Misuzu Hara is a 24-year-old high school teacher who, four years earlier, endured a traumatic experience at the hands of Hayafuji, the then-boyfriend of her best friend Minako. She has never forgotten the experience, but she has kept it secret from Minako to protect their engagement, and has rationalized it to herself as having occurred to her due to her being a woman, even if it has continued to negatively impact her emotional well-being.
Akane Torikai (Japanese: 鳥飼茜, Torikai Akane) is a Japanese manga author. Torikai entered the manga industry around 2004, working as an assistant to Minoru Furuya, while publishing her own short stories in shojo (girls') manga magazines, including 'Bessatsu Shojo Friend' and 'Be Love'. Torikai acquired fame with her longer comics, serialised in seinen (adult) manga magazines. Her works usually tackle controversial topics, often with a feminist perspective. Among her books are: Sensei's Pious Lie (2013-2017), about a young female teacher dealing with sexual assault; Jigoku no Girlfriend (2014-2017), featuring three young women sharing an apartment and looking for their place in modern Japan; Wandering Cat’s Cage (2017-2018), set in a dystopian matriarchal society that limits women freedom; Saturn Return (2019-2022), on a young writer investigating the suicide of a friend.
Hayafuji seems to be affected by his beating of Hara. He is shown drunk at home passed out on the couch with the house a mess. Since what her face is staying with her parents so tjey can help her since sje just got out of the hospital. Reina turns herself in for what she did to what's her name. And she denies an affair between Reina and Hayafuji essentially calling her a stalker who has made up a relationship between her and Hayafuji to break them up. Hayafuji wakes up from a bad dream which is him as a 6-8 year old seeing his mom laying on the floor with a bruised face asking her ehu his dad hits her and why doesn't she get mad at him, why doesn't tell him to stop. And does she want him to get angry at him in her place. Which cause her to jump up grab his leg and tell him no. To not confront his gatjer tjat it's her fault his dad hots her. Which is sad he grew up in such a terrible home and saw his father beat on and abuse his mother and even worse that he grew up to be a serial rapist who has beat on one women. I still hate his fucking guts. Regardless of his unfortunate backstory.
So Misakana finally shows her hand and she does like Niizuma and convinced Hara-sensei to end her thing with Niizuma since she/they weren't good for each other. Sensei does end it with Niizuma and convinces him to give Misakana a chance. They hang out right before Christmas and plan to spend Christmas break together but instead go to Misakana's place to have sex. Misakana asks if Niizuma liles her the way she like him and he says he's trying. She doesn't care for his answer and shows him the picture for him and Hara-sensei together. And basically says that sensei will be the one who takes the hit if this gets out. So he starts undressing her and she gets upset and starts crying that he's not into her, she slaps him and tells him to get out. He gathers his shit and leaves. Misakana is crying womdering whu he can attempt to sleep with her if he doesn't like her and her brother is shown apologizing to Misakana.
You know what I forgot to mention about to Misakana? Which is shocking I forgot because when it was revealed. I was like WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING FUCK!?! Her brother is a hikikomori and has a little peep hole into her room which he uses to watch her. It seems he did something to her or someone else in the past. Or just did something that caused lock himself in his room. And obviously this affects her. Because who wouldn't be fucked up in some why if they had a sibling jerking it to them.
After Niizuma leaves Misakana's place. Everyone is seen getting a text and it's a picture of Hara-sensei and Niizuma together. Which is different from the one Misakana showed Niizuma which means she has been following them around for-fucking-ever probably.
Volumes ends. And now on to the final volume to see how the teacher-student romance scandal plays out. And if Hayafuji ever answers for his crimes.
