From Box Trolls director Graham Annable comes Peter & Sloths in the Night , an immensely charming new addition to his brilliant graphic novel series about the endearing friendship between two sloths.
Peter and Ernesto love the jungle, but they know how dangerous it can be at night. From clumsy bats to crazed owls to rumors of a dragon , there are countless things that make the darkness perilous for sloths.
That’s why, one day, when their friend Bernard goes missing just as the sun is setting, Peter and Ernesto quickly gather their tribe to form a search party. However, while these sloths have some sense of the dangers that they’ll face while looking for Bernard, there are surprises lurking in the shadows that will surpass their wildest imaginings!

This book was so creatively drawn and creatively written that I could not stop reading this. Peter and Ernesto is talked about throughout all of our library and now I see what the buzz is about. in Sloths in the Night, the clan is set out on an adventure to look for their friend Bernard. While searching, they come across a few characters but sense a few dangerous spots along the way. One thing after another trouble seems to find them making their time for finding Bernard minimizing. The search party continues with one catastrophe after another making the book more exciting. Our teen readers will love this book!
We will consider adding this title to our JGraphic Novel collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
Peter and Ernesto are on their third adventure! This time, their friend Bernard goes missing, possibly in search of a rumored dragon that lives in a nearby temple; it's getting dark, though, and the jungle is no place for a sloth to be at night, especially on his own. The friends head out on their own adventure to find Bernard, and possibly, the dragon, and meet a host of hilarious animals along the way.
The Peter and Ernesto books are adorable stories about friendship, embracing differences, and working together. They never disappoint, and are perfect for chapter book readers and middle graders who love a good animal or friendship story. Peter and Ernesto are like Bert and Ernie; Frog and Toad; George and Martha. They're friends who love one another, differences and all; they push one another outside their comfort zones (with hilarious, sweet results); they embrace all of their friends, together, and they are always thrilled to make new friends. Graham Annable's cheerful artwork is immediately recognizable: kids will know, as soon as this book shows up on shelves, that this is a new Peter and Ernesto story.
If you haven't had the fun of experiencing a Peter and Ernesto story yet, treat yourself.

I love the Peter and Ernesto series! They're a classic best-friends duo, like Bert and Ernie, Frog and Toad, or Elephant and Piggie. In this volume they're joined by a few more friends, sloths and otherwise, and venture yet again beyond their tree, in search of a missing friend and a DRAGON.
This is one of my favorite graphic novels to hand to kids who are still building their confidence at reading-- it's longer than most easy readers, making it feel like an accomplishment to finish, but still has the built-in delights of large, expressive pictures and few panels on a page. Kids who resist picking up a chapter book on their own will more willingly try this, and often read it in a sitting or two. My chapter book book club gobbled up the first in the series and asked for more, and this volume definitely delivers.
This is the third installment of this completely adorable easy graphic novel about two sloth friends. Peter and Ernesto, along with the sloth-y denizens from their home tree, travel by night to find their lost friend Bernard. He may be in the temple by the river, where, it is rumored, there is a dragon. The group of sloths meets various animals along the way – a bat, an owl, a group of frogs – and end up getting split up when Peter falls from a zip line. But they all meet up, along with the dragon, which is a Komodo dragon named Camila, at the temple, only to find that Bernard is not there. Upon returning to their tree, there is Bernard waiting for them. Vivid digital art in square panels which are heavily outlined in black, on the white page, emphasize the nocturnal setting. The sloths are simple, large eyed creatures in different colors, with great expressions. The kind, friendly relationships between all of the animals is so sweet and refreshing. I love this series!
Peter and Ernesto are the best of friends. As they set out on an adventure to find their friend Bernard, they learn lessons on bravery, commitment to a cause, accepting our differences, helping others, and that it is okay to not always be right. The also find themselves in some fun scenarios like going through a dark forest at night and meeting a dragon!
