A drop of poison is all it takes to bring the biggest wedding of the season to its knees.
Anastasia Winters adheres to the adage that the show must go on, but when the groom of her latest wedding drops dead before “I do,” she’s left with no backup plan.
Things get even stickier when her friend and esteemed caterer, Francois, is named the top suspect.
Ana's loyalties are tested as the investigation turns into a vicious tug-of-war. She believes Francois is innocent, but holding the other side of the rope is the lead detective--her serious boyfriend--and the more she struggles, the more her own chance at happily ever after starts to unravel.
It’s up to Anastasia to find the killer, while gripping tightly to her relationships before they break and leave her with nothing.

Wedding Bells and Deadly Spells is the third audiobook in Danielle Garrett’s A Touch of Magic mysteries series and picks up about 6 months later with Anastasia Winters walking through a dress rehearsal on her largest wedding yet.
The couple, particularly the groom, have been a nightmare, and she has even planned a post wedding celebratory dinner to mark its end. Impossible demands, all take the back seat when the groom dies at the altar and her friend is her boyfriend’s number one suspect.
Oh my, this was such an exciting installment. While these audiobooks may only be four hours long, Garrett sure packs a punch. We see development with key characters, relationships and get an interesting murder-mystery to solve.
Fans of Garrett will be delighted to see Holly, a potions master from Beechwood. I think this series and book are my favorite of Garrett’s. I cannot wait for more!
When a groom is poisoned and dies, Anastasia and friends are on the case. A good mystery and fun and interesting characters. I especially liked this book because Anastasia needs to figure out her self-worth and make some important decisions. And Anastasia's romance heats up.
What a great way to wrap up this series! I love the way Anastasia is dealing with such an awful couple and when the groom drops dead at the altar, they quickly become the worst nightmare she’s ever had for a wedding. I loved the way things developed with her career in this book, as well as with Harmony. We had a couple little cameo appearances from Holly (Beechwood Harbor) and I loved seeing how that side of the story progressed. It was like getting a behind the scenes from a favorite tv show. As with all the books, the mystery is interesting and Anastasia ends up more involved than she really should. Her boyfriend Kaleb, of course, is assigned to all the cases she’s involved in and that actually complicates things here. Their relationship is also progressing well and I enjoyed seeing them heading towards the HEA.
I find myself so engrossed in Danielle Garrett 's books! Her characters and worlds just come alive with fantasy while maintaining a down to earth vibe! Just can't wait for the next!
Rich, entitled, and very connected makes a jerk groom and his bride, Anastasia's personal penance for months through planning their nuptials. She dreams of their 'I do' moment with happiness more than they do. I have such a good time with this author's books that I couldn't wait to jump back in her paranormal cozy mystery world.
Wedding Bells and Deadly Spells was the third of the Touch of Magic series that is a spinoff of the Beechwood Harbor Magic series. This series should be read in order to get the full storyline for main character and recurring characters, but it also works especially best after getting the older series because there is a small crossover with that series main character into this book.
Anastasia is a premier wedding planner for a big well-established agency. She's at the top of her game with her career and her romantic relationship with Caleb, her Supernatural Police Agency boyfriend. But, when the snobby and annoying groom is murdered and her caterer friend stands accused by Caleb as the investigating officer even as she gets pounced on by a boss always waiting to catch her out, she is on the verge of losing everything. And, what's with her younger sister sneaking around and lying to her? Can't a poor witch catch a break?
I loved how this one turned out. Anastasia really got put through the wringer personally. It still had a light and fun feel, but also touched on personal relationships, career dreams, and big changes for her future while offering up a good murder mystery. She hit a low time and had to struggle which made it all the more engaging.
The mystery was good, but, I confess, that I only gave it half a thought because I was more interested in the intrigues of her personal life this go around.
Amanda Ronconi is very familiar and was a welcome sound when I picked this one up in audio edition. She has been the voice of all the author's books and let me say, that is a good thing. She makes listening to this series and the others an enhanced experience because she captures her characters, the world, and the tone of the author's writing so well. There is an inter-changeableness in that Ana sounds like Holly and Scarlett and Caleb sounds like the other heroine's boyfriends, but I didn't mind nor did it confuse me.
I think this series is getting better with each new release since this was the best yet to me. If you want entertaining cozy mystery set in a paranormal world with a well-developed cast of characters, you need look no further.
My thanks to Tantor Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.
Picking up roughly six months after the conclusion of the previous book, Wedding Bells and Deadly Spells brings listeners up to speed on magical wedding planner Anastasia Winters. Dealing with a nightmarish, but rich and powerful, “groomzilla,” Ana does her best to keep calm waters, even planning a celebratory dinner with friends after the wedding is over. However, she doesn’t make it that far because the groom drops dead before he can say “I do,” and once again her boss blames Ana for the problems and negative publicity.
