526 pages. I wish it were 5260! If it were 5260 I'd have not felt that something was missing...
I repeat myself, after my review of the first book, but I loved everything in this book as well. I enjoyed every aspect of the story and the new characters were a great addition... Bai Luo Yin's conversations with his wing commander were, by far, my favorite part of this second book. And I loved every scene. From the cutest police officer, to the scene with the sunglasses (poor Gu Yang lol), to that scene with "Uncle Gu Hai"... Hilarious!
Yu Qi and Yang Meng are the second sweetest thing in this novel , especially in this second book even if they weren't very present... Yu Qi didn't appear until the middle of the story, and Yang Meng is such a cutie pie, I loved the way the author created and developped the character in both books, not female-like, just feminine and downright adorable!
And what to say about Gu Yang? I grew fond of that jerk!
The people who chose not to read this book 2 because of Gu Hai's behavior in book 1 are really missing an occasion to discover another Gu Hai and another Bai Luo Yin... two MCs like you have never seen them in book 1... though habit being a second nature... they can't just forget about their antics!
My only regret is the ending, this story deserved a better last chapter than the one we got. That's the only thing I'd pinpoint but I won't lower my rating because my 5 stars ratings are meant for the books that make me live things and Addicted did just that.
So, to answer the author's question: Yes, Miss Jidan. I am forever addicted.
One of the best. I fell in love with HaiLuoyin. I've put their relationship to a pedestal and a benchmark to my own. Reading the novel helped my partner and I to reinvent ourselves and become more passionate :) I will be forever grateful to the author. Not to mention, I love Xu Weizhou (Bai Luoyin) and Huang Jingyu (Gu Hai). Been following their careers after the tragic incident of the series.
I encourage you to read it. It will open your eyes to a new level of sacrifice, love, passion and relationship.
I'm halfway through this book and I'm slowly reading it because I got too attached. What will I do after this? Even in my dreams Gu Hai and Bai Luo Yin appears. I'll admit the book 1 was a bit of a meh for me, although I loved it - there were some parts I really didn't agree with but this is book 2 we're talking about. Perhaps they've learned their lesson from their youth and started to take matters rather seriously so if you're someone like me who didn't really fancy book 1 - book 2 will surely win your heart.
i feel like this was way less complicated then the first novel, i still had my reservations about certain plots in this but overall i can’t believe that i enjoyed myself this much. i know this will undoubtably cause some backlash but i just really liked seeing them grown up and seeing them back together was especially awesome to see.
Gu Hai and Bai Luo Yin is now a part of my life. Their love story is UNRIVALED even after reading all these books. I could never measure how much I've grown to love this story. I could never be more thankful to the author for giving us such a beautiful story. I love it so much. So much that my life feels empty now after reading the two books. I SWEAR IT UPON MY LIFE THAT IF I CANNOT FIND A PHYSICAL COPY OF THESE NOVELS, I'M GONNA DEDICATE TIME TO MAKE MY OWN.
Thank you Timmy Xu and Johnny Huang for being the perfect embodiment of these two great characters. The Chinese Drama may not and will never be complete, but in my heart, as I've read the novel, you were the perfect casts. I hope that this story will get the chance to be retold in bug screen soon. I'll give everything I can to see it happen.♥️
Rating: 5/5- one of my first and most memorable modern day BL novels that I will re-read, even though it’s unrealistic and had many very unhealthy situations.
I love this novel, not for its many far fetched scenes, ludicrous scenes or exemplary smutty scenes, but mostly for how unrealistic and dedicated it is to its plot line. Which in my opinion, is about showing how wonderful and s*upid love can be. It’s a work of fiction so far away from reality that it makes it enjoyable. (Realistically, this plot would land people in jail and a mental institution. I did not approve of many of the scenes in real life situations, but this is fiction and my opinion below is based solely on that).
Both the MC and ML are just a couple of lovesick idiots but that idiocy and over the top romance made this story really enjoyable for me. If you’re expecting some kind of critically acclaimed plot, you will disappoint yourself. Instead you’re going to find some incredibly crazy and sometimes unbelievable interactions, some completely unacceptable whilst others are far fetched and beautiful in their utter foolishness.
What drove me to love this novel was how much I liked both characters. They aren’t actually very likeable at all but I loved how the author wrote and developed them. I think one reads due to personal preferences and expands tastes based on literature related experiences.
This was an experience I thoroughly enjoyed, based solely on feeling.
As with book one, I stuck with a Wattpad translation. Thus, similar if not the same criticisms apply. But granted, I wouldn't be reading it if I didn't find it entertaining.
This is the first time I read a Chinese M/M novel. I had read a few American M/M novels before realizing its genre was not gay/queer (for which I am after). As expected, it has many BL tropes that aren't seen in gay-themed novels. I am surprised the intended Chinese readers would like these tropes, some of which also appeal to gay readers. While I didn't particularly enjoy reading it because of the fantasy tropes, I was particularly drawn by the author's use of Chinese culture (norms and beliefs). So compared to western M/M genre, it is similar with added Chinese culture. If it were not for the Chinese social norms, values, and beliefs in it, I would not have read an M/M novel on my own. (According to available data, I belong to the estimated and distinct 2.7% of the readers reading Danmei).
Re-read for the epilogue and one certain scene that involves uniform if you know what I mean. Did not disappoint as expected. The epilogue got me so proud for them. My babies...
