Engineered Rebel #4
Reconnect
Alex started this fight after being torn from the Angel she fell in love with, but what happens when they're reunited?
Angels don't lead peaceful lives and Alex soon finds herself pulled into an adventure with apocalyptic stakes as the rest of the rebels try to figure out their own places in the fight with her gone.
Is the rebellion ready to stand on its own without Alex, or will they crumble under the stress of the one fight they were never trained for?
RECONNECT is the fourth book in the Engineered Rebel sci-fi/urban fantasy series about genetically engineered assassins born to fight magic, who instead turn on their creators for the sake of their freedom.

About the author
L.C. Mawson
101 books248 followersSome say she's an ancient creature of nightmare that was unleashed from beneath the ocean, come to devour the souls of men. Others say that she's a cosmic being from the beyond the stars that has taken corporeal form to learn our ways for some unknown end...
In truth, L.C. Mawson lives in a tower in the middle of a haunted forest, far from civilisation and is definitely not a witch who curses those who trespass upon her land. And she definitely cannot turn into a dragon that flies over cities in the dead of night and whose cries are often mistaken for an approaching storm. Where did you hear that? That's absurd...
The only contact she has with humanity is publishing books every so often, which is definitely just for fun and not part of an ancient contract with a trickster god.

This is book four of the Engineered Rebel series and sees Alex still leading her small group of free (rebel) Enhanced against those in charge of the main Enhanced force who are hunting them down. Alex and her group have tried to free others who want to leave and especially those that are their pod sisters and brothers. You get to learn more about all the other pairings that have developed as the books have progressed and also the strengthening of Alex’s own bond on the outside. She still loves Freya, but believes she will never see her again.
She was wrong! This story involves a lot about Alex being attacked in an ambush and nearly dying. The only way to save her was to take her to the Underworld and there she meets Freya again. Freya soon has to deal with the death of her father, who she has been kept separate from for all her life, due to her mother changing the timeline shortly after she was born. She has only been with her father for one short year and has a lot to learn. She is now the Dark Angel and Demon Queen to be, once formalities are dealt with. That’s presuming Uther doesn’t have his hand in the mix.
Alex has to stay and help Freya as they find Pandora’s Box has been opened on Earth and they have to find a way to close it again. This leaves the rebel group without a real leader and not knowing where to go and what to do. They thought Alex would be back in days and decisions could wait, but now it will be longer. Can they survive without her leadership or will they fall and crumble? Some are overeager to take the fight to the Enhanced base and could end up hurting themselves and others. The latest ambush has left the group with a second in command that doesn’t want to be a leader and others that are following their own agenda. They also have all the young kids they rescued to think of as well.
Another great tale in the Freya Snow/Engineered Rebels universe, mostly focusing on the reunion of Freya and Alex and a mayor problem that has been unleashed on Earth. All of these books are great to read and always bring you more understanding of the worlds they are all living in and the trials they all face. The fact that magic, demons, enhanced and other beings could become common knowledge to all humans, is in their hands and could bring them all great danger. The books all interlink with the authors other series’:– Freya Snow; The Royal Cleaners; The Enhanced Rebels, even the Aspects and Almosts series.
An enjoyable read and one to be loved as much as the rest in the series’ by the author and which I’m sure anyone that has become hooked on them will agree. The characters are odd, unusual, some have disabilities, some have different gender identities, some just need to believe in themselves more, but they all come together to form a family group who look out for each other and fight against evil wherever they can. I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Reconnect - a review by Rosemary Kenny
Things in the Underworld, like those in the upper world are never straightforward...Alex's girlfriend Freya, having returned to the Underworld at the behest of her parents, the King and Queen, has met and married Damon, a half-human demon son of Uther, the Royal family's enemy. Now as the new Queen, following the death of her beloved father, the pregnant Freya has to make a serious sacrifice to close Pandora's Box that Uther has opened on Earth, releasing many deadly threats.
Will Freya trust in the powers of her ancestor Amber, a witch, to save herself and her unborn baby - or will tragedy follow her sacrifice?
How can Alex help save humanity? What is Uther's evil purpose in opening the box? Who is Jan and how are she and Alex connected?
A clever interweaving of family feuds and love stories with a believably thrilling cast of well-developed characters that become more engaging with each consecutive novel in the series. More please Ms Lawson!

I adore Alex, the kick-a** heroine of L.C. Mawson’s Engineered Rebel series. Now she’s back, in Reconnect (Book 4) and it’s a worthy successor to its series sisters. Perfectly told, full of excitement and adventure yet with characters that are totally genuine. Truly great stuff. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

Engaging read
I found this book to be a bit harder to get into than the previous books. It’s a lot longer which isn’t a bad thing. But once you do get engaged in it it’s a really fast read. It did pretty much feel like book 13 of the Freya snow series but from Alex’s perspective which is suppose is what these side series are but it felt a lot more so than usual

A bit longer than previous books in the series. It concentrates more on Alex then the rest of the rebel Enhanced but it also ties in more with the Snowverse series. The good news is you don't have to read the Snowverse(Freya Snow) series to enjoy it.A good read and nicely paced.
