This was a great, action packed series. The first few chapters, we see a demon and a demon hunter. The demon is being asked to kill the demon hunter in an arrangement that would give his people what they've always wanted. Things don't exactly go as planned. Helena, the demon hunter, is not actually human. She's been lied to her entire life and the archangels aren't exactly the good guys. The demons aren't either, but there are good demons and bad demons. We see the son of Lucifer and the daughter of Lilith, who are both main characters and extremely likable. I can't wait for the rest of the series and hope we get to see their parents.

The book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, which I won't spoil, but there may be some hope for Helena with one of the archangels that shows up towards the end that might not be as twisted as Michael

I couldn't put this book down. A total page-turner that kept me wanting more. I love the sass that is Helena, she is awesome and Eric is amazing. Everything is turned topsy turvy and you can't help but feel that if Helena could, she would burn the world to the ground to make it as she thinks it should be and Eric would help her do it. The heat and sizzle between these two is breathtaking and I can't wait to read more about them.
You will want to pick this book up and buy the ones that follow too. I know I have. Why are you still reading this? Go get this book and start reading it!! Do it! Now!!

I fell in love with book. Oh man at times I wanted to pound on Eric but then every great story needs someone you love and hate, and hate to love.. that was Eric for me.
This story had me cheering and screaming at the characters. Some times I wondered how they could be so blind to what was in front of them. But that is what made this book so great.

So of the hardships struck home with me and I could feel as if I was part of this. I didn't want to put the book down. Its an amazing with such a great story line. I look forward to reading more of this series.

Amazing book from an amazingly talented author.

Helena is a character I root for, that I fell in love with, and that I kind of want to be. She is strong, in charge, passuonate, and determined, but she is also so vulnerable that I want good things for her. Maya Daniels is a fantastic, amazing, talwnted author. I want to read every single one of her stories. She writes real characters that you want to be friends with, and she writes worlds you can't help but visualize as your own.

If you haven't read her books, start right here!!

This is a book which hooks you from the start. I couldn't put it down once I'd flicked to the first page.

Told from Helena's pov only, it's easy to follow and enjoyable. The fast pace keeps you wanting more.
If you like demons and hunter stories this is the one for you.

There are plenty of twists and plots to keep you drooling for more. And, yes, it's a cliffhanger which leaves you wanting more.

The Devil is in the Details is the first book in the Broken Halos series, and we meet Eric and Helena (Hel). At first glance, they appear to be on opposing sides, but not everything is as it seems. Eric is a Demon, whereas Hel is a Hunter. When Eric is approached by one of Helena's bosses, with a kill order and a special deal for the Demons, he wonders what is going on. None of that matters once he sees Hel though, and he will do ANYTHING to protect her.

This was a fast-paced, fun-filled, frolic of a book. I loved Hel's sassy attitude, and I thought her grief over her best friend was incredibly written. She admits she just wants to wake up and owns her temper tantrums, apologising as necessary. Eric is the bad boy of the Demon world, and I loved him. There were two revelations about him, which shocked Hel both times. The first one I can understand, but the second? Surely if he is the first, the second is part of the same? (Trying so hard not to do spoilers here!!!)

This is an extremely well-written book that gives enough world-building for you to get to grips with their world, whilst still leaving more to come. This does end on a cliffhanger, so fair warning. A thoroughly enjoyable first instalment and I can't wait for the second. Absolutely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Firstly, thanks to Maya Daniels for writing a great book.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly, let's talk about this awesome cover! What a stunning cover that really draws you in and makes the reader really question what the story is about. It was an aptly chosen cover that really gives off the feel of the book.

What did I enjoy about the book? Well, it was a great story so let's start there. I really enjoyed following Eric and Helena's adventure throughout the book. The combination of these two powerful personalities was really entertaining and engaging and I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative between the two characters. The story progresses well and I found myself enjoying the adventure.

