Promises have been made, and promises will have to be kept.
After all the drama surrounding the invasion of the White Crane Hall, Seiki gave his word to Ippei that he’d join the War Games. So, when he hits level 14 and finally gets eligible for his first troops, Seiki gets ready to face the Demonic Clan and begin his climb up the military ranks.
But before he can claim his unit from the Shogun, Seiki has one last promise to fulfill. Together with the whole band, he has to clear Nezumi Temple—aka the rat dungeon—in order to secure a rare armguard for Yamura as a thank you for saving their neck back at the siege. However, the drop rate for the item could be as low as 4%. And after running the instance for close to twenty times, they’re all starting to wonder whether the darn piece even exists...
I have been waiting for book 3 to come out for ages as this is s great example of the genre. Good solid charachters plenty of action and a good grasp of game mechanics, the plot is intriguing and engageing. Cannot wait to find out what he has for a sheathed blade!
This book....bored me. Seriously, tons of action but our MC gets too hung up on NPCs, weird quests and the rest of the side characters just fall to the wayside. I enjoy this world, but this book didn't do it for me at all.
I mean this is book 3, so by this point I have to assume that most readers already know what we’re getting into with Bushido Online. All your favorite characters are back and the mystery drama and politics are still there in full force. As the title suggests this time around we spend most of our time in the wargames portion of Bushido Online, which is nice considering that we’ve been hearing about this part of the game more or less nonstop for the last couple of books and really only got a glimpse of what it would look like at the end of book to. My one issue with the book is that unlike in books 1 and 2 we spend very little time dealing with The realities and emotions that make this world so attractive to our main character. Those elements are there, but I feel like they are minimized in favor of the virtual world’s excitement and intrigue and for me this is a little disappointing. Lit RPG novels that focus on the game and the characters are a dime a dozen, ones that focus on the psychology of the gamer and give us good reasons why the game is more attractive than real life are rarer. So when I found that Bushido Online not only did this but did it very well, I was thrilled and I knew I had found something special.
Still, the characters are entertaining and fun to spend 600+ pages with, the world is fleshed out, the game is something I think we’d all very much like to play, and it’s exciting. I very much enjoyed my third trip back to this world and can’t wait to come back again whenever book 4 is released.
This series has grown from book to book, as soon as I saw it on the store I knew I wanted to read it and it did not disappoint. Characters at book 3 I have come to know and enjoy if not love. A plot that won't stop twisting until it makes my head spin, and heart pounding action all the way through. Watching Seiki grow is a delight throughout the series and for any gamer or lit-rpg fan this will not disappoint. Can't wait for the next one but this one was such a rush I am sure it will be getting a reread in the future.
Not going to lie this is honestly one of my most favorite series ever. I literally could not put the this book or series down once I started. The main character has so much depth to him. The action packed scenes in these books make me feel like I have a movie playing in my head. Also the amount of attention put into the settings/scenes is insane. I love the war games in this book and how the main character values the NPCs under his command. I’m a big fan on how the author hasn’t made the character OP. Also I cannot wait to see what the name sword will be. I really cannot think why this book does not deserve any thing other 10 stars out of 5. I have recommended the series to a some of my professors and friends. They only have good things to say about it but they wish there was some kind of romance in the series to make things more interesting. Which I couldn’t agree with them more. I wish there was a girl for the main character to fall in love with (a.k.a. A love interest). I feel like that would help fill out any emotional gaps in the main character’s character. I’m not saying there are any gaps to begin with but I think I just might help fill out the character even more than he is already. It might also serve as some sort of conflict in the story for the author to write about. Maybe the girl is kidnapped by one of the guilds/factions. Maybe she’s a spy for one the guilds (cough Ichikeya cough). Or having him just trying to figure out what relationship in the game/real life means to him considering his situations real life and in game. One problem I have is that there were some points in this book where I thought the main character did not have as much at stake as he did in the previous two books. The biggest problem I have with the series though is that I cannot possibly wait for the next book to come out!!!!!!!!!! I’ve literally been checking amazon almost daily to see if the next book is out after finishing this one. So please Nikita Thorn release the next book as soon as possible!!!

