What would you do if the husband you thought was dead walked into your life, wanting to pick up where you'd left off?
Brett had been gone for six years. Wonderful memories were all Samantha had…she'd also been left to raise their little girl alone.
But Brett is alive, and has finally found his wife. Only now he has a daughter who's a stranger to him and who will never be able to see what her daddy looks like.
Although Brett knows he can never make up for the missing years, he's still Sam's husband. And although she's changed, and treats him with wary caution, he still loves her with a burning passion…one he hopes will rekindle their marriage!
Single mother Samantha is having a peaceful swim in her pool after putting her blind daughter to bed, when in walks Brett, her presumed-dead husband, returned after six years. He wants a relationship with his daughter and his wife, but past events are holding her back...
Interesting premise, but the book has the 'big misunderstanding' plot, where all their differences could have been fixed by one conversation at the beginning. I think the book would have been better if it had just focused on developing/renewing the family relationships and different ideas over how to bring up a child with a disability, without the additional conflict of the 'misunderstanding'.
Well written except for some glaring plot holes. An Australian doctor from a prominent family well known in society goes missing presumed dead comes back to life, there is no news of his miraculous return in the newspapers. The story begins two years after his return having found where his wife and child is he comes back to be with them after spending 6 months preparing and learning to be a father to his blind child rather than immediately being with them. The h doesn't even express joy that H is back from being dead on seeing him after 6 years. Apart from these, the rest of the story about the hopes and frustrations of being parents to a child with special needs comes through beautifully.
Interesting romance with a father coming back to his wife and child who was born while he was presumed dead. The little girl is born blind and the back and forth is over the proper raising of a blind child. Well researched and a touching romance. Recommended.
