The west coast is gone, wiped from the map. Six cities have been razed to the ground in a nuclear attack that has shocked the world, and the terrified survivors flee inland to escape the chaos, destruction and radioactive fallout.
Too many survivors...
Something doesn't add up...
Jack Archer doesn't give a damn who launched the missiles. Right now he only cares about saving his wife and daughter, but as he continues south even he can't help but notice that nothing about the attack makes sense. Why did so few die? Why was Portland spared? Where's the invasion?
As the disaster continues to unfold and the world teeters on the brink of nuclear war Jack realizes that he's not just in this to save his family. If millions are to be saved he needs to discover the truth. He needs to find out who launched the attack, and why.
And only Karen Archer knows the truth...
YEAR ZERO is the third and final novel of the lightning-paced, heart-stopping, gut-wrenching Jack Archer post-apocalyptic survival series.
... a truly compulsive page turner, the kind of book that forces you at gunpoint to the next chapter all the way to the end.
Keith Taylor is the true identity of the million plus selling author behind the pen names Aya Fukunishi and K A Taylor, who toiled for years writing bizarrely popular romance novels while he secretly longed to return to his true calling: explosively awesome post-apocalyptic fiction.
Keith hails from the rainy suburbs of Manchester in the north of England. He lives with his wife, Otgontsetseg, and splits his time between Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Bangkok, Thailand. He survives on a diet of meat, cheese, beer and cigarettes, and he probably shouldn't still be alive.
This is post apocalyptic fiction at its best. I’m so glad I discovered this author. He has great characters. You get to know them in-depth and can relate to their storyline. The premise of the story isn’t a new one but Taylor writes about TEOTWAWKO in a refreshing way. There’s violence (it’s the end of the world so it’s expected) but it’s not extreme or bloody. There’s no sexual violence, which for me is difficult to read. I really love Boomer the dog, he was a great addition to the list of characters and added some comic relief. I’d recommend this to YA’s and Adults who enjoy this type of fiction. Looking forward to reading some of his other books.
Just finished the series and consider it a good book, but just wanted to give honest feedback. The first book started real slow and almost put it down but continued and was pleased how it picked up.
One other thing bothered me, when Karen and friends reached the first base and sitting in the mess hall she sends her 7 yr old daughter off with alone with a male private. What mother that claims to love her child sends them off with a stranger?
I loved this series! I pray this was in no way inspired by real events, because its all so absolutely mortifying! Happy ending though waits for the reader at the end of all the terror. You will want to take a deep breath and remind yourself its only fiction after you read this series. If you love post apocalyptic horror, then you will love this!
Good conclusion to the three book series. I like kids but thought there was too much narrative about the seven year old girl with lots of pages about her and what she had to say about events. Maybe it was supposed to be cute. Anyway I’ll read his other series because he makes sense in explaining everything.
I enjoyed this series that I wished he had written more! It was a go from the start. It kept me in suspense and interested the way through. Exciting and thrilling all the way through. I used to live in Renton, WA. And know the airports and bases with which he spoke off. Great writing and good details!
Very interesting plot, with sub-stories running throughout, and I was enthralled the whole time. I'm going to start the Willow Series next, so I'll let you know how it goes.
This is an incredible series about the struggles of a family trying to come back together after a nuclear attack. You will love this story. Go back to the first book and start this wonderful series!
What a ride, this book a awesome. The struggle one family has as they work to find each other. An attack that comes. From a surprisingly attach to the disheartening realization of where the terrorist attack came from.
This is a revive for all 3 books This is Fast past story that will keep you reading all night long. Twist and turns you don't see coming. If you want an attention getting story this is it. It seemed so real its scary. A must read.
I know we have crazy people in this world but good grief the one thing I would not have expected was a military presence as the protagonist! What a thought!
This was a fairly good conclusion to this series and you find out who is really responsible for all of this and it isn't pretty. There was a bit too much focus on the little girl who was not really crucial to the story other than the human factor and the need to protect her. I also found the resolution for the bad guy and the plane a bit rushed and on the side of straining credulity a bit. Overall, though, I have enjoyed this series.