Like its predecessors, Wedding Bells and Deadly Spells is a cozy paranormal mystery at its center. Ana takes a more active roll this time around, which does put her at odds with her SPA boyfriend, who is in charge of the case. I appreciated that even though she did some snooping of her own, she is upfront with Kaleb, keeping him in the loop. The mystery was entertaining, but not quite as involving as the previous two books. Part of this is because the mystery is solved three-quarters of the way into the book, with the remaining quarter dedicated to Ana’s personal growth and development.
I’m not sure if this is the final book in the series, but it had an air of finality, leaving Ana in a very good place, complete with her HEA. Original series (Beechwood Harbor) sleuth, Holly Bolt makes an appearance in Wedding Bells and Deadly Spells. This ends up impacting Ana’s life via Harmony, her sister, who has been living with Ana for the past year plus. Based on what happened in this one, I anticipate we will be seeing Harmony, along with another Touch of Magic regular, in Holly’s series.
Narration: Amanda Ronconi continues to work her own magic with Ms. Garrett’s series, once again turning in a wonderful performance. The Touch of Magic Mysteries is voiced from the first person POV of Anastasia. Ms. Ronconi gives Ana a solid presence, making her unique and identifiable. She provides enough differences between character voices to make each distinguishable from the next. Her male voices are generally deeper and fitting and familiar if you’d listened to the other series. However the characters and setting/story are different enough not to cause confusion when listening.
Whether or not this is the final Touch of Magic Mystery, I really like Ana, and I am glad to see her so happy in the end. This is a fun series - good mysteries, and I just adore the main characters. Here’s hoping we see more of Ana in the days to come.
Well there we have it. this was a nice little series with some good mysteries. I liked how this one went. The death was your usual but I liked how Anastasia solved this one and how the Detectives caught the killer was cool. I liked that Ana got her own happy ending too. It'll be interesting to read how her sister gets on in her new job.
Nice to see Anastasia working on her happy ending. After taking so much verbal abuse from her boss, Anastasia finally quits on the heels of a deadly wedding. This was a quick, fun read filled with changes for many of the characters.
I mean. I managed to finish the whole thing in a day. I was solidly invested in Anastasia’s story and seeing it conclude. I was also so happy that there was a decent chunk dedicated to tying it up and weaving it into the greater Beechwood Harbor story/world. This really is such an amazing world that Danielle Garrett has created and I am here for it.
It was Great wrap up full Circle of Anastasia and her group of friends - i loved all of then this author writes really fun light and interesting characters
I love it. The Anastasia Winters, witch wedding planner is my favorite magic cozy mystery series 🧙♀️🏩🍾💕. I love the premise, and I like the characters more than other cozies. Specifically, I appreciate that the authoritative investigator is a substantial role with many positive qualities. This is different from most cozies, where the investigator is usually a bungling dunce throwaway character. I don't even completely hate all the villians, which is also a refreshing change from the established cozy formula; some, but definitely not all. Overall, I would love to read more from this series and this main character and her talents.
This one was such a whirlwind—equal parts chaos, charm, and magical murder. Honestly, what more could I ask for?
Anastasia found herself in the middle of wedding mayhem again, but this time, even she couldn't have predicted how things would implode. The bride and groom were both the kind of nightmare clients that make you question your life choices—entitled, dramatic, and impossible to please. Anastasia was practically counting down the days until they said “I do” just so she could finally be rid of them. But then the groom dropped dead at the altar (yes, right there in the middle of the ceremony), and everything unraveled fast.
What made this one stand out for me was how deeply personal it got. Anastasia wasn’t just dealing with a murder scene at a wedding she planned—her own relationship with Caleb got dragged into the mess when her close friend ended up as his prime suspect. That tension between their professional responsibilities and personal loyalty added so much depth. Watching them try to navigate it felt real, frustrating, and tender all at once.
The mystery itself was engaging, but I’ll admit, I was more invested in Anastasia’s growth. She got hit from all sides—career sabotage, strained friendships, and family drama (her sister was acting very suspicious), and yet she still pushed through. I loved seeing her unravel not just the case but the mess that had become her life. There were some solid twists, especially around who was behind the murder and why, but the heart of the story was all about Anastasia standing up for herself and what she wants.
The cameos were also such a treat! Seeing Holly pop in from Beechwood Harbor felt like a little gift to long-time fans. It gave that same cozy familiarity of returning to a well-loved show where you know the characters and feel part of their world.
