Triumvirate Technologies is under attack. Murder and arson keep the business owners on edge. A government audit adds to the angst. Further turmoil weighs down the business leaders when a junior executive proposes an absurd – and illegal – bet: he will get rid of the auditors within two weeks in exchange for leadership of the business. As the business crumbles, the police reach their own stunning conclusion about the identity and motive of the murderer.Someone is waging death and destruction against Triumvirate Technologies. The over/under on survival is not favorable.Wager of Death, a psychological thriller from the mind of Brian W. Peterson.
Brian W. Peterson was born and raised in Missouri and now resides in Kansas with his wife, Mindy.
His overactive imagination led to a fascination with writing. Throughout his childhood, he would imagine bad and weird things happening to him and those around him, then he would write down the best ideas, which later served as story ideas. His first novel, the sci-fi adventure "Children of the Sun," reflects that imagination.
Because of his intense dreams, the psychological thriller "Dead Dreams" came to life. His third novel, "Wager of Death," reflects his fascination with having characters who mentally and emotionally spiral out of control due to fear, paranoia, or severe stress.
For his fourth novel, Paper Doll, published in late July 2021, Brian's Scandinavian heritage comes to the fore. The novel is a true story--creative non-fiction--about his grandfather and two uncles coming of age during the Great Depression and World War II.

This psychological thriller had me from the acknowledgment page till the end. I have to say this is one of the best mystery books I have read. The story is complicatedly delightful and shocking. The story is so twisted that I didn’t actually want the book to finish (it’s that good). I would recommend this book to anyone who loves psyche thrillers. Also, I am giving Brian W. Peterson 10 extra stars for his easy to read writing style, I loved it! it kept me hooked and guessing.
Brian W. Peterson says that intense dreams and an overactive imagination compelled him to write. Certainly, his latest novel - Wager of Death - would suggest that; not that the theme is outside the realm of possibility. Though, for me, the story unfolded slowly. By the end, it was a balancing act between psychological thriller and horror but that could be because I like tidy endings. You should judge for yourself. Thank you to Booktasters for facilitating a free book for a fair review.
This suspenseful thriller will have you at the edge of your seats demonstrating how someone's sanity can be so easily compromised under the right manipulations. In times like these, you only hope that someone believes you when you start doubting yourself as Peterson puts the psycho in psychological thriller.
Review originally posted at kittylishareviews.blogspot.com. Walt, Bill, and Alex have built a large company that is on the rise with the help of their long-time friend and lawyer, Tony. Together they have created Triumvirate Technologies. They are even starting to bring in newer young partners to their company while they prepare to begin a contract with the Department of Defense. Everything was looking up for them, until Bill came in one morning concerned about the death of another Won Yoo in the general area.
Since that day all of Walt's friends were dying and the young partner they have brought in has tricked him into an illegal bet for his company---and possibly more. Even his own daughter has turned on him. With his deadline to commit suicide approaching quickly can Walt find out who has murdered his friends and save his company?
This book will capture you from the first murder and keep you wondering until the last chapter. Whatever ideas you think you have about who the murderer is, hold them close, but don't stop reading. This book is twisted and realistic. There is nothing in this book that could not happen and that is what makes it all the more scary. I can honestly say that I completely enjoyed this book and would suggest it to anyone with a love of murder, mystery, and sabotage. The way Brian Peterson is able to spin this physiological thriller will have you bouncing on who you think the murderer is even towards the end of the book.
I was given a copy to review this book. The opinion is purely mine and I write what think of the story.
4/5 stars for a fantastic book that took me a little to enjoy, but I couldn´t stop Reading it after I got more interested in the story. The characters are the main reason Iended up loving this books. They are so well developed and gave me a few surprises throughout the story. I wishd the ending was a bit longer, because It was too abrupt for my taste. Still, the books is so Good I Will recommend it
It starts with the three owners of a company expecting a huge contract with the DOD. They hired Dennis Fry, who Will become a very important character and become a part of Walt´s life. Walter Musgrave sees in horror how his partners are murdered, and his company in grave danger while a psucopath plays games with him.
I won´t tell you anything more, you need to read it yourselves. It was a rollercoaster and I enjoyed the ride a lot. The author managed to give the story a push to make it different from other stories from the same genre. I wanted Waltr to success so badly that I was even frustrated when something went wrong. I was very focused on the characters´s actions. I praise the writer´s ability to créate scenes where something is happening with one character or another. I have to add that I didn´t like Walter´s daughter at all. Too hard-headed and didn´t trust her father.
If you want a crime story with Good characters and a villain worhty of that title, you can find it in this book. I had a great time Reading it.
First of all I wanted the book to give more like 3.5 star , so had to settle for 3 as I wasn't much sure about giving it 4
Now let's dive into the review of this psychological & suspense thriller by Brian.W.Peterson . The book is a good combination of thriller with a semi mystery ending. The story has started slow & started taking speed I keep reading. It has some good wow factor with equally crazy or horrifying moments which makes you wonder about the plot of the story more. It certainly keeps you engaging throughout the book. Overall a good experience.
A good psychological thriller to enjoy when you just looking some change & easy flow going.
This was a suspenseful thriller that had me on the edge of my seat until the very end.
While you knew who the killer was fairly early on, you never knew entirely how he had pulled it off or what he was going to do next. For a brief time the author even had me believing that Walt was actually crazy.
I enjoyed this book very much, but wasn't fond of Heidi. I just found her to be unbelievable gullible and easily manipulated.
If you are in the mood for intense thriller, this is definitely the book for you!
Wager of death is a psychological thriller that had me on my toes from the moment I started reading it until the minute I finished the book. I have to admit that I have read many horror/mystery books and this is by far the best one I ever had the chance to read. If I could I would have finished it within days from the moment I was able to start it. Also, the writing is impeccable which made it more interesting and easier to read! I would surely recommend this book to every reader that can’t do without this genre as well as amazing writing skills. Congratulations to the author!
This book got off to a slow start for me. For some reason the impression I got from the synopsis I read did not coincide with the first half.
However, this was a very good read and the second half of the book was exceptional. It contained all the elements I look for in a book; mystery, intrigue, love lost, love found and so much more.
I would recommend whomever starts this book to definitely finish it!
Twist and turns, a story that keeps you guessing. At some point I suspected each character of some part of the responsibility for the events occurring. Complicated families, business relationships and personal relationships; hard to figure out who to trust and who to suspect of murder. The ending was not as I was expecting, but a little more characteristic behavioral path for a main character. Enjoy the twist and see if you figure it all out before you reach the end.
Triumvirate Technologies is under attack.Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. The police trying to solve things looking outside, but the real culprit is within. One particular character's conniving treachery will get your blood boiling, literally. It will not leave you with a clear head at all or emotions. Pick up and read this book, you will see.
