Kind of interesting but the book felt more historical rather than a description of belief systems (at times) to be honest.

I read this mainly for early Hindu philosophy (Advaita Vedanta) but enjoyed the broad overview it presented. There is a bold claim that Japanese Zen is the only direct response or challenge to Western Philosophy at the end but otherwise it seems balanced (with limited breath of major regional schools - including Mao and Gandi!) and insightful throughout. But I'm no expert so take it as a "this seems a good intro to me".