The writing was sharp and funny, with just enough bite to make you feel like the stakes mattered. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—this series blends cozy mystery with paranormal charm so well, and somehow manages to keep each installment fresh. I was genuinely sad to see this one wrap up. It felt like the end of an era in the best possible way. If there’s ever more from Anastasia’s world, I’ll be first in line.
I enjoyed this book. Although it focused a lot more on the characters home life drama and I certainly help its not the last in the series despite the big shame up, I didn't see that coming. It was a nice cross over with another of the author's fabulous series. and the author has created a great community in this series and others and it was nicely expanded. I just love the characters, the romance, the solidarity, friendships and of course the magic of a haven community. Even though the mystery did take a step back, it was still good and kept me guessing. Off to check out another series by this prolific and talented writer because I know it will be entertaining and magical. After the groom drops dead before saying his vows, Anastasia fed up with taking the blame for everything that goes wrong quits her job as wedding planner. With time on her hands and not wanting to decided on what her future would look like, she decides to look into the death. Especially as her friend seems to be the police's main focus. The groom wasn't liked by anybody and Anastasia feels the suspect list should be a lot longer but can she really clear her friends name when she is worried about her own future? I like the narrator and add in a great story teller and you have a great series to sit back and enjoy.
Anastasia Winters is increasingly unhappy at her wedding firm and after the groom drops dead and her boss blames her, she quits on the spot. Jobless and without purpose, Anastasia tries to help protect her friend which results in her relationship with her detective boyfriend to end up on the rocks. ------------------------------------------------------- This book was a little disappointing? The main conflict of this book was the romance and it ends up not really getting addressed? They had the same issue in every single book where Anastasia got in the middle of her boyfriend's investigation so it makes sense that he finally blew up on her but it's never explained why and honestly isn't even fully addressed at the end.
The murder mystery element was weaker but the relationship was the conflict in this book so that made sense.
I also wish there were more time spent developing the side characters, especially her sister and Anastasia's relationship and history. I genuinely thought that was going to be a plot thread that would be unraveled through the trilogy because it was constantly brought up but it ended up being a nothing burger.
It's not a bad triolgy but I feel like Garrett could've went farther with it.
Anastasia and her boyfriend SPA agent Caleb McCord attend the ritzy wedding Ana, as Anastasia is called by her close friends and the family, is planning for a snobby society couple. She is a premier wedding planner for a local group, A Touch of Magic.
Unfortunately everything falls apart when the unpleasant groom dies at the wedding ceremony and later it is discovered through toxicology reports, he has been poisoned. Shocking! So the hunt is on for the murderer.
But things are increasingly stressful for Ana with her crazed boss at A Touch of Magic and when there is tooooo much pressure because Hyacinth her boss is indeed bat crap over the top crazy one too many times, and Anastasia has had it up to the ah, beyond enough -she QUITS! leaving her work nemesis colleague Kait to finally take over Anastasia’s job, as she has been attempting to do for years.
And in the midst of allll this chaos, Ana is unraveling clues to help Caleb find the murderer. All those years of watching crime shows will finally pay off!
Great writing on those series by D Garrett, wonderful heroine and support cast which makes it totally enjoyable and the reveal of the killer SUCH a surprise! And an absolutely worthwhile read
I've finally caught up on the Anastasia Winters world of wedding planning. This most recent book was a joy to read. Having read Danielle 's other series (look them up. They'e enthralling) I expected no less and was not left wanting. Anastasia 's big society wedding not only has a Bridezilla but a Groomzilla too. Counting down the hours until she can shake the glittery dust of this wedding off her feet, Ana is gobsmacked when Evan, the boorish groom, collapses & dies as Charlene, the snobby bride, arrives at the front of the wedding venue. To cap an absolutely horrid day, Kait, her assistant/enemy calls Hyacinth, volcanic tempered boss of A Touch of Magic. After being hauled over the coals as if the murder was her fault, Anastasia gives her boss a tongue lashing of her own & quits. Though wedding planner is her dream job, Ana finds herself wondering what her future will hold. In the meantime, her SPA agent boyfriend, Caleb, is lead investigator on Evan's murder. So Ana decides to help. After all, she has to fill her time somehow.
I really enjoyed reading this trilogy. I almost wish there were more books with Ana and Caleb in them. I hope we get to see them popping up in the Beechwood Harbor series.
While I'm still annoyed that the author barely describes the characters, I enjoyed the book too much to remove a star for it.
The mystery itself was meh and predictable. I liked the magic that was involved, it was unique. I really like Meryl and glad she will continue on in other books. Not sure how I feel about Harmony, she's flighty and not strong enough to carry a book. Good thing she's just a supporting character (for now).
