This review was originally posted on my review blog Deanna Reads Books

Tracy Goodwin is a new to me author, but I definitely think I'm going to go back and read her other novels. Especially the first book in this series Ice Hot. I didn't read that one going into this one, but I didn't feel like I needed to. The couple in the first book appear in this one, but this book is more about Cami and Nick's romance. Which is what I love about romance series! You don't have to read them in order.

I LOVE hockey romances, so of course I jumped to read this book! I liked that the previous playboy hockey player is ready to really find someone and the way Nick tries to woo Cami was so cute! It was clear she had some issues and I definitely understood why she didn't want to get involved with him. At the same time, I think she really went into herself too much and it allowed her family to walk all over her. Her sister was the worst honestly.

The sexy times between these two were good, but if that isn't your thing, maybe skip over this book. I did really like the relationship between these two, but I did find Cami a little frustrating. Because of things about herself (not giving spoilers here) she is so convinced that Nick is just going to leave her like her ex-husband did. But Nick is so much better and kinder than that jerk, and it bummed me out a bit because she hurt him so much.

I had a fun time reading this book, and I heard there is going to be a third book so I'm really excited to read that one, and to go back to read about Nick's best friend in the first book. If you like hockey romances, I would definitely recommend this one.

REVIEW: ICE HARD is the second instalment in Tracy Goodwin’s contemporary, adult NEW YORK NIGHTHAWKS erotic, hockey romance series focusing on the professional hockey team the New York Nighthawks. This is professional hockey player Nick ‘the Dominator’ George, and bartender/bookkeeper Camille ‘Cami’ Benetti’s story line. ICE HARD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cami and Nick) ICE HARD follows the building relationship between professional hockey player Nick George, and bartender/bookkeeper Camille ‘Cami’ Benetti. Cami Benetti doesn’t do relationships, especially relationship involving professional hockey players but meeting Nick George at his best friend’s bachelor party gave Cami thoughts about second chances. Having learned her lesson in the past, Cami struggled with the potential for infidelity on the road but Nick George was nothing like Cami expected. Nick George is the perfect man for our story line heroine although Cami battles between head and heart believing heart break is waiting for the opportune time. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Cami and Nick, and the potential fall-out as Cami struggles with family betrayal, and heart break from the past.

Cami Benetti has one goal in mind-owning and operating the family run Italian restaurant but having spent her entire life proving herself worthy, Cami knows it is only a matter of time before she finds herself on the outside looking in. Past betrayal has left Cami broken and hardened to the idea of never finding love, but finding Nick George means the possibility of second chances. Nick George wants what his best friend and fellow hockey player has-his own happily ever after, and Nick believes he has found it in our heroine Cami Benetti but convincing Cami she is worthy will take more than simple wooing and love.

The relationship between Cami and Nick is one of immediate attraction but Cami refuses to give into Nick’s attempts to flirt and seduce. Only promising one night together, with no strings, Cami will soon discover Nick is the real deal. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Nick’s fellow teammates: Christian Chase and his fiancé Serena (Ice Hot #1) ; teammates Theo ‘Thor’ Ture, Damon ‘the Demon’ DeLaurentis, Ryan ‘Lucky’ McGee, and Alexi ‘The Vamp’ Vladislav; Cami’s best friend and cousin Sally Benetti, and Cami’s siblings including Mike (and Kayla), Matty, Beth (and Scott), and Ben, as well as their father Tony Benetti.

ICE HARD is a story of family, friendship, past betrayals, and moving forward. The fast paced premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are numerous, energetic and flirty although the Benetti clan leaves something to be desired; the romance is seductive and intense. ICE HARD is a welcome and wonderful addition to the author’s New York Nighthawks hockey romance series.

Ice Hard was a fun romance with a satisfying HEA. Nick is a swoony hockey player who has two personas. He has his "hockey persona" as the alpha male dominating player on the ice who takes no crap. Then he also has the sensitive side that opens himself up to Cami I search of the connection and relationship that his best friend has found with his wife. Cami has been through a bad relationship with her ex-husband who unfortunately was also a hockey player but not a loyal one. Nick has to prove himself to Cami and be sure she knows he is NOTHING like her ex.