I read this book with my 7 and 10 year old boys and we all loved it! This is a graphic novel that was at the perfect level for my first grader (2nd grade reading level). We each took on the role of different characters and took turns reading. My first grader only needed help with 2 or 3 words. He really enjoyed the book and gives it one million stars 🤣
The illustrations were fantastic and supported the content very well without being too busy.
Thank you Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this book for us!
These funky sloths are at it again. This time brave Ernesto is excited to go to the old temple and meet a mysterious and possibly magical dragon, but Peter has noticed that Bernard is missing. They set off on an adventure along with their fellow sloths, although apparently with very different motivations. It gets dark. The jungle is dangerous at night, but there are many creatures that the sloths never would have met if they hadn't ventured out. Perhaps with a bit of friendliness and a silly song, they'll find their friend and discover the truth about the dragon.
Ah, Peter and Ernesto never fail to bring a smile to my face. This silly story is ideal for emerging readers. The art is simple but has enough detail to pack in some excellent emotions. I love these stories and I can't wait to read more.
Bernard is missing so Ernesto starts off into the jungle - AT NIGHT - with his other sloth friends to find Bernard. Ernesto believes that Bernard has gone to the ancient temple to see the fire-breathing dragon. Peter thinks this is all a bad idea. When Peter gets separated from the group, he meets a friendly otter who has built a boat and joins him to sail down river, which will bring him to the temple. Meanwhile, Ernesto and the others reach the temple, only to find that Bernard is NOT there and the dragon is only a regular komodo dragon - no breathing fire. Peter is reunited with his friends at the temple, the komodo dragon climbs aboard the boat for a ride home, and the sloths return to their tree home only to find Bernard anxiously awaiting their arrival.
Aww, another adorable Peter and Ernesto tale! On this adventure, one of the others goes missing! Ernesto suspects Bernard as gone to see a dragon that supposedly lives in a nearby temple. It's getting dark, and the jungle is no place for a sloth to be alone at night, so off they go to find the temple, the dragon, and hopefully, Bernard! I love that Annable still maintains and highlights the differences between Peter and Ernesto but shows them continuing to be the best of friends. The lessons taught in this series are all very easy for younger children to understand. Delightful!
Thanks to First Second and NetGalley for the eArc.
For middle elementary readers, this graphic novel is a great fantasy story with anthropomorphic animals on an adventure. Although it’s the third book in a series, it is a standalone story with a quest to find a missing friend introduced at the beginning and a happy, humorous reunion at the end. The exciting, funny plot is told in large-font, brief dialogue bubbles in framed panels, making it a great introductory graphic novel. Friendship is a major theme throughout the story as the sloths encourage each other to face their fears, apologize and forgive each other when things go wrong, and comfort new friends as well.
I liked this better than the second one but not as much as the first. The first used its plot to build the characters. With that firmly in hand, I don’t know that their subsequent stories are that compelling. Certainly, they do not, I think, leverage Peter and Ernesto’s odd couple-ness enough, which is what allowed Elephant and Piggie to have so much longevity. I am also reminded of my primary beef with the 4th Indiana Jones movie, which I thought fell apart as the group grew to Tolkien-esque numbers. Indiana Jones works when he is, at most, plus one. Peter and Ernesto as well.
Peter and Ernesto can't find their friend, Bernard, so they ensemble a group to go look for him. The only trouble is, it is nighttime, in the jungle, which in itself could prove quite dangerous, but now there are also rumours of a dragon in the area. The characters of Peter and Ernesto shine throughout the story, and children will love and the graphic novel format. The sloths come across several different animals during their search, but children will be so caught up in the story, they won't even realize they are learning real facts and details about these animals.
In Peter & Ernesto: Sloths in the Night, Peter, Ernesto, and their sloth friends set out on a rescue mission when Bernard goes missing! But the jungle is a scary place at night and when our heroes become separated it will take a lot of courage and a little bit of help from some other animal friends to reunite them. And yet, there is still the problem of the missing Bernard!
I love these silly little sloth friends and can't wait to start recommending them to every kid I know that loves graphic novels or needs a good read.
