Ceylon Gautier is a gang banger turned business man after his school gives a test created by Mensa. Once Ceylon’s IQ is discovered his life takes on a new meaning. But all though he’s taken out of his unfortunate situation he remains true to the game while trying to balance the two lifestyles and keep them completely separated.

I tried to get into it

Reoccurring theme of green eyes , long curly hair, 16 yo then 7 y later.

This book reads like your home girl who can carry a conversation all by herself if you keep saying “uhun” there is no story just a long horrible conversation.
For instance, when Ceylon came to get Aasen from granny house after Ryan’s week of not speaking with him. Ceylon and Aasen leave out of the house and walk to the car. The author tells us that he opens the door for Aasen to get in. He and Ryan exchange words then he puts his arm around her. When did Ryan get off the porch? I thought they were yelling across the lawn 🤷🏽‍♀️ Ryan is super childish always blocking/ignoring somebody!

Reed was mentioned at the beginning of the story and we finally got to more info about her at 22% of the book. I was going to read her chapter to see what she was about until in the second paragraph she|the author addressed the audience (my biggest pet peeve). I already thought the writing was horrible but then it was confirmed. 1. We know who she is 2. If you actually gave descriptions with context you wouldn’t have to address the audience. Thus I skipped over her chapter, Torys & his girl, and Reid’s!

And there was so much unnecessary situations or maybe I don’t know the plot. WHAT IS IT???
We never got an explicit display of a time line until “The Same Day Trisha Sucked Ol' Boy Off” was that necessary? About Halfway through the book they started to use the word “bruh” in every conversation, so annoying.
PS - there is nothing THICK about a 5’5 size 18. Also Ceylon addressing a 7 yo as “ni##a” is deplorable❗️
So many things are unbelievable: Jackson popping up everywhere she is. Paparazzi, DNF AT 55%

Now what reason did Ryan have to hide that big secret from Cey. Also I think the secret is pretty dumb, especially if y’all know yall slept together. You should think of your self as a possibility. Then I see man are taking Talisha’s side when her and Tory were wrong. This man begged you to keep his kids and you still aborted them. Then he stayed with her after the fact knowing he will never forgive her, so they will never work. He’s not wrong for feeling the way he feels. He just wrong for making her think they still have hope. But Talisha an adult and she could’ve walked away too, just like she did and slept with Max first night without knowing a damn thing about him. She’s not innocent and it’s best that they break up. Talisha and Tory cheated on each other and hurt each other. Mac give me whiteboy trying to prove a point vibe which gives lame. But he was wrong too. Because he and Talisha just met and he already trying to throw him and Talisha thing in Tory face when he in fact looked stupid because she still wanted Tory. Her and Max will never work because she’s inlove with Tory and until she is over him. She can’t move on with anybody.

Started kind of shaky but ended up being really good

As good as this book is, I had to shave star off. The first half of the star is due to every book this author writes the women are always running from the persons they’re suppose to be with, which gets mad annoying. Ryan was really working my freaking nerves. The second half of the star is because we don’t need to know what the characters are wearing in EVERY scene. Like it didn’t matter if they were going to bed, out to eat, work, etc. I had to start skipping paragraphs because I got tired of reading about it. Other than that this is a great story so far.

This book was so freaking good! I can't wait for part two to reveal all these secrets. The dynamics of the different couples were so interesting, especially Ryan and Ceylon. I knew from the very beginning they were feeling each other. I think he's hella crazy though and it doesn't help that he's super smart. Honestly, you wouldn't even know this was the author's first book because it was written so well and she developed the characters so much. And to top it all off, the book is set in my hometown, Baton Rouge. I recommend this book to anybody, it was a great read!

Just dumb

This book has to be the dumbest book, that I've ever read! Reed and Ryan both are so dumb to be so book smart. I felt like the author was all over the place with this story. How Ryan going to have a baby one man but claim its by another man. Then Ceylon never questioned the paternity when he's been there for the baby since day one and now the baby is seven? Man miss me with crazy and dumb story😡

Great read, I thought the son was horrible with his mouth and at times it didn't seem like the story was going anywhere. The secrets kept coming but at the same time seemed obvious, especially who her BF was. I'll be reading the next one. 11/22/2019 5:43

Its crazy how ppl can be so jealous and deceitful because of power and money. This part 1 was crazy to find out the ppl closest to you are also scamming you is a hard pill to swallow. I was glad that they got what they deserved but pray Aaeson pulls through as well as Ryan.

First time reading this author and i could not put this book down . Wow Ryan was holding thar secret for so long why didn’t she tell Cey that Aassen was his son. I’m happy that they finally got together but i feel like Cey is not going forgive her for not telling him the truth. I’m glad that Reed and Reid got together as well but let’s see how it’s going to last. Can’t wait for part 2