To make things even more complicated, Cami is dealing with drama within her family. This may push her into leaving town in search of other job opportunities and a fresh start. The only thing holding her back is her fledgling relationship with Nick but she's unsure of where it's really heading.

I loved this book. Nick really was a great character. Who doesn't love an alpha male who can still be caring and loving?! He was the ultimate! I look forward to reading more by Tracy Goodwin!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Ice Hard (New York Nighthawks #2) by: Tracy Goodwin

Goodwin has me rethinking my stand on sports romance. Ice Hard takes the drama off the ice and into the real world. Cami and Nick have quite a bit to learn when it comes to matters of the heart. The player is about to get played and with a little help from fate, maybe find his perfect match. Ice Hard is a tidal wave of emotion. From the humorous dialogue to the heated tension and the battle weary drama, Ice Hard proves itself to be a triple threat. Author, characters and story score gold in the heart of this romantic.

Ice Hard. Book two in the Nighthawks series.
I really liked the first book, this one I struggled with a bit.
It was a good romance story. Boy meets girl, girl wants nothing to do with boy, boy wins her over, they live happily ever after. Do you see what I left out in that description? The hockey. That’s what I missed in this book. We’re told he’s a hockey player, there are lots of references to hockey type things (practices, travel, playoffs, the cup), but very little actual “ice time”. Disappointing.
I did love Nick and Cami. Theirs was an insta love romance.
Cami has had her heart broken in the past by a hockey player. So Nick is the last person she ever thought she would agree to a date with. But the more time she spends with Nick, the more she learns that some of them would rather watch documentaries and listen to Neil Diamond than party, drink and pick up puck bunnies. Some are actually good, decent guys.
Nick has watched his best friend, find a girl, fall in love and begin a family. And now he wants that for himself. The last thing he expects is to find it in a feisty bartender that dresses and dances like Britney Spears. But he quickly learns that there is so much more to her than her first impression. And he’s got a lot of work ahead of him if he wants his happily ever after.
Overall I liked Nick and Cami’s story. But by the time I finished I felt like large chunks of the story were missing. I wanted answers about her family and the issues that needed resolving, same with the restaurant. We went from the team celebrating the Cup, to the epilogue that obviously takes place sometime in the future. There is a lot that was skipped over to get there. I wanted the rest of the story.
I do like this author’s writing style. I love her characters. The story does have a happy ending. A few bumps along the way, but they do get there. There is no cheating. Lots of sexy times.
Looking forward to Thor’s story.

I am a huge fan of sports romance, so I feel I should start by prefacing that I read a lot of books in that sub-genre and I'm pretty hard to please. I found Ice Hard enjoyable. The story was well developed and flowed nicely. The characters were funny, charming, and fun. My only hang up was that there were times the book became almost repetitive for me. It just didn't hold my attention or stand out particularly. I literally stopped reading it several times to read other books and then would go back to this one - hence it taking me almost 2 months to read.

I feel like there were a few missed opportunities to really make the story pop. For example: Cami has an issue that she feels could cause Nick to not want a forever with her. This is discussed in the book and even mentioned a few times but I never really felt the emotion behind it. It just felt like I was reading the words. Also there was an ex involved that was a total douchebag. He could've been a huge factor in the story. Instead he was an issue on the ice but the tension he could've added to the story was glossed over. Even the part where I'm assuming he got what he deserved was just meh.

Cami and Nick were sweet together and just seemed perfect from the start. I really enjoyed her sass and personality. I can't say enough about Nick. I loved his brains and brawn. He just seemed to know exactly what to say and do. Some of the supporting characters were awesome and I can't wait to read more about them. Others, such as a couple of Cami's siblings, were jerks and I felt like they were given a pass on being a jerk. Even Cami's sister's apology was halfhearted at best.