I didn't like that Ana went the route of so many other MCs in cozy mysteries by putting her nose in police business. One of the reasons I liked these books was because she didn't do that. This wasn't a stereotypical cozy mystery. The police weren't bumbling incompetent idiots, the MC wasn't a clueless fool, and there was very little bickering.
Seeing Hyacinth and Kait finally getting a smack down was awesome.
A great read. Nice plot that was overshadowed by the events in her personal life making the mystery just a touch superfluous. Great to see the way she suddenly got a backbone and wiped the smile off Hyacinth's and Kait's faces. Plus it ended on a really sweet note. The wedding from hell would soon be over. That's all she kept saying to herself as the groom found another reason to throw his weight around - for hours! However when he falls down dead as his would be brides feet it all feels unreal. But when Hyacinth shows up with demands that she makes things right, it's the straw that broke the camel's back. She quits! What on earth has she done? Add in the 'bride's' secret meeting with a former partner of the dead groom, an innocent man being charged, a new business venture, her sister pursuing her dreams, a hostage situation and Caledonian making a grand gesture.
The third installment in the adventures of Anastasia Winters and her sister, Harmony, we are exposed to the downside of working with the public--the really, really downside. Anastasia has been working for the last six plus months to pull off the wedding of the season for Evan Stimpton and Charlene Fitzpatrick. Evan is an entitled brat while Charlene is one of the 'mean' girls. No detail is too small for nitpicking! When the groom drops dead in front of the alter, no one wants to say "I do". A large number of changes come to Anastasia as she works to help find a killer. I've enjoyed this trilogy of magical adventures with Anastasia Winters and her friends. The characters are likable and detailed while the plot is developed and left me wondering "who did it?"
The first books was hands down the best. Was it incredibly cheesy? Yes. Was it also a fun and cute listen? Also yes. I was a little disappointed that the series don’t get better as it went along. The stakes were lower, the mystery wasn’t as interesting or even the main focus.
Spoilers!!!! What even happened to Kate and Anastasia’s rivalry? Literally the prequel displayed it the most and then it became like non existent. The third book was basically the preque’sl plot extended. Also why was Anastasia’s and Caleb’s relationship just so easy? I was hoping at the beginning of the first book there was going to be some good banter or something. But I will say I LOVED that Anastasia went off on her own.
Wedding bells and deadly spells - Danielle Garrett
📚 paranormal romance ⭐️ 4/5 🔥 0/5
Anastasia is working a high profile wedding with the most difficult groom she’s ever had to deal with. With the end in sight Anastasia has made plans for a celebratory dinner to celebrate the end of this wedding, unfortunately those plans get derailed when the groom drops dead during the ceremony. Things only get more interesting when Anastasia’s boss comes marching in berating Anastasia for this disaster and Anastasia does the last thing anyone expects and quits on the spot. Danielle, girl, you’ve done it again. I wish there was more to Anastasia’s story because I loved this trilogy within this universe you’ve created, but it was a perfect end to her story.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, Ms. Garrett brings it! When a disaster happens, (book 2) Anastasia quits her job at A Touch of Magic. Now she’s facing, what? She’s 🤔 uncertain. Her sister seems to be hiding something but she doesn’t know what. The only thing Harmony ever wanted to do was to go into potions. Anastasia’s dream was always an event planner. Well maybe the dreams will come true. The part about having a sexy boyfriend has! Caleb is a dream come true. Even though they were so busy it was hard to get together. Things will turn out ok. Love the ending! Must read.
Another wedding of Anastasia goes very wrong when the groom is murdered at the altar Caleb, Anastasia and Harmony all run around, trying to find the murderer. A man besotted with the bride, kills his rival. Meanwhile Anastasia quits her magic weddings position with Hyacinth. Harmony heads off to learn how to be a master of potions. Anastasia is a success at her new venture capturing the wedding of the hottest couple. Aurelia was a big help. Anastasia is feted by her friends celebrating her success and Caleb proposes. Cute.

Ana's got the wedding of the year with the worst clients. Evan is a diva and a control freak. Then he drops dead at the altar and Ana's boyfriend is the lead investigator. When an arrest is made, Ana doesnt feel right about it. Then a chance encounter on the street sets events in motion that completely throws everything up in the air.
I love seeing the development that Harmony has made. And Ana striking out on her own was so exciting.
Ana shows real backbone and starts determining her own future moves, which is great for a MC. There's yet another murder involving one of her events; there's plenty of tension in the investigation, but the motive and killer are weak (great use of magic in the takedown, though!). I love the core characters in this series, and it's good to know there will be crossovers, but I want more of Ana's and Caleb's future!
