A waste of time

There was so much redundancy and unnecessary filler in here that I began learning to "speed read" or even skip large chunks of the text just because it had been said so much. It was written like a high school (or junior high?) essay where the student was trying to make word count so kept repeating themselves over and over. Not only that, many of the assumptions about why someone might not be a speed reader are wrong, in my opinion. I could have done without the links to buy the paperback at the end of every chapter, too. I can't figure out if this was written by someone whose first language was not English or maybe an AI. The useful, relevant information in here could have fit into a 1500-word blog post, and I'm wishing I would have used my search engine to find one instead of buying this book. Learn from my mistakes and do that yourself.

For me it felt like there was a while book of words, without actually saying a great deal nor giving any speed reading exercises. The myth section was the bad things people saying about speed reading, of of which was really the same thing. The benefits of speed reading section, again a couple that could be compiled together and considered duplicates, mainly the opposite of the myth section but strung out. Preparation of Speed Reading is more or less the same thing as what you've just read from the start and a couple of useful tips. Different Exercises for Speed reading sounds good, but its just gym exercises for the eyes, rather than practical reading drills. Comprehension is just drawn out from the benefits of speeding reading section, so nothing new or deeper than what's explained. The next section suggests apps and websites that can help, which is useful and worth exploring. Felt like it went back to the rinse and repeat of above. For me, the gym eye exercises were useful, along with some of the app suggestions but beyond that not much value and would suggest looking else where to learn how to speed read. This book wasn't anything I expected. I suppose I wanted to improve my learning ability. However, I found this book somewhat repetitive. Honestly, most of the techniques listed I have been using for decades. Perhaps, I wasn't the intended audience for this book. However, I can see someone benefitting from some of the techniques if they had previously limited exposure to them. This book didn't serve my purposes, but that doesn't make it a total waste for everyone.

Good reminders - but not enough detailed steps

Very good reminder of steps learned from other books that I read years ago, but it doesn't seem to have the detailed steps of "how" to speed read.
Lots of good advice on bad habits you need to break, and what speed reading "isn't", but not as much practical application.

Nothing new. Same old thing. You can find the same data even accumulated all over the Internet and youtube. I read about the review before and though, great... something new. Alas. Send that it was copied nicely from others.

Helpful but needs work

This would be an okay book for someone who wants to start learning about speed reading, but it was extremely repetitive. There were also several strange or incorrect word choices within the text.

Good information

An easy to read and ‘digest’ book with insightful information.
Very realistic, avoiding the creation of false expectations, provides useful details enlightening the reader in a clear manner.

An ok book book, and actually a good one to try some of the techniques out on!

I found the content good, in terms of the why, but it lacked depth and instruction as to the how. I felt this could have been covered earlier and more extensively, backed up with some examples to work through.