Bottom Line: it's okay. I enjoyed it but wish the author would've spiced it up a little.

I get tunnel vision when I see "Hockey Romance" in a book blurb and sometimes I'm left underwhelmed. Ice Hard hooked me with the opening chapters, but let me down quickly.

Nick and Cami's story had a lot of promise but there was just too much descriptive dialogue of nonessential elements and characters that left so little room for dialogue between Nick and Cami that would have helped build their story: connection, emotions, feelings . . . There was a relationship that I had no emotional connection to because it was never formed with words on the pages - I felt like significant parts of the story were left out.

I don't know if I'll continue with the New York Nighthawks series, which is disappointing because I really like the characters (the potential for a Thor story is one I'd like the read) and the essence of the stories but they just don't contain the dialogue, sense of time, and essential engaging elements that emotionally connect me to the characters.

M/F Romance
Triggers: Infertility
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Nick is loving his life. But, now that he has friends that have started to find their forever person, Nick knows that he wants that too. He's down to earth, charming, a beast on the ice and a fierce friend. When Nick runs in to Camille at a bar where his friend is having his bachelor party, he knows that he wants to get to know her better. She intrigues him.

Cami is a fierce woman who always puts her family first. With her sister having marital issues, he dad still grieving the loss of his wife and her brother needing someone to lean on at times, Cami has to be a jack of all trades for everyone but herself.

Nick's attempts at wooing Cami were fantastic. I loved their playful banter and how supportive they were of each other. It was sometimes inferred that their relationship had progressed, because you didn't really see it in the story. However, it worked for this story.

Cami's family were hard to take at times. I wanted to yell at them on more than one occasion. It frustrated me that Cami was so strong for them, but when they hurt her, she didn't really stand up for herself.

Overall, this was a great second book in the series. I really enjoy all of the characters and can't wait to read more.

Ice Hard is the second book in the New York Nighthawks series by Tracy Goodwin. The main characters of the first book appear quite often in this one, but each book is a stand-alone and features a different couple.

The main characters are Nick a hockey player and Cami who does not date hockey players because her ex-husband is one and ended up cheating on her. There is more to Cami's past, but I am gonna leave you to find out about it by yourselves.

My overall experience with the book was neither hot or cold. I liked some parts, while others not so much. Nick's teammates were fun to have around. Nick himself was a good man who cared about everyone and went for what he wanted.

What I disliked the most in this book was Cami. I couldn't understand her character. I also couldn't understand why she seemed to think that her father was not approving of her when in reality things were way different. He didn't seem like a man who didn't care. Cami for the whole book was the one who kept insisting that her relationship with Nick would end sooner rather than later and she was the one who was always pushing away. It was annoying and she should have been the one doing the groveling.

Overall, the book had some good and some bad moments, so I will remain neutral on the recommendation.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Nick is part of the Nighthawks hockey team and best friend to Chris who is about to marry the girl of his dreams. As Nick watches his friend fall deeper in love, Nick is wondering if he will find his HEA. So he decides to take matters into his own hands by joining a dating site without telling his buddy.
The night of Chris' bachelor party, Nick meets Cami and he begins to see and feel that there might be something more between them. The attraction between them is off the charts. He tries to ask her out but she shuts him down.
Cami doesn't date hockey players. Been there don't that, got divorced. She is attracted to Nick but there can only be one night with him. But she knows that Nick can be bad for her heart. She feels the way she reacts to his touch and the heat between them is so hot.
Will Nick be able to talk Cami into a date? Can Cami let her guard down and spend time with Nick? Will they have a chance at a future together?
I really like this series so far and can't wait to see which team member will be next. And you have to read this series because some of the pranks a few members play are so funny and "Lucky" will have you laughing out loud. I recommend this one and you have to read the first to follow along but it is not necessary if you don't want to.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Nick meets Cami at this best friend's bachelor party and they hit it off. But Cami does not date hockey players. Nick does well to get around Cami's defences but Cami's issues put some big hurdles in their past and the whole time they are flirting and dating you feel like it is only a matter of time before she bolts.

