Holly Webb is one of Britain's best-loved children's writers. She has written over a hundred books for children, and her work has been translated into over thirty languages. Holly lives in Tilehurst, just outside of Reading, Berkshire, with her husband, three children and several cats.
Flower is a special young kitten, she's deaf and needs to be an indoor cat to keep her safe from the harm she can't sense as easily. But there's so much to explore and it's so easy for a curious kitten to make an unnoticed escape with the unwitting help of a family member. A very good and realistic showing of the challenges of keeping an active cat safe and the concerns that might not be apparent at first thought or glance. There is good information on providing stimulation for indoor, lively pets and great tips on how to care for and provide a happy life for a deaf cat, and how you can use those unique methods to help bring a missing cat home. An informative read for children with pets at home, or who want to have pets in their home.
I think I love the book. It was a bit heartbreaking but I think it was worth it to read. It’s nice that you put a bit of like a few facts in because I never knew that white kittens with blue eyes were more likely to be deaf so I think that was a bit nice and I think that was a nice name flower anyway Holly Webb I am I don’t know how to explain it I love your books and I love how you put expression and like lots of good names and I think it chapters is pretty good so thank you and that’s my report
I like this book because I love tiny kittens but I would like to have a dog . The best part is when the kitten's owners name her Biscuit because I think that name is cute like her, but, I feel really sorry that she needs to be deaf. Deaf cats are indoor cats so that means that she has to stay in the house with one of her owners.
A deaf kitten is the perfect kitten for Abi and her family. Cute illustrations randomly throughout the book. Mention is made of Flower, the kitten, using reverberations and the sense of smell.

A nice, simple book for young readers. This was better then the usual standard of chapter books for early readers, the plot was simple but made sense and it educates the reader about how to look after deaf kittens. I read this with my seven year old daughter. She enjoyed the book, but didn’t like the choice of name for the kitten.
Abi is so happy when her family finally agrees to get a cat but she is extremely sad when they find out that their road is too busy. But then they adopt a deaf kitten who has to stay indoors. Abi names her Flower but one day Flower gets lost. Will they ever find her? Good book
I really enjoyed this book because it's about a deaf cat who finds an owner on a busy street and is an indoor cat but manages to slip out can she get back home

5 star rating from my 8-year-old. She loved that it was about a cat and two sisters. This is a super cute little series, and all the books stand alone so you don't have to read them in order.
In this cute and heart-warming kids' story written by Holly Webb, the "perfect kitten" is in fact a deaf one, whose only chance appears to be forever living indoors, far away from the dangers of the outside world (for obvious reasons).
As a matter of fact, Abi's family is living on an extremely busy street, therefore life would be rather difficult for an ordinary cat that they are unsuccessfully trying to adopt. Except for one that must be only living inside! I guess thing get rather obvious from here on, but apart from the usual happy-ending of some sort, expect no less that a lot of sadness, tension, a missing kitten and a very, very effective way of leading it back home...
I really liked the educational aspect of this story, the way in which the kids learn to accept and get along with a special-needs pet and the way in which Abi uses her knowledge in order to help the little cat return by their side and under their protective roof.

I loved the fact that the main character had a stepdad and that the kitten couldn't hear. Little details like that make me feel more immersed in the story.
