Rate this book
When the Flower Fairies hold a ball, they realize at the last moment they’ve forgotten the guest of honor! Kingcup suggests a new fairy–Wild Thyme. But how can they let her know in time? Cicely Mary Barker was the illustrator who created the famous Flower Fairies; those ethereal smiling children with butterfly wings. As a child she was influenced by the works of the illustrator Kate Greenaway, whom she assiduously copied in her formative years. Her principal influence, however, was the artwork of the Pre-Raphaelites.

Hum drum narrative used as a vehicle to explore the alluringly nostalgic, bewitching and beautifully drawn fairy world creations of this early English illustrator. Pretty book.

I liked it when the fairies cheered (they cheered when they made a magic trail to go to the garden).

Of the Flower Fairies books, this one is my 7yo's favorite. The story itself is cute, and I like how the pages have holes in it for the whispers to pass through.