Nick and Cami were a fun couple and with good chemistry but I found after their initial date that my interest start to wane a bit. Too much time is spent inside the characters' heads contemplating how they felt and quickly became repetitive. I briefly contemplated giving up reading but I liked the characters and I wanted to see their story play out. Two thirds of the way in the story really picked up and I loved the last third. It was engaging and full of drama and I zoomed through it. I think my favorite thing about this story is the message of the importance of family and that family about more than blood.

As a sport fan I enjoyed Ice Hard because it was about more than sports. Hockey players that lives outside of sport and it was great to see Nick enjoying his life off the ice as well as on. This gets a sold 3 stars from me.

I really really really enjoyed this book! I am a sucker for a hockey romance with a GOOD guy. And please don't doubt - Nick is one of the good ones. Cami comments on it all the time - and she is right - there are not a lot of guys like Nick. He keeps his domination on the ice and treats Cami as an equal partner from the first moment he sees her. I loved the fact that he showed his respect and support for her as an individual throughout the book. He said he was interested in her - and really help up his stance with hard evidence. He didn't try to fight Cami's battles for her, but supported her through them all.

As an aside, this book deals with Cami's struggle to accept her own infertility. The issues she faces - from her family and herself are very real and very emotional. .

Reading this story gave me all the feels - in the best way. I will say, however, that a lot of the relationship development happened off-page, maybe to make room for more sexy-times. This worked for me in this book - but I might have been ok with less sexy-time and more talking between the characters.

This was my first book my Tracy Goodwin - but it won't be my last!

Disclaimer - I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley at no cost to me - but all opinions expressed here are my own!

Hockey Romances are my jam!
I was excited to read the second book In The New York Nighthawk series between Nick and his unlikely love connection Cami!
Their story is a bit of a conundrum when one pushes the other pulls. Still, their intense connection keeps them coming back for more, with of course a smack-talking, ready to fight speedbump, along with some insecurities and stubbornness to overcome.
If Nick is about to find Cami heart is more of a challenge to obtain than any Hockey Goal- is he willing to put in the work to win her over?
Sweet, sexy, absolutely frustrating, an enduring sports romance with humor, light drama, and grit!
Great characters, with authentic connections and relatability, a fun, fast, straightforward flow story that kept me entertained throughout the pages. I cannot wait for more from Tracy Goodwin and The NewYork Nighthawks!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second book in the series, and I would recommend that you read them in order, as Chris and Serena's story is great, and as we get to see them marry and feature a lot in this book, it would give you a background to the team too.

In many ways this book deserves 4*s but for me it just missed the mark by setting up the drama so completely that I knew it was coming, and didn't really then ring quite true. I really liked both Nick and Camille, and how they were together, so forcing them apart seemed to be a mistake. I also found Nick and her father's bonding to seemingly a bit strangely timed. These disconnects did not stop me reading as I was keen to know that all worked out, but they did pull me out of the flow of the story.

If you enjoy hockey romances, then this will definitely appeal, and it is great to see Chris and Serena as well as the rest of the crazy team again - Thor and Lucky have to get lucky sometime soon!

This is the first book that I have read from this author and it was a good read. This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. I love a good sports romance. Nick and Cami were a great couple. The storyline was a bit predictable in parts but there were parts that they dealt with real issues that they needed to overcome to be able to move forward in their relationship. I loved the epilogue and being able to catch a glimpse of their future.

Tracy Goodwin has a clutch performance with Ice Hard (New York Nighthawks, #2). This is Nick George’s and Camille Benetti’s story. Nick is the best friend and teammate of Christian Chase (New York Nighthawks #1). The book starts out at Christian's bachelor party. Nick is Christian’s best man. After watching Christian and Serena, Nick realizes he wants a meaningful relationship; then he meets Camille. The two hit it off, but Camille wants nothing to do with a hockey player. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.

