Experimenting with the World: John Dewey and the Early Childhood Classroom

Rate this book
Harriet K. Cuffaro offers a detailed account of how the educational philosophy of John Dewey may be translated into the everyday life of the classroom. Particular attention is given to "learning from experience"—a fundamental concept in early education—and the complexities involved in experiential learning. “This book is a good refresher course on Deweyan educational philosophy and its application, written as simply and clearly as possible.”
—History of Education Quarterly
“Should prove invaluable for beginning as well as experienced travelers who care both for the ‘what’ and the ‘what for’ of curriculum.”
—Margaret Yonemura

as advertised. a practically and theoretically engaging reading dewey into context of early ed classroom. Learning is social. What are we talking about when we say "learn from experience"?
