I certainly learned a few things about Picasso from this slim volume. Written in the mid 1960s, the author refers more than once to the influence of "Negro art" on Picasso's work - not exactly a term of art but a sign of the times in which it was written. The little I know about Picasso is that African art, especially masks, had an influence on the angular forms that defined his cubism.
