So get this...Me. Me, the Demon Lord, the baby bloodsucker, Mera, and the puppet posse are on our way to the demon territory when Mera falls into a hole and gets attacked by giant ants. We wipe 'em out in no time, but the commotion (and totally not me sticking my nose where it doesn't belong) just haaappens to wake up some ancient, hyper-advanced killing machines, and now the entire planet is gonna be destroyed! It's such a big deal that Güli-güli, the pontiff, and even Potimas are teaming up with the Demon Lord. Wait, when did they all get so chummy? And I'm sorry, what? They want ME to take out the main weapon?! No waaay!

This book was one giant battle against what amounted to basically mechs. It was mediocre when compared to the previous volumes. In fact I lost interest half way through but forced myself to continue. Ariel and the now named Shiro’s (Nameless Spider/White) relationship developed further with both of them no longer wanting to kill the other. In fact towards the end of the story there is a cute moment where White hugs the demon lord. There were a few moments that made me genuinely laugh such as the moment where White impaled the elf bastard and Ariel’s reaction was spot on. Anyway the ending made up for the drag in the middle which was pretty amazing with the way the Arachne destroyed the villain of the volume and overcame her obstacle at the end. I have much higher hopes for volume 8 now. STOP READING THIS REVIEW AND MOVE ONTO VOL 8 ALREADY!!!

Great continuation of the past plot line
If you like the other books in the series, you’ll probably enjoy this one. If not, it probably won’t convert you.
We get some good plot progression here, even while half the book focuses on one big battle sequence. Our main villain earns some bad guy points, and we learn why everyone hates him.
If you like the series, I’d recommend picking this one up—though odds are that you already will, regardless of my recommendation.
If you like the other books in the series, you’ll probably enjoy this one. If not, it probably won’t convert you.

I am not sure but I still love it
It feels like the genre and pacing changed so much from previous volumes that I actually had trouble getting through. I am not big on action and enjoyed reading about conversations and White's thoughts.
However, I still really loved this book and I still love this series. This volume in particular was simply not my genre/pacing of choice.

My thoughts on "So I'm a Spider, So What?" (蜘蛛ですが、なにか?) Vol 7

This volume had an incredible amount of sci-fi?
The story:
This volume was very different from all the other 6 volumes. Usually, each volume covers a very big span of time, some volumes cover almost entire years. This time was an exception this entire volume covered the span of a single day as a very long and big fight.
(spoilers ahead)
So kumoko and the gang discover the ruins of an ancient civilization that actually has robots (?) and a fuck ton of sci-fi things. Well, they accidentally turn on a UFO ( I shit you not) that has a bomb able to destroy the entire continent.
The rest of the volume is the 4 main (?) powers of the world: Kumoko, demon lord, Dustin (aka he is something like the pope), and asshole the elf fighting the UFO for a very very long time the whole volume was this.

Enjoyment:
This vol was entirely narrated by kumoko with only 2 small chapters narrated by vampy and one narrated by Dustin.
The fight got very tedious very quickly (the reason it took me so long to read the volume).
I don't like the sci-fi elements but they don't feel out of place it's just that I don't really feel it when a very good fantasy setting gets some out of place sci-fi elements. Still, as I said it didn't fell out of place and the vol was actually very enjoyable.
The verdict:
I was thinking very hard about giving this vol a low score because I don't feel like it lives up to the other volumes but that 2 last chapters really made the entire volume for me. it went from a 7 to a 9 very quickly. 9/10

Unfortunately, this volume is pretty boring. Who knew that fighting a giant UFO that contains dangerous bomb and robots, while simultaneously working together (trying to stab each other in the back) with your nemesis are actually boring to read. I also don't really like how the author writes about human honestly but whatever.
The only good thing from this volume is White and Ariel finally admitting that they've grown to care for each other. I guess White evolving to a god and losing all her powers are also an interesting end.

The writing is quite bad sometimes. There is a lot of repeating, over explaining and summarising what happened in previous books. Through the whole story.
The story is still interesting when something new happens. The end was a nice action packed suprise.

The whole book was action sequences. I won't say that they weren't entertaining. I've been coming up through this series for the story though. This book made me seriously doubt whether I wanted to continue when volume 8 comes out. Maybe now that her life isn't in perpetual danger, the story lacks a certain tension.

This whole volume was one boss battle against mechas. Probably my least favorite volume so far, read it just for the sake of finishing it tbh. The series feels so different compared to when I first started it, but I'll probably keep going for kumoku, or should I say Shiro?

Things are heating up with this latest Volume! I know I’m sounding like a broken record, but Okina Baba does it again!
Volume 7 sees the team up of people you would never think would associate with one another. I mean, a Demon Lord, Dustin, the leader of the world’s largest religion, Potimas, the antagonist leader of the elves, and White (or Shiro, whichever you prefer), our OP spider? Sure, it’s an all-star team, but given the fact that they’re all pretty much each other’s enemies, you’d never expect to see them working together. Though, I guess the end of the world is a pretty good reason to temporarily set aside your differences.
Yep, you read that right. White, and the rest of the Demon Lord party are fighting not only for their lives, but for the entire planet. White let her curiosity get the better of her, and ended up discovering the ruins of a civilization past. The bad part? That ancient civilization is an advanced one that was lost to the world, chocked full of creations that have no business being in this fantasy setting.
We learn a lot more about the world in this Volume, and get to see things through the eyes of the people we normally don’t. We’re still following White and the Demon Lord’s party, but we get to jump into the heads of who I consider to be the big bad of the series (so far at least), Potimas, as well as the leader of the world’s largest religion, Dustin. Their perspective shines a light on things you wouldn’t normally know just looking through White’s or the Demon Lord’s eyes. This allows for an opening up of the world at large, and works to make this world Baba has crafted that much more full. I won’t spoil what all happens but the events of this novel set things up to be very interesting going forward.
Fantasy vs sci-fi, monsters and humans vs advanced machines for the fate of the world! The majority of this Volume is action, which is a complete 180 from the previous one, as we didn’t get much in the way of fight scenes. I don’t mind either way, because whether or not fight scenes are happening, the story is always a blast to read. The characters make the story for me, so seeing what they do, and how they react to situations is my favorite thing to experience. The fights that happen are just the icing on top.
That said, the fallout of the battle of this Volume can be felt all the way up to the future storyline following Shun and the other reincarnations. I’m excited to see how the stories begin to line up in the coming Volumes. I’m anxious to see where things grow from here, given how this one ends.

