The heart wants what it wants. This was supposedly taboo, a professor & student relationship. Nicely crafted, a story of attraction & passion & a meeting of the minds to take them to their hea. I received an ARC & this is my honest & voluntary review.

So... I hoped I could give this book a higher rate and a nicer review, but I must say that unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations. I had a hard time liking the main characters and I didn't feel connected to them. Zoe was immature. Aiden was boring. Even the sex scenes were dull and did nothing for me. Except for the one in the end, which finally made me feel something, at last. I also had a hard time liking them as a couple. They were both immature, to be honest. While she was clearly a bit spoiled and used to buy expensive food and spend money freely, he shouldn't have felt resentment for it. I mean, he knew well that she came from a rich family and she was also very young. So, they both got on my nerves. She behaved like a spoiled brat sometimes, and he reacted badly. I didn't like how he treated her when she suggested she accompanied him to L.A. for his interview. Even though she was in the wrong, he was rude and his reaction was exaggerated. He could have handled the situation differently. And he should have apologized to her. I must say, the last part of the book, after he comes back from his interview in L.A., felt much better and I liked Aiden and Zoe a tiny bit better. Even the sex was more intense and involved. That's why I'm giving 3 stars, although it's actually 2.5. It would have been 2 stars otherwise.
Zoe's father is having his annual Mardi Gras party and it's a masquerade! While she is there, she encounters a handsome pirate who is looking at her as much as she is looking at him. Several times during he night, they find themselves talking and laughing. At one point, though, she decides to be naughty and they end up outside in an abandoned courtyard for a tryst. Later, she finds out who her mystery pirate is, when she walks into his classroom! Her pirate is none other than her Professor, Aiden Latimer, who also happens to be a friend of her father's. Both of them are shocked and things are awkward. It also doesn't help that Zoe needs help to pass the class but is afraid to seek Aiden out. Her friends convince her to do it and it works out for the best. He even agrees to tutor her and as they spend more time together, they find themselves falling for each other. As Aiden waits the hear back about a job he has applied for in LA, things get heated between the two. The separation while he is in LA for he interview makes them both realize they were wrong but also that they love each other. In the end, it all works out and Zoe gives up her lifelong dream of going to Tulane Law School to follow the man she loves to California. A great love story that is well worth reading! If you are looking for a feel good romance, this book is definitely for you!

This is a steamy, hot contemporary romance about a taboo relationship between a university professor and his student. The characters are well developed and interesting. The narrative gives insight into their emotions and motivations making them pop to life. The storyline is smooth and easy to read as the author weaves together their love story with their internal struggles and numerous external barriers. They discover what they want and what is truly important to them. It is romantic and steamy. The sexual scenes are expertly incorporated into the story. It is a good love story with some heat.

Sweet but taboo attraction between professor and student with even more complications! Zoe Etienne comes from a long line of attorneys. She’s in prelaw at Tulane University in New Orleans, living in her sorority house. At her father’s Mardi Gras masquerade party she’s attracted to a swashbuckling pirate with whom she steels away for sex in the gardens. When they remove their masks, she comes face-to-face with one of her prelaw professors! Aiden Latimer is a youngish law professor at Tulane but hoping to get a position at a LA law firm to make more money. He’s been treading water money-wise for too long. With help from a good friend, Russell Etienne, he hopes to get that opportunity. What will a one-night-stand with Russell’s daughter do to their relationship…to his job opportunity?! Wowza! This was one sweet but very sexy book. Sweet in that we find out so much about Zoe and Aiden’s pasts and what brought them to that moment in time. Aiden’s story is poignant and heartfelt. I just wish his home had a different ending. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout.
Captivating! I couldn't put it down The perfect book for contemporary romance readers. It’s not only fast-paced but for a split second, you’ll also forget that teacher-student relationships are usually taboo. Professor Aiden Latimer is a confusing but charming character. He'd come from humble beginnings and knew exactly what he wanted his future to look like. A job at “Millennium Law Firm in Los Angeles” is icing on the cake. I got the sense that he was into hookups with his older college students and didn't know what he was missing until he met Zoe. As for Zoe, I was pleasantly surprised when she came to the realization that she may have been living within her means and had been a tad bit selfish at times but not everyone, her friends included was as well off as she. Awesome character development. Zoe gave up her longtime dream of attending Tulane Law School to relocate to Los Angeles with Aiden. He’s her dad's friend but there was no escaping it or turning back once they got hit with the feels. A definite recommend. **ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Dirty Assignment by J. P. Comeau I gave this book 3 🌟. I love this author, and I will read anything she writes. Unfortunately for me this book wasn't my favorite of hers. I just couldn't connect with Zoe and Aiden characters or their story. To be honest I am not a big fan of Professor/Student romance novels. The reason I read this one is because I review most of J.P. Comeau's books .....so I gave this one a try. They met at a masquerade ball, that Zoe's father gave, they hooked up without knowing who each other was until the end of the night when they removed the mask. They were shocked!!! She is a law student, and he was teaching constitutional Law at her University ....he was her professor of that class, which she needs to get an A and she was failing. She would need to improve her grades to straight A's in order to graduate from Tulane University; then be accepted into Tulane Law School. Their relationship progressed into a more emotional, and serious boyfriend & girlfriend status. After ups and downs they found their HEA. It's a standalone book, no cliffhangers.
3 1/2 stars. Dirty Assignment by J. P. Comeau is a well-written novel about Zoe, a college student on the brink of graduation, and Aiden, a college Law professor. They meet at a masquerade party during Mardi Gras in New Orleans where a harmless flirtation turns into a sexual encounter. When the masks are removed, both Zoe and Aiden are appalled as to their identities. It turns out that Zoe is Aiden's student at Tulane University. To make matters worse, she is on the verge of failing his class. What happens next? The answer is ... well, you will need to read the book to see how the situation is resolved. Although the premise of this book seems farfetched, it is totally in the realm of possibility. Anyone who has traveled to New Orleans during Mardi Gras festivities can attest to the fact that an attitude of "anything goes" is prevalent. If you enjoy reading about taboo relationships, this romance will hit the mark.
This review may have SPOILERS. They encounter each other at Zoe's fathers masquerade ball during Mardi Gras. The pirate and the princess end up in the garden sharing a sexual moment. Afterwards they take their masks off. Oops, it's Zoe's professor and her fathers friend, Aiden Latimer. Zoe freaks, finally talks to her roommates, then talks to Aidan. For Zoe to graduate and get into Tulane School of Law, she needs a A in the law class Aidan is teaching. Aidan offers to tutor her. She goes to his house. They take it slow, tutoring, then learning about each other as friends. It is a well written, intriguing book of a taboo romance. Should you date your professor? Taboo. Should you date your parents friend and not tell them, especially when he's waiting for an interview for a job in LA. Taboo. She wants to go to Tulane School of Law, he wants to start over in LA.

