My So-Called All the Feels is the third book in a heartwarming middle-grade series about a girl whose emotions turn into uncontrollable superpowers.
Veronica’s powers have taught her a lot―about her family, her friends, and how to be herself. They’ve also literally rained on her parade, turned her green with jealousy, and set her school on fire. You win some, you lose some.
Now Veronica’s finally figuring out how to control her superpowers. But then she discovers there might be a way to get rid of them forever―and to live a “normal” life.
Featuring ten black-and-white illustrations by Simini Blocker, All the Feels raises the stakes for this middle-school girl who has to decide if being “normal” is as fun as going on a roller-coaster ride of superpowered emotion.

Praise for My So-Called Superpowers :
“Heather Nuhfer has hilariously and achingly captured what it’s like to be in middle school, trying to control the weird things that make you different but also super. It’s impossible not to root for Veronica. Super real, super fun, and just generally and genuinely super .” ―Dana Simpson, New York Times –bestselling author of the Phoebe and Her Unicorn series
“ My So-Called Superpowers is vibrant, lively, and hums along at a snappy pace. It has a genuinely warm , welcoming Saturday-morning cartoon feeling to it.”―Tony Cliff, New York Times –bestselling author of the Delilah Dirk series
Veronica McGowan is not like other middle schoolers. Sometimes, when her emotions get too strong, they begin to manifest in a physical way. Excitement might be seen as small happy explosions coming from her hands, like her own private fireworks show. While she has mixed feelings about the occasions that this happens her best friend Charlie calls them superpowers and is always excited to see it happening.
Veronica’s dad, like Charlie, is proud of Veronica and loves her for her superpowers. And while she loves him for being so supportive, and she’s excited about his upcoming wedding to her guidance counselor Ms. Watson, Veronica also wants her mother to be a part of her life. But her mother is not as supportive of her powers, so Veronica is torn between who to be. Does she stay her strange self with unexpected incidents (like when the big green bubble of her jealousy accidentally slimed the school principal)? Or does she try to suppress her superpowers and be a normal middle school kid with two parents engaged in raising her?
And while Veronica is trying to decide all this, she also has to deal with the fact that her best friend Charlie has fallen into like for her previous enemy, now friend, Betsy. And she’s been asked to be both the maid of honor and best man in her father’s wedding, so she has extra wedding duties keeping her busy. Will she be able to get through it all without another episode, or will it all cause a huge meltdown?
My So-Called Superpowers: All the Feels is the third in this series, and it is utterly charming! I adored this book from the first word to the last. I think it would be a great read for middle schoolers who are trying to understand and talk about their feelings, or for anyone of any age who has struggled with their feelings too. Reading this book made my week, and I can’t wait for more books in this series! Author Heather Nuhfer has nailed it!

Middle schooler Veronica has mixed emotions about her superpowers and has learned to control them for the most part. Still, there are times when she becomes quite emotional, and they cause her great embarrassment since they literally cause her body or the things around her to reflect those emotions. When the parents of her best friend Charlie come up with a pill that will get rid of those superpowers, Veronica is quick to take advantage of their hope, mostly because she longs to reconnect with her mother, who wants nothing to do with a daughter with what she considers to be a disability. But theirs is not a relationship built on the strongest foundation, and Charlie and Betsy, another friend, are leery of the renewed connection. Meanwhile, Veronica is struggling with the impending marriage of her father and Ms. Watson, the school counselor, since she isn't sure where she will fit in their new relationship. She's further bothered by her own reactions to the increased closeness between Charlie and Betsy, eventually realizing that she is jealous of their relationship and possibly crushing on Charlie herself. This is a highly relatable, entertaining read that will enchant many middle grade readers struggling with their own volatile emotions and trying to sort out all the feels. The illustrations complement the story nicely and add to its appeal as the illustrator has depicted several crucial scenes.

Life is changing for Veronica with new friends, distance growing between old friends, and her dad’s upcoming wedding -- plus she still hasn’t completely gotten the hang of her “stupidpowers.” With everything about her life shifting, does Veronica not fit in her home anymore? What can she do?
This is the third book in a series, but I read it without the prequels and still felt that I understood what was going on. I love the idea of Veronica’s powers that display her emotions in a real and noticeable way because readers can then look at their lives and better identify what is causing their emotions. Reading some of Veronica’s poor choices was hard, but seeing how everything worked out in the end is a good reminder that our embarrassing and bad choices can be made right. Even if things look hard now, things won’t stay that way.