This is another one that focuses exclusively on Kumoko’s party, or should I say /White’s/ Party? They’re still traveling to the Demon Lands, and it sounds like there’s been a time skip of about one year since the end of volume 6.
This is a big one in terms of world building. We learn a good deal more about what happened in this world’s past, along with some hints that underpin its present. You know that "System", which has been mentioned more and more often? More of that is coming to light.
We also learn a good bit more about Guli-Guli, which is great, because he’s this big mysterious entity in prior volumes and the anime’s first season. That’s fun.
We also see more of the machines that appeared near the end of the anime’s first season. In fact, the whole book is about defeating an army of them and a particularly troublesome aircraft carrier. Like White says, it is a massive genre shift that seems totally out of place in a standard medieval fantasy setting, and that it makes it quite intriguing.
It is a lot of fun. Reading the different stages of this battle is fun. It’s a good example of how to write mass combat – focus on the emotions and the overall progress of battle. Blow by blow is boring and laborious; it’s far more fun to read and easier to write about either officer-types observing the battle from a distance and a soldier pushing forward on a key objective.
Wonderfully foreshadowing for that bomb, which leads to a fantastic sequel hook.

While Vol 6 is still probably my favorite so far Vol 7 still was very enjoyable to me!
As mentioned in the author's note this was very different from all of the other books in the series thus far. It took me a little bit longer than usual to finish because the pacing was slightly different but I still found all the action compelling and entertaining to read. I had a few moments in this volume that made me just kinda sit there and think "wow this is going off the rails a little bit here" but I still found it very entertaining.

Desde a revelação que Potimas era um cyborg eu já tinha várias teorias sobre o mundo em que os alunos reencarnaram, mas mesmo assim me surpreendeu a revelação de que eles vivem num mundo pós-apocaliptico.

One of our anonymous patrons asked us to choose a light novel for their Patron's Choice episode this season, so we chose this because the title made us laugh. We, uh, got volume 7 instead of 1 because we thought the 7 was a 1. So what!? Strangely enough we read a different light novel a few episodes ago for a different patron and they happen to be from the same publisher. Can TBC survive another light novel so soon after the last one?

I Couldn’t Breathe, I Was Laughing So Hard
Guys... she literally ripped him a new asshole. This particular volume is packed full of new information and solidifies your hatred for a certain elf. There are so many hilarious moments that I was wheezing. Not to mention, this almost felt like a completely new theme with the whole sci-fi vs fantasy thing. I highly recommend. Besides, if you’ve already come this far then I see no point in stopping.

FANTASY VS SCI-FI
That is basically the summary of it.
I almost give it 4 because of pace is starting to get bland and there is a scene which irritates me on how no one think of that that place to become a suggestion.
Luckily, it is saved the the wicked plot twist, which is the reason I give it a 5 star! Still hoping that it get hold the intensy that it leaves based on the last chapter.

I love this light novel, but I found this book quite boring. The author said that it was mostly battle too compensate for the last one but really, it was mostly self reflecting on things we already know with a battle in the background and repeating the same things over and over ... I'm scared by the ending, and excited at the same time. Hope it brings some fresh air to this character I enjoy so much.

The story goes from a fantasy, to a sci-fi real quick! Loved the meeting of the biggest powers in the universe, but this book in itself feels a little unnecessary.
First time in this series that I felt like what was happening, didn’t need to happen. I understand that Kumoko wouldn’t have become a deity if she didn’t swallow that bomb, but i also don’t feel like we needed an entire book about the battle.
Really enjoyed it, but definitely the weakest book in the series so far.

Fun but a bit too much retreading

The biggest problem with this book is that it ends.
I'm not much of a book expert but its just a story you get atached to. Like, i read this book in one sitting so its definetly really good.

This took me a bit longer to read than usual. Unlike previous vols this one focuses on White's story only. It's pretty much a long battle, which I personally find boring, but luckily the author made it worth it by the end. Pretty excited to see what happens next~

Que bonito volumen... La parte que más me gustó es como nos muestra que Ariel y Blanca se vuelven realmente cercanas y al fin considerarse ambas amigas cosa que también pasó con los vampiros. Y como después de que Blanca se trago la bomba todos estaban relamete preocupados por ella.

Another great novel
I really enjoyed this novel. It carried much more action than the previous one but nonetheless was still enjoyable. Hopefully next volume slows things down a bit bc I also enjoy the slow journey they had last volume.

This book was more of non-stop action around one particular incident, which I didn't like as much as the usual mix of introspection, time passing, and action. But hey, despite it not being something I quite liked, it's still more of So I'm a Spider and I'm still enjoying the story.