A love story of a humble man and a wealthy young woman. Zoe and Aiden meet at a masquerade party held by Zoe’s father whom also is friend with Aiden. Aiden is Zoe’s professor, but are unaware of who each other are in their costumes. They get intimate at the party and afterwards decides to uncover their masks to reveal whom they are only to realize that they knew each other and this was not going to be good. Ultimately, they surpass the moment of awkwardness and began a friendship that turned into something more afterwards. Zoe comes to figure out that she has been privilege to have more than others when Aiden makes it a point to state that he could not regain his money as easily as she could. The ending was not what I expected as I thought something would change, but the story is good and keeps you sucked in until the end.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Aiden and Zoe. She's a law student that is having issues in one class. Her parents are hosting a masquerade party during Mardi gras and invited a bunch of their associates. Hoping for a fling she pulls out all the stops. When she keeps running into the dashing pirate she feels it's a sign. They get hot and heavy in a darkened courtyard. When they reveal their identities she's stunned to find he's get professor, the class she's not doing well in to. But what they both can't believe it's they both want more than just a fling. This story is about learning their history and how they work together to get her grade up the old fashioned way, studying. When he gets a interview in CA can their relationship survive the long distance and what about her parents? All great questions that need answered for all involved.

Zoe got made up looking like a Princess by her two best friends at their sorority house. Her father was holding a costume party. She would be the only one attending out of the three friends. Maggie was going back home for a parade and Abigail didn't take the day off from work. Zoe hoped she would meet her Prince at the party so she was looking forward to it. Aiden a law professor was attending the costume party dressed as a Pirate. He is a friend of Zoe's father Russel but the two had never met. Aiden catches sight of Zoe and is enthralled by her. But with their masks on they don't know who they are. There it begins something that shouldn't be, a professor and a student. But it's something they can't stop. Such a great book by J.P. Comeau. Wonderful characters and story line. Recommend it.

Zoe is at her father's Mardi Gras party and she is dressed in a princess costume. She sees this pirate and she is taken in by how handsome he is. Both are wearing costumes so they don't know each other. They sneak off to the gardens for some hot sex. Afterward when they both unmask, they find out he is her professor. Zoe's father is a wealthy attorney and she is a spoiled only child. She actually comes from a line of lawyers who attended Tulane Law School. Aiden is a family friend and actually her mother Lily helped him keep from losing his childhood home. They both are from New Orleans. She is in Aiden's class and she is having trouble with this class and she needs to do good in it to get into law school. Aiden is interviewing for a law job in Los Angeles and so they have to figure out their feelings for one another and what they are going to do about it. Easy reading and written well just felt like I would like to know what the rest of the story is.....
This is a great taboo story about a college student, Zoe and her professor, Aiden. While at her fathers annual Mardi Gras masquerade party these two meet and flirt all night and by the end of the night they become intimate and become shocked once they remove their mask! Zoe is a student studying law at Tulane, and Aiden is a professor teaching law and a friend of Zoe’s father. They both are unsure how to handle this but realize it’s more than a one night hookup. Zoe needs help with her class work and Aiden is lonely and wants company. After spending time together they become a couple but hide it until the semester ends and Aiden finds out if he gets the job out in CA. Once things fall into place do they share their secret with her parents. I enjoyed how each Zoe and Aiden grow along with the story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjpyed this story. Ms. Comeau wrote this story so well. She explains where the characters come from and why they are who they are today. At no time did I have an ick factor of a professor having a relationship with a student. The professor is actually looking for a job at an L.A. law firm. Aiden, the professor, got a great letter of recommendation from Zoe's dad. Zoe and Aiden have fallen in love. The move to L.A. would actually be great for their relationship.
The question is how is her father going to react about Zoe attending an L.A law school. They have a family tradition of their lawyers going to Tulane.
Will Zoe's happiness take priority over tradition? You've got to read this hot, emotional story to find out!

