About the author

Dr. Annabel Teh Gallop is Head of the South and Southeast Asia section at the British Library, London. Her main research interests are in Malay manuscripts, letters, documents and seals, and the book arts of Islamic Southeast Asia. Her Ph.D dissertation (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, 2002) was entitled Malay seal inscriptions: a study in Islamic epigraphy from Southeast Asia, and she is currently preparing for publication a catalogue of Malay seals. Her publications include The Legacy of the Malay Letter / Warisan warkah Melayu (London, 1994); Golden letters: writing traditions of Indonesia / Surat emas: budaya tulis di Indonesia, by A. T. Gallop with B.