I give this book and other two five stars because I want and will read other two books again. As matter fact I was searching to read the first book again when I noticed third book was out. Once I got it I wouldn’t put it down until I finished it. Sadly I have wait till next book is written.
The Bushido books are great. The author is really skilled at just cramming a flowing story together. It's legit zero filler and nonstop plot, combat, character development, etc. Highly recommend.
Moved all of the plots forward and advanced the characters. Didn’t OP the main character, thankfully! The author didn’t cave in and put more OP equipment. So it’s an awesome book.
My really enjoy Seiki and Ippei’s relationship. I hope the author builds that up even more. They are two sides of a coin and I enjoy thier friendship. I want more. I also enjoy the slow formation of a their clan. I want the author to let it develop naturally and ensure the bonds feel legit.
What I don’t like, Seiki sometimes feels overpowered in his fights. What I really mean is the author doesn’t always let the reader believe he could loose. Don’t misunderstand I don’t want to see him loose but being a gamer it’s really hard for me to swallow the level discrepancies he goes up against. I did love how he handled the Rogami butcher. That was awesome!
Another small issue is how the author sometimes gets around her previously established game rules. I mostly let it go but their are times in this book where I did stop and say it was little weak.
Overall I’m addicted. I can’t wait for the next installment.
Ties together some good plotlines, adds some new ones.
Very enjoyable book, I've enjoyed this series overall. This book is great cause you learn more about the metaplot behind some of the events from the previous books, which is nice. You also are introduced to the major PVE events, which are pretty cool. I was a little sad that Seiki started skipping quest text, which happens to gamers, but his previous wonder and immersion was very chaming. I'm glad he still cares about his Master and that plotline, but hope he pays more attentionin the future to other plotlines. Progression is also as always a little funky, but I choose to ignore that where the plot is good enough, and I think it is here.
I'm glad that this is still rolling strong, not as heavy life elements as the previous editions of the book but Seiki is coping and has pretty much made peace with his blindness. This book focuses more on war game elements, the revolving hidden mysteries of the big clans, and even more Ronin plotline which seems almost tailor made for our main character and the decisions hes made so far. I cant wait for the audiobook and the fourth edition
Some bits of this book I found annoying but on the whole the world, characters and story are all pretty impressive. I especially like how there's a subtle undercurrent in the story. All the little links from previous books being put together by the MC to try and understand the bigger picture.
It's not high literature but is entertaining. I cut through it pretty quickly. Easily worth the price. This book seemed to address the real world issues facing the protagonist. I really like that. Some of the fighty bits lost me and I skimmed some of them. I would (still) like to read more philosophical discussion of bushido since it is the title...
This was a great third book. I can't wait for a fourth. However like the last book the author could stop here. The MC is in a much better place. However the action in the game is really getting exciting.
A bit more character building as Seiki starts to really come to terms with things. Great story in the game, tying up some loose ends and opening up new stories. Great book and series!!
Every time I read one of these books I am never disappointed. There are enough twists and turns to keep me interested mixed in with friendship and good doses of humor to keep a smile on my face. Very good read. The only downer is that I am unable to read the next one yet.;)>
I still enjoy the mystery aspect of these books. The addition of troops to the mix was interesting but i can't say added much to the story. Some good battles and tactics. Was a little slower read for me.
I really like this series, and this book does a great job of keeping the story going. The mc isn't op and the progress is still interesting. The war mechanic is cool too.
This series Bushido Online. Is definitely one of the best if not best LitRPG series I've ever read. The story of Seike and his friends is fantastic. With the characters lively and engrossing. While the setting is awesome and interesting.
We get to see more pieces of the big picture puzzle and more of the good in game lore. Really enjoyed it, the writing and plot just got better and better.
In this book the MC goes from Roleplay to Warplay and then this both kind of game merges. Nice character interaction and i like how the story evolves. Finally the world is different for different players.
This would be an amazing game to play if it existed! The strategy and scenarios in this novel are amazing. We are starting to see the bigger picture being pushed at us.
It might be slow paced compared to most LitRPG books, but the MC is well fleshed out, the rest of the cast slowly getting there, and most of the reason why things are happening makes sense.
I still have the same issues I had with the first two books, but I've dealt with that enjoyed the story being told. A very fun book, the best of the series so far. 👍🏾👍🏾