What didn't I enjoy about the book? I felt there could have been more to the story, as though it was rushed a little bit. I feel that Maya could have extended the book by a few chapters, and incorporated more of Eric and Helena.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Helena belongs to the order as a hunter who kills demons. All of a sudden hunters are being killed at an enormous rate! In one such attack, Helena loses someone close to her but gains a new and powerful ally, Eric. He is powerful but she does not know what he is! As things unravel, powerful beings want to destroy or use her. Eric just wants to protect her from all those who want to kill her. They go on the run…only to find themselves in the middle of a war and Helena gets kidnapped…to be continued! This book is about demons and angels. It is a fast paced enjoyable read! I read it in under two hours and was yelling because it ends in a cliff hanger! Now, I cannot wait for the next book in the series! Some snark and a steamy scene are included in the book. It is an awesome read that you will not want to miss! I received this book as a gift and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a great start to this series. I like it when the character has that sass. And Hel had it. It made the story better. I liked Eric. Even in those times.

Side note: Maya Daniels always delivers to her readers. I am looking forward to book 2.

I think I'm going to DNF this at 80% right now bc I'm not really having much fun reading.

Mostly bc I feel like the writing is YA with some sexy scenes thrown in.
If thats your jam go for it, but for me at this point I feel like I've outgrown some of the YA tropes going on in this book that make it more of a drag to read for me personally.

description

I mean the h is in her 20's but acts like she's in her teens, and all she can seem to think about is ooh hot boy and says things like "he gives me butterflies, is he single?, he's so handsome, he gives me a tingle in my belly" ect.
Also, of course there is a "slutty bitchy girl" who is automatically mean to the h bc she's likes the H- he even calls her a bitch in heat. yikes.

Just as the doors are about to close, uneasiness swirls in me when Loren waltzes in, glaring daggers at me. Her silky red blouse is molded to her breasts, and it looks like she unbuttoned a few buttons from the top.

Yes, because we really needed more of that kind of trope to show that the h is different from others girls and thus the H interest in her is more special.

description

And the way she calls him monster boy and he calls her cupcake makes me think teenage YA. But what really got me was that maybe three or more times she's in mortal danger, and instead of focusing on the lets not die aspect-all she can think about is how hot he is.

I mean her friend just died and she's surrounded by demons but when she first sees him all she can think is

The most stunning and intriguing man I have ever seen in my life is the one that has been guarding my back.

The Archangel is about to kill me anyway, so some part of me decides to check out the handsome guy’s ass, and of course it makes me jealous of his leather pants.

or she's surrounded by elite hunters and is about to be killed by an archangel and thinks

What an inappropriate time for warmth to gather between my thighs and butterflies to flutter in my stomach.

or she's in the middle of a car crash and says

There is a look of purpose on his face, and his eyes are amber again, making his handsome face so drool-worthy that I forget to be afraid. All I can think about is how much I want to kiss him and remove the frown pulling his eyebrows down.

no mas please.

Excellent read

The Devil is in the Details is a perfect start to the series. It’s gripping and fast past and a definite must read for lovers of angles/demons and all things paranormal.

We meet Helena: a sassy demon hunter blessed by the archangels themselves. Then theres Eric: a demon who was hired to kill her.

Helena and Eric are brought together due to a mission gone bad and things quickly take off from there.
The secrets and betrayal, the twist and turns.. add in the humor and steamy romance made this the perfect read for me

I really enjoyed it. I couldn’t put it down

Maya Daniels is a talented writer. The worlds and storylines are brilliant and unique. If you haven’t read any of her work I highly encourage you to do so.. Just a bit of warning though.. they’re quite addicting

While there were several typos, the story was enjoyable and the characters likeable. Eric was a little unlikable at times, but nothing that was a deal breaker. I look forward to the next installment.

Cliffhanger :(

I was really enjoying this story until it ended in a cliffhanger. I loved Helena, her character is great, and a Prince of Hell called Eric just made me want to giggle. The story was well written and interesting- but the cliffhanger annoyed me.

A great start to an awesome series!!
Helena (Hel) believes things are black and white in the world until she meets Eric. Yeah, sure he saved her life but he's one of the bad guys right?!
Hel begins to question everything she's been told to believe and starts to query the motives of those closest to her.
She is a strong, independent and sassy character but also vulnerable and loving, while Eric is full of power and passion ~ but he also happens to be a demon ~ Hel definitely had her hands full!!

I really enjoyed this book. I read it through my Kindle Unlimited. It is very well written has a great story line and great characters. Helena is a hunter and all of the sudden massive amounts of hunters are being killed. During an attack she looses someone close to her. But Eric may be a good ally to her but she doesn't know what he is. This book is fast paced and full of action. It does end in a cliff hanger. But it a really good book.