Ice Hard is a heartwarming story. Nick wants someone whom he can be himself around. Camille had things happen in her past that hurt her confidence. The two have great chemistry and a lot in common. I enjoyed their sarcastic personalities and love of music. They have emotional obstacles to overcome. I like how the characters grew throughout the story.

Ice Hard is well-written and easy to read. It is a great addition to the New York Nighthawks series. It has a good plot, interesting twists, family drama, and entertaining hockey scenes with Cami’s ex. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Nick is a hockey player and he has it all. He has fame, charm and good looks but he can't get past one night stands and he would like a relationship. He meets Camille and all that changes for him. He can't get Camille to take him seriously since she has a no date rule for sports players. Can Nick get a chance with Camille? Will Camille break her rule for the right guy? A great sports romance.

This started out as a cute book but took a drastic turn the last half and quickly lost its luster by Cami’s woe-is-me-record-on-repeat, “I’m not good enough for you.” You’re right, you’re not and Nick deserves someone better…like me. 😂
It got too cheesy, so I will end the series, with this one, and keep the first book as my favorite

I love reading about hockey and the family they make with their teams. This book is about Nick, the hockey plaer and Cami the restaurant owner. Nick is not your typical hockey player. He is a nerd. Cami comes from a big Italian family that is almost too much to bear. Cami is also from a broken marriage with a hockey player.

Can these two find love? Read this book to find out!

Nick and Cami made a wonderful couple. Every moment they were together made me smile. Nick was such a gentleman. Most times when you read about Hockey players in romance novels, they usually are just looking for a good time, a quick one and done. But Nick wasn't like that. He may have been in the past but for a while he'd been seriously thinking about a "forever" girl. Someone who could be his other half. The half that completes him. His best friend found the girl of his dreams and Nick wasn't only happy for him, but he was envious. Nick wanted love. He wanted his own dream girl.

Cami is cautious. She is a strong, independent, sassy heroine. And she doesn't date hockey players. Cami has a good reason for that as you will learn. But she is on Nick's radar and he is persistent. But Cami is just as willful. I enjoyed the banter between Nick and Cami. I enjoyed watching them navigate an eventual relationship. I believed their love. They realistically worked for their happily-ever-after.

Another aspect I enjoyed about this book were all the "feels." The emotional elements were poignant and believable. I admit, I was sad about a few things but the author did a wonderful job, all around, with writing an enjoyable book. This is the second book in this series and I look forward to reading more.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

This was my first Tracy Goodwin book and I'd have to say it was just ok for me. I enjoyed getting to know Nick and Camille, the Nighthawks, and parts of Camille's family. The story had some really promising moments and characters that I genuinely was rooting for, I just found it too formulaic for me and didn't really connect with the believe-ability of several of the plot points.

Nick was very relatable, likeable, and someone you wanted to cheer for on and off the rink. Camille was harder for me. She is likeable, snarky, sweethearted, and very giving towards her family, however she was also a little flat as a person and too stuck in her own head. I won't be reading anymore of the series but I did appreciate the opportunity to read it. I am curious to know what happens with Lucky...

I received an Arc from Netgalley for an honest rating. I was excited to read this story because I love a good hockey romance. But unfortunately, this one fell a little short for me. I feel like it was the actual writing, rather than the storyline. There were too many instances where the writing was on the nose and I was being told rather than painted a story that showed what was happening. When this happens, it's hard for me to engage with the book.

Nick is the bad boy of his team, the New York Nighthawks. And Cami is a woman he meets when she's filling in as a bartender for her brother, though she runs their family restaurant. She also has a history with professional hockey players and vows she'll never date another.

On the surface this story and the main characters have a lot of good ingredients. I like the idea of these two coming together. However, another piece that made it difficult for me to stay engaged is that I often felt Nick sounded a lot like a female.

It seems this book has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, this one didn't really grab me and keep me interested. I found myself skimming through half the book because I was not as invested in the story.