A great well written book where the characters drew you in yes it may have been taboo as in it is s teacher/student but it never really came across as taboo it just came across as a sweet love story This is the story of Zoe Etienne the daughter of a a prominent law firm in New Orleans she is studying prelaw but is taking a break attending her father's Mardi Gras masquerade party there she has a passionate one night stand with a swashbuckling pirate imagine her surprise when she finds out the pirate is her youngish law professor Aiden Latimer. Aiden is wanting to move to New York as he needs to increase his income and his best chance is with the help of his friend Russell Etienne but has he just blown that chance with his one night stand with Zoe and truthfully does he want it to be only a one night stand or his he wanting so much more
Student / teacher romance approached in an original way I liked this student / teacher story because it does not start as one might expect and is more complex because of the characters' relationships with everyone around them. The characters are attracted without knowing who they are (masked ball) and when they discover themselves, all the social bonds that unite them stop them and they deceide to take the time of the reflexion. With their future careers, the fact that Aiden may leave, that Zoe, is not exceptional at the university, that she is a student and he's her teacher whose mentors are none other than her parents, nothing facilitates what they have. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I enjoyed Reading the book was a nice quick read but I was expecting more taboo , yes it’s taboo subject but it didn’t seemed like too taboo to anyone it was like a nice romance that they were hiding from her parents it didn’t seem like they were trying hard to hold back or hide in class you saw no oh no nearly moments of being spotted etc and that was what I was expecting and by the characters I thought she was younger then than what she actually was I know teacher and student is a taboo subject but I was just I don’t know expecting more ?

I really loved reading this book as it had a fantastic story and kept my attention right until the end. It is fun filled, with an element of sinful sexiness thrown in for good measure. Aiden had been feeling restless for a while, but he seemed to find his centre after Zoe came into his life. The chemistry between them at the masquerade ball was explosive and they knew it was something real, that they had to explore. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a feel good, exceptional book to read.

I really enjoyed Dirty Assignment by J. P. Comeau. Zoe is going to her dad's annual Mardi Gras masquerade party. Zoe is studying pre-law as she comes from a family of lawyers. J.P. Comeau starts the Spring Fling series with this book about a college student and her professor. Zoe meets a mysterious man at her father’s masquerade ball on Mardi Gras in New Orleans. She has a quick, reckless moment of passion only to find out that he is her professor. J.P. Comeau does a wonderful job of keeping the readers immersed in their efforts to deny their growing feelings of love. The author makes it authentic by mentioning New Orleans landmarks and uses last names associated with the region. It was an interesting book about a taboo relationship with the conflict of the two characters having career dreams in different parts of the country.
Zoe and Aiden's chemistry was over the top when they met at a masquerade ball. There was definitely a connection that ran deep and intimate. Imagine their surprise when their masks came off and they realized who each other was. Taboo, professor and student. What happens when they grow even closer? Does he relocate to the other side of the country without her? Do they end up together? No spoiler here, but a great story that will have you flipping pages and wanting more. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
Aiden and Zoe met at a masquerade party and were flirting with one another, they didn't know each other with the mask that they wore. One thing lead to another and they had a quick hookup. But after all was done they removed their mask, and surprise, surprise it's professor and student. What I really enjoyed was how agent they decided to move forward with their relationship, they took it slow, really getting to know each other better and they fell in love.

So, I don't really get the title. I found this book more sweet than dirty. There were a few hot, sexy scenes but overall it came across as a sweet romance. The taboo of student / professor relationship wasn't really addressed as a huge taboo issue in this book. While it was very well written I just didn't feel that it had much of a story line build up / resolution. I did like the sexy scenes and the HEA for Zoe and Aiden.

Dirty Assignment. This book was sweeter than I expected. Being a taboo romance I thought there would be more scandal and misunderstanding with Zoe's family. Zoe and the Professor handled the relationship with a great respect for all involved. The beginning of the story took some getting used to. Once I understood where the story was going, I enjoyed the book.