DNF @ 20%

I was so excited to read THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS but it just fell really flat for me. The writing was a bit stiff and awkward and the author used way too many exclamation points, like 5-6 on every page. Helena and her team came across like they were teenagers and even some of the other adult side characters felt overly dramatic.

I was already struggling with the writing when two things occurred that pushed me away from wanting to continue. The first is when Eric, the love interest, has a brief interaction with a receptionist and the author tries way too hard to make the receptionist "slutty" (in a negative way) for no apparent reason. And second the author again tried way too hard to emphasis that a possible villain character was fat. Every time he was mentioned in the chapter it included a reference to his size, even going as far as pointing out several times that he had "sausage fingers". So yeah, I'm not here for fat shaming or slut shaming as a way for the author to make the MCs look better.

Content Warning: fat shaming and slut shaming; graphic gore

DNF - quit at 42%
I don't know where the high reviews are coming from for this book. The blurb sounded good, but after getting to 42%, I don't think the blurb was accurate for the story. It stated "Because she is Heaven’s favorite...unless, she switches sides!" So why was archangel Michael saying she should have been killed at birth for being an abomination & trying to kill her before she escapes at the point I quit, if she were Heaven's favorite? I tried to appreciate this book, but too many things happening didn't line up for the plot to actually work. I just couldn't follow the story anymore. Starting with no world building to explain how this started (demons on earth and hunting them down). This just jumps in, so maybe I missed a prequel or this is a splinter off of another series, I don't know though. I didn't check to be certain, cause I just didn't care. If so, it should have been addressed or add to the world building to make it stand-alone. Also, the main character was not likable, at all. She made me mad and want to throw my iPad. She wasn't the kind of heroine I'd want to waste anymore time on reading about. The whole thing was a hot mess. A good content editor might have helped with sorting some of that out.

At my age, life is to short & my time to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

Helena is an hunter for the order that targets rogues. Helena and her team are sent to take care of the set of rogues, things turn strange. One of the rogue spoke to her with a cryptic message. Helena is thrown off by this. Again, they are sent to deal another set of rogues, it seems like they are trying to hurt her. Helena and her team are asked if anything strange has happened while out hunting rogues. Something is at work there and Helena doesn't know what. Even her team thinks there is more to it then what is being said.
They are told that even more hunters are dead or missing, they are going to a horde of rogues. The team knows that they are not like the elite teams. One person has Helena as a guard, they all disappear in their search. She feels something is off, her best friend is attacked in front of her. She is saved by a mystery man that she has an unexpected reaction to.
Helena is back at the Sanctuary, there is another man there. Helena loses her temper due to her grief over her friend. Turns out the mystery man is Archangel Michael. He delivers news that will forever change Helena's life and her views. When her life is again on the line, her mystery man saves her. Helena will fight what he trying to show her, but the proof will change her mind.

There is so much more to this story and some I didn't add. I am not spoiling this story. This an rollercoaster ride for the character. The twist and turns has you keep reading until the end. I love the characters in this book especially Helena and Eric. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I highly recommend reading this book, it is that good.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and voluntary review

The Devil is in the Details

Omg! This book is so good, it is fast moving, yet flows really well. Full of surprises and twists, it keeps you hooked from cover to cover. You'll love the main characters Helena and Eric, and the way they are. I'm with Eric's cousin, Maddison about the romance of it. I actually really feel for Helena, she needs someone to be able to sit done with her and explain things, but having someone constantly after means, she hasn't been given that luxury. So she is having to pick things up on the fly. Which results in a whip lash reaction, and a thought out one later on. Her poor emotions. Left with a cliff hanger in this book, which leaves you starving for more... on to book 2.

Just finished reading the first book in this series, and I know I’m going to enjoy the rest.
Helena is a Hunter, who has been trained all her life that demons or abominations are all evil and need to be killed.
Then she meets a demon named Eric and everything she thought she knew gets turned on it’s head.
Helena is a great character, she’s a badass Hunter, has some anger issues and plenty of sass.
Eric bring a fun dynamic to the story, and I just love the way he and Helena interact thought out the book.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book, following the cliff hanger at the end of this book.