Cami has worked for her family’s Italian restaurant since she was a teenager however even though her father is selling it, he won’t let her purchase it. She is selfless when it comes to her family, to her own detriment, and doesn’t believe that love and a relationship is in her future. She isn’t interested in the attention that Nick is giving her as she is aware of the temptations that a hockey player faces, and she has the scars to prove it.

Nick is a professional hockey player who determination on the ice has led to a successful career and he is just as determined off the ice. From the moment that he sees Cami he is drawn to her and now all he has to do is convince her that this hockey player is ready for love and marriage with her.

There is no denying the chemistry between them, but it is how Nick supports her when it comes to chasing her dreams that will melt your heart. The secondary characters add another level to the story, and it was great to catch up with Christian and Serena once again.

This book is super cute. If that is what you're looking for in your romance, this is a book for you. Nick is super goofy and in touch with his sensitive side... like a lot. Cami is strong willed and hurt, which just leads to the rabbit hole of never ending awkwardness in some of their interactions.

I enjoyed this read. It is written well and offers all of the major check points when it comes to a romance read. It wasn't for me personally, but again- if cute is your style, read it.

Sadly, this one did not work for me. It had everything I wanted....it just did not deliver. It was almost too easy, if that makes sense. In addition, I was not super invested in the characters. The writing was not bad, it just did not feel believable to me. I'm ending with 2 1/2 stars.

M/F Romance
Triggers: Infertility

Nick is loving his life. But now that he has friends that have started to find their forever person, Nick knows that he wants that too. He's down to earth, charming, a beast on the ice, and a fierce friend. When Nick runs into Camille at a bar where his friend is having his bachelor party, he knows that he wants to get to know her better. She intrigues him.

Cami is a fierce woman who always puts her family first. With her sister having marital issues, he dad still grieving the loss of his wife, and her brother needing someone to lean on at times, Cami has to be a jack of all trades for everyone but herself.

Nick's attempts at wooing Cami were fantastic. I loved their playful banter and how supportive they were of each other. It was sometimes inferred that their relationship had progressed, because you didn't really see it in the story. However, it worked for this story.

Cami's family was hard to take at times. I wanted to yell at them on more than one occasion. It frustrated me that Cami was so strong for them, but when they hurt her, she didn't really stand up for herself.

Overall, this was a great second book in the series. I really enjoy all of the characters and can't wait to read more.

Nick is part of the Nighthawks hockey team and best friend to Chris, who is about to marry the girl of his dreams. As Nick watches his friend fall deeper in love, Nick is wondering if he will find his happily ever after. So he decides to take matters into his own hands by joining a dating site without telling his buddy.

The night of Chris' bachelor party, Nick meets Cami and he begins to see and feel that there might be something more between them. The attraction between them is off the charts. He tries to ask her out, but she shuts him down.

Cami doesn't date hockey players. Been there, done that, got divorced.

I recommend this one and you have to read the first to follow along, but it is not necessary if you don't want to.

This is the second book in the series, and I would recommend that you read them in order, as Chris and Serena's story is great, and as we get to see them marry and feature a lot in this book, it would give you a background to the team too.

In many ways this book deserves 4 stars, but for me it just missed the mark by setting up the drama so completely that I knew it was coming, and didn't really then ring quite true. I really liked both Nick and Camille, and how they were together, so forcing them apart seemed to be a mistake. I also found Nick and her father's bonding to seem a bit strangely timed. These disconnects did not stop me reading as I was keen to know that all worked out, but they did pull me out of the flow of the story.

If you enjoy hockey romances, then this will definitely appeal, and it is great to see Chris and Serena as well as the rest of the crazy team again – Thor and Lucky have to get lucky sometime soon!

Nick meets Cami at his best friend's bachelor party and they hit it off. But Cami does not date hockey players. Nick does well to get around Cami's defences, but Cami's issues put some big hurdles in their path and the whole time they are flirting and dating, you feel like it is only a matter of time before she bolts.

