Cath Kidston's cheerful approach to interior design has earned her international acclaim. Mixing the whimsical, the classic, and the nostalgic, shes created a completely fresh, signature style using vintage fabrics and prints. In this lavishly illustrated book, she shows just how easy and invigorating it is to use colorful patterns throughout the home. Grouped by fabric type, each chapter showcases Cath's own choice of vintage and modern fabricsfrom painterly florals and faded chintzes to cool abstracts and cozy patchworks. To help the reader achieve the look, shes included sixty simple do-it-yourself projects such as curtains, cushion covers, pillowcases, laundry bags, and more. Throughout, Cath shares practical tips on how to incorporate vibrant patterns into existing interiors along with brilliant ways to bring vintage prints up-to-date. Separate sections outline where to find vintage fabrics, how to spot quality, and how to master basic sewing techniques. With page after colorful page of inspiration, Cath Kidston's In Print brims with bright ideas to create an inviting home positively blooming with color.
Even if, like me, you don't have a lot of vintage fabric in your collection, there are still plenty of ideas here to use with any fabrics . . . like covering my hideous computer chair with a colorful pattern! Why didn't I ever think of doing that?
A beautiful book - high quality with stunning photos.
I love fun prints and cloths and this book highlights how you can use them. Not that I ever will, as I'm not very crafty or a sewer, but fun to look at all the same. One thing I might do is use cloth for giftwrap--or photocopy it on to paper, as suggested.
This has been on my shelf forever - but today I picked it up on a whim and found that apparently Cath Kidston is the 21st century's Laura Ashley. This is a delightful book full of wonderful ideas. Now I'm all inspired and can't wait to get crafting and sewing . . .
Thumbs up on the beautiful pictures of vintage fabric used throughout Cath Kidston's home; thumbs down on the project instructions & lack of interesting projects for this book.