Ahhhh. This early graphic novel is sooooo cute. Ernesto built a wind sock from some fabric Bernard gave him. But when he is ready to show it off, no one can find Bernard. So the hunt is on. Peter, Ernesto, and all their friends embark on a journey to find Bernard, and the new all powerful dragon. It will be a night full of fun and just a hint of danger. This is such a heartwarming story that is easy to grasp for young readers, or easy to read aloud for those not reading yet.
The Peter and Ernesto series is absolutely loved by my students and my own children. So when the chance to get an ARC of book three came along, I jumped on it. We were not disappointed. This is another awesome heartfelt story that appeals just as much to my three-year-old as it does to my nine-year-old. It’s sweet, funny, and I won’t be able to keep it on my library shelves (when we eventually get back in there). Graphic novel. Simple, accessible language. Highly recommended.
This book is so cute! Just some silly sloths having a fun adventure! Great for readers of any age! It's book 3, but you honestly don't need to read the first two to be able to follow what's going on.
By the artist who did the art for Puzzle Agent and the animatics for ParaNorman, if you've seen those.

children's graphic novel - sloth friends have an adventure I liked this, but the personalities of ernesto (adventurous) and peter (less adventurous), and the ways in which they complement each other as friends, shine much better in their introductory first volume. Still, a great series for kids who love comics and an easy title to recommend.
Peter and Ernesto is a wonderfully silly graphic novel series. My kids look forward to new episodes. Sloths in the Night is a great expedition of finding lost friends and all the adventures the sloth crew goes on while looking for one another. The humor and mystery in the book was entertaining and typical of the series.
Elementary graphic novel. This is a cute story , and adventure story of a group of sloth friends who venture out to find a lost friend. On the way there are adventures and discoveries abundant. Peter and Ernesto both discover a new way to understand each other and celebrate their differences. Wonderfully done for this age group! Highly recommend this series.
This is a fun graphic novel series that will keep kids laughing, and which they will read repeatedly. With often-sly humor, Sloths in the Night features Peter &Ernesto searching for a missing friend, along with their other sloth friends. There are fun plot twists and turns, and young readers will be drawn to this clever, funny tale.
Love Peter and Ernesto but the artwork was weirdly blurry on the edges. I don’t remember it being that way before. shrug.
A super cute story about Peter, Ernesto, and their friends who go searching for a missing friend. They make a few friends along the way, and there is a sweet, tidy ending as always.
The dark can be scary. Peter, Ernesto and friends get through it together.
The only thing that bugs me is why there is only one girl sloth, and all the others are boy sloths. This is a predominant feature in children’s picture books. Even in award winning television programs like Sesame Street, all the main characters are boys. No wonder we have a problem with sexism
A cute graphic novel great for 3-4th graders and beginning chapter book readers. The story is pretty simple, mostly dialogue. The illustrations are totally adorable.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC! All opinions are my own.

This is the first time I've read Peter & Ernesto's adventures! I absolutely could not put it down - I read this whole graphic novel in one sitting. I love throughout their adventure to find Bernard how the friends embrace each other's differences and show that it's totally fine to be wrong!
This is perfect for chapter book readers and middle graders who love a good animal or friendship story.
This is an adorable graphic novel. Peter and Ernesto are on a quest to find a dragon and their missing friend Bernard. They encounter all sorts of potentially scary, but ultimately awesome, situations. The elementary crowd will love this!
I had just found the second book in this series yesterday at work and I read it quickly! Then today while going through another book order, I found this right on top! It was like Christmas I love these sloths
Peter and Ernesto's journey through the jungle at night is just great. Two sloths face adversity with love and friendship. I love these guys, each book in the series is wonderful. Read this if you need a little happiness in your life.
This is a story about friendship and loyalty. One of the sloth went missing and the whole gang ventures out in the night to find their missing friend. While the other volumes were very joyful, this one had me feeling a little sad at times. And that was how it earned the last star.
Another excellent book in an excellent series. I continue to love the art and writing! I especially loved when they reached the really dark area (can't remember what it is called just now) the panels were just black. It made me chuckle.