Nick and Cami were a fun couple with good chemistry, but I found after their initial date that my interest started to wane a bit. Too much time is spent inside the characters' heads contemplating how they felt and quickly became repetitive. I briefly contemplated giving up reading, but I liked the characters and I wanted to see their story play out. Two thirds of the way in, the story really picked up and I loved the last third. It was engaging and full of drama and I zoomed through it. I think my favorite thing about this story is the message of the importance of family and that family about more than blood.

As a sport fan, I enjoyed ICE HARD because it was about more than sports. Hockey players that lives outside of sport and it was great to see Nick enjoying his life off the ice as well as on. This gets a sold three stars from me.

With a swoonworthy pro hockey player who shows the world his alpha side on a daily basis but keeps his inner teddy bear a secret and the sassy woman who melts his heart, this book has a lot going for it. I really liked our hero, Nick. He is steadfast in his feelings for Cami and determined to show her that they can become something lasting. Unfortunately, Nick has more patience than me because Camille’s constant indecision and insecurities grated on me more and more as the book continued on. I definitely liked the first half better than the second, but as a whole it’s a solid book.

The story follows Nick, a hockey player who has watched his best friend and teammate fall in love, get engaged and start a family in the last year. He realizes that he wants someone meaningful in his life and sets out to find a woman who loves him for his true self, not the role he plays on the ice. At his friend’s bachelor party, he meets Camille and is immediately taken by her. It’s not quite insta-love, but his feelings form at warp speed. Camille is equally attracted, but her history with hockey players has left her unwilling to open herself up to another one. Nick relentlessly pursues Cami until she accepts her feelings for him, but insecurities continue to linger in the back of her mind.

The writing here is great and Nick is such a good guy. I loved the chemistry between the two at the beginning of the book, and would’ve liked to have explored that a little more. There’s a lot of internalization and not enough interaction between the couple during the middle of the book, and that’s where it started to lose my interest a little bit. I was really liking it initially and then things started to feel both rushed (their feelings) and repetitive (Cami’s hesitancy, so many sex scenes that it felt like the foundation of their relationship). Overall, it’s not a perfect book but it’s definitely worth a read and I’m sure fans of the series won’t be disappointed. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. I would definitely check out the next book in the series - I think I know who our hero will be and it should be interesting.

Ice Hard by Tracy Goodwin is the second book in the A New York Nighthawks series. At the time, I wasn't aware of that. But as my first Tracy Goodwin novel, it wasn't confusing to read since it stands alone, which is appealing for those who never know where to start with book series. It was a great read, it succeeded my expectations, and I have a lot when it comes to #HockeyBooks. Wish there was more hockey talk, but I'm okay with what I got, and it will sit well with those who don't care about hockey.

And now, let us talk about the book:

Ice Hard is about Nick George, a professional hockey player in the NHL. He has his whole life made, a job he loves and amazing best friends. But there's one thing, Nick realizes that he wants to fall in love. But most importantly, he wishes for commitment.

That’s why Nick is ready to settle down. Living the hockey life isn't always glamour and puck bunnies as the crowd thinks. When you start seeing your friends finding love and marrying off, you become jealous of what they have, in the right way. You want it for yourself; you want that commitment and passion. You want to feel blissfully happy. As he sees no alternative, he signs up for a dating app, and that's a secret he’ll never tell. That ’d give his teammate enough chirping material for a lifetime. He’ll never live it down.

Ice Hard is about Camille Benetti, a smart, sarcastic, and strong woman who loves her family and gives all to them without thinking about herself. She's got a degree, a want to pursue more and a never-giving-up attitude.

That's why she doesn't want to find love with a hockey player—again. When she sees Nick, it turns on the red flags that are always on the back of her mind when it comes to his kind. For her, hockey players are never fair and square, and she’s got a story to tell. So, she’ll ignore their chemistry and pull. There’s no enough incentive for her. Not even a smart, down-to-earth hockey will change her mind. Or, will it happen?

For them it all starts at a bar, for the Nighthawks it always starts there. Or so say they say.
