also his relationship with Ainsley.
How will Ainsley react to the news, especially taking her past into consideration? What will Cade do, as he has come to realise just how much she means to him and doesn’t want to be without her. Can Ainsley understand and overlook the biggest mistake he’s ever made, and forgive him?
I haven’t read and wouldn’t normally choose to read, a college or sports romance, but after I read the blurb- I decided to try it and see if I like to genre. I do!
The book is a lovely, light hearted read- that flows well and was easy to follow. I read it in a day.
The story really is sweet, full of humour, sizzling chemistry and enough surprises to keep me interested.
Cade and Ainsley showed a lot of depth to their personalities and character growth throughout the story. The secondary characters were also likeable and well developed.
The basketball references were not over-the-top or difficult to understand, basketball is more in the background, as Chase is on the team. You don’t need to have an interest in, or follow basketball to like this book.
The author also considers a few sensitive topics in the book- she does this thoughtfully and compassionately.
The book ends with a H.E.A and I enjoyed this story so much, that I will definitely be reading the next book!

College sports star vs good girl with a little bit of attitude. Cade is probably the stereotype entitled sports hero. Arrogant, conceited and a little annoying to those nor enraptured. He is not mean or intentionally hurtful. He is spoiled by his monied upbringing and basket success. He is a little immature and makes some questionable choices. He is very intelligent. His degree/ major is not easy. He thoughts of what he wants to do with his degree gives you an insight to his possibilities. Ainsley is opposite. She works two jobs, takes care of her family, and goes to school. She has no time for play. When she first meets Cade, she is not impressed. He is intrigued. On paper they are not a match but really they need each other and make each other better. Good start to what can be an interesting series with intriguing characters.

I love a good college-age romance. Add in some real life crap sandwich experiences, normal young adult angst and a sports flavor and I'm all in!

Ainsley and Cade are a pretty standard opposites attract couple, and he's working pretty hard in the beginning to be really unlikeable! But he's a genuine nice guy, sweet, handsome and has a tendency to grow on a girl. Ainsley is dealing with a lot in her life, and their experience levels are a great counterbalance to one another. The twists and turns were pretty unexpected, and I felt like the way these characters interacted and dealt with things was realistic. A sweet, fast-paced read with some great young love romance!

I've found this author gives a little more than many of the other sports romance writers. I found this story to remind us that we all have struggles. How we face them is important. We learn about mental illness, homelessness, college basketball, and elder care. It felt real.

Cade was a real douche in the beginning. I couldn't believe him. He came along way in his growth by loving Ainsley. Good read.

Provided by author for honest review. This is my very first book by sierra, and it was truly a delight. I liked Cade instantly as well as Ainsley. I love how Cade never gave up the chase. From going to a one and done kind of man. To constantly perusing a girl was quite amazing to see. Not all jocks are alike. To for example van. He seems like he is the perfect guy. Longtime girlfriend that's amazing to witness. As for Cade men can change when they want to. And Cade has. Proven that.

. She’s working hard to improve her life, moving on from a bad past and working with senior citizens. She’s got no time for Cade, who’s nothing but trouble.

Cade makes spectacularly bad decisions. Like college career ending poor choices. In his car with a random girl.

He’s into Ainsley. Can he man up?

Basketball is for lovers.

This first book in Sierra Hill’s The Sweetest Thing series is a lovely story about Cade, a college basketball star who got in a little trouble with the law when he met Ainsley,a girl that works hard for everything she has and is fighting to make sure her sister has everything she needs. A lovely story about a couple fighting against the odds to find each other.

Thanks to the author for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review!

I had a hard time getting into this book and I think it has to do with Cade. He started out arrogant and just awful. I was like ew I hope he doesn't end up with Ainsley, she already as a hard life.

Ainsley deals with a lot in her daily life the addition of a boy that may not be worth it would mess things up. She has a bi-polar addict mother and a little sister she's always there for. She works two jobs and goes to school. Cade is a complication but she can't help but want to be with him. He's charming and relentless. In the end she decides to take this one thing for herself. She even starts feeling like her life might be becoming the life of a normal college student.

Cade has made some mistakes recently. Stupid mistakes but he's ready to move forward and have a great senior year. He sees Ainsley and he's instantly attracted to her but she won't give him the time of day. He's utterly shocked by this, everyone likes him. Girls flock to him but its not the way Ainsley acts. She's older than her years and he wants to be in her orbit. He finally wears her down and is happy to be one of those guys, that's in a relationship and takes heart in the way they interact. She pushes him away quite often but he's able to get her to come back to him.

Like I said I did NOT like Cade at first, he was arrogant and a prick. Slowly he started to change and grow. Everyone has to at some point or other. Life makes you, people change you and that's what happened with Cade. Mistakes changed him and made him into a better man. His relationship with Ainsley made him better. Ainsley was messed up, even after the relationship with Cade started. She watched her mother go through ups and downs, men and moves. She was trying to get a career so that her life wasn't as messed up as her mothers. She didn't trust easily and wasn't planning on trusting anyone ever. Cade broke down her walls but it took a TON of time. In the end I enjoyed this book, I loved the side characters and hope to see them in future books. Check this author's work out its good!! Also leave her a review, it shows your support and that you care!
