Amy has finally graduated, and she's excited to move on to her internship with a law firm in London. What she doesn't expect is to be invited to a ball by an eccentric old woman—or that she actually decides to go. Spontaneity is not her thing. When she's pulled back in time, Amy is thrown into a world of balls, picnics, and suitors.
William has spent most of his life helping his aunt Nellie with the time traveling groups who come through Twickenham Manor. But this time it's different. The feisty, beautiful Amy captures William's heart from the moment he sees her, and the magic she calls modern technology captivates him even more.
While the others who have traveled back seem to fit in, Amy is just looking forward until the day she can go home. William knows he should help her, but he's too busy enjoying the taste of the special magic she brought with her. Will Amy finally let go and enjoy her experience at Twickenham Manor, or will she leave William—and her heart—to go back to her own time?
Jaclyn is an Idaho farm girl who grew up loving to read. She developed a love for writing as a senior in high school, when her dad jokingly said she was the next Dr. Seuss (not even close, but very sweet). She met her husband, Steve, at BYU, and they have six happy, crazy children who encourage her to keep writing. After owning a bookstore and running away to have adventures in Australia, they settled back down in their home in Utah. Jaclyn now spends her days herding her kids to various activities and trying to remember what she was supposed to do next.
Amy is excited to have graduated from law school and is in London to start her summer internship. When she gets a mysterious invitation to a ball, she's not at all expecting to be thrown back in time. Unlike the other women who came with her, Amy doesn't fit it with the expectations of women in this era, and she can't wait for the month to be over so she can return to her own time. William, is Aunt Nellie's nephew, who's faithfully helped her time traveling guests for many years. He's taken in by Amy and has so many questions about the future that she misses so much.
Going to Twickenham Manor is always fun. Some of the guests like it and others find they want to return to their own time. Amy was one of those. Maybe she felt out of place because she didn't get the two weeks of immersion before attending the ball or maybe it was because she truly didn't fit in with the way women had to act back then. Whatever it was, William didn't seem to mind and he was taken with her from the start.
I was glad to see Aunt Nellie again, but she didn't feel the same to me in this book as in some of the others. In some of other books she very understanding when the guests don't quite fit in, but I didn't get that feeling in this book. Maybe it's because the series is written by mulitple authors. I like it when Aunt Nellie comes across as the kind, grandmotherly type. I liked William and loved how interested he was in Amy's phone and laptop. I had a feeling he would want to follow her when she returned to her own time. I think it's great that he gets his own happily ever after.
I listened to the audiobook of this latest Twickenham Time Travel Romance. The narrator did a good job.
I was looking forward to Williams story for a while and was so excited to read it.
The William in this book was not the same as I’ve experienced in previous installments in the series. Not that it was bad, he just didn’t equate with the other version. The ending seemed a little rushed as well.
That aside I enjoyed the story. Amy gave him a run for his money as well as a new zest for life. However when duty and desire are on opposite sides of the board which will William choose?
WHAT IT'S ABOUT Amy has finally graduated, and she's excited to move on to her internship with a law firm in London. MY TAKE William has been a part of Twickenham since the very first three books, and it was exciting for him to finally get his own HEA. He be a good nephew to Aunt Nellie, but when he meets Amy from the future he finds himself wanting more. And boy does he get it! The two characters are engaging and likeable. It's fun to see Aunt Nellie again.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator, Stephanie Nemeth-Parker, did a fabulous job!
I have enjoyed reading books from this series. With multiple authors the books feel different from other authors but that is okay. I just think of them as their own stand alone. I always want Aunt Nellie to play more of a role in the books though. I want to see her quirkiness that I felt more in the first one I read but I think that my interpretation is different than the books. But maybe if the reader got to spend more time with her I'd have a better feel for her.
Anyway, in this specific book I liked the main characters for the most part. I wanted them to be together and felt a little annoyed that Aunt Nellie tried to stop it when she was the one that brought Amy there. I think I was a little bothered that William and Amy both confessed their love but both of them were willing to separate. William was willing to stay because Aunt Nellie was apparently more important than Amy and Amy was willing to go without William because she wanted to be in the modern world with her family. Both of them were willing to put their families before each other. William was obviously better suited to the change than Amy would have been staying but I wanted them both to be willing to do whatever it took to be together.
It is a quick and clean read. I listened to the audio-book and thought the narrator did well in varying her voice to make each character recognizable.
No sex, language or violence *I received a complimentary copy of the audio-book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I enjoyed reading an Enchanted Heart. Both William and Amy are likable characters that I could empathize with. Amy graduates from law school and heads off to London for an internship. She's received an invitation to a ball that she thinks may have something to do with her internship. William helps his aunt at Twickenham Manor where the ball is being held--in 1870. There is a lot of humor with the modern Americans trying to dress and behave properly for the time period as well as with William's fascination with modern inventions that Amy is not supposed to be showing him. Will Amy stay in 1870 or go back to her own time, breaking William's heart? I like Jaclyn Hardy's writing style and hope to read more of her work. I received an ARC. I chose to leave a review and share my opinion.
This is an interesting twist on a love story and time travel. Amy decides to attend a mysterious ball in London after her father encourages her to have fun. She's in London to start an internship after graduation from law school. Her curious nature has her exploring the mansion where the ball is being held. And boom!, she finds herself in the same house, but in a completely different era. She's there as part of a magical match making adventure. Does she find the love of her life? Does she decided to stay in the past and give up her family and all the modern technology that she enjoys? Not too technical and deep, but the book explores the differences in how women behave now and how they were expected to dress and behave in that era.
Although this is a multi-author series and technically a reader could start with any book, I wouldn't recommend starting with this one. It doesn't really capture the magic of the Twickenham universe. The romance felt rushed despite the heroine being in the past for a month. I did enjoy the book right up until the heroine traveled back in time, so I would be willing to try another one of the author's books to see how she does with a romance that doesn't have the constraints of fitting into someone else's universe.
The story was okay. I was disappointed in the fact that the author must not have communicated with the other authors in this series. In the other books William is not really Nellie’s nephew. He is said to be an adopted nephew. But she made him the son of her sister. Also if that were true then he would have been a fae like Nellie. She also changed Nellie a bit.
Amy and William are really sweet together. William loves science and inventions and Amy is happy to share that part of her world with him. I've only read a few books in this series, but it has been a lot of fun. I'm grateful I read a few of the others so I could understand the back story of the time travel, magic, fairies, etc. I enjoyed this story, but I still had several questions at the end, which I won't share because I don't want to give any spoilers.
Amy travels back in time but will she stay? She and William hit it off but are they supposed to? Loved how curious he was about all of her electronics. I felt like I was in London with them - such great descriptions. There is a bump in their road but I loved how it was smoothed out. Great ending. The narrator did an amazing job of making me feel like I was there and switching between voices.
Amy was headed to London for an internship, receiving a invitation to a ball she wondered who had invited her. William has spent years helping his Aunt Nellie with the ones who came to the past. He wondered when it would be his turn to have someone. Another great story in the series.
This review is for the free audible copy I received. This is another fun story of Aunt Nellie's matchmaking efforts. Amy struggles to adjust to old-time London society & misses her modern conveniences. But then there is William whom she comes to love. What time period will they remain in? You have to read to find out. This is my voluntary review.
It was an enjoyable book. I was excited to read William's story. The main characters were fun to read and were cute together. I wish there was more context and explanation about his mother and her wishes for him. The ending did feel rushed, and I always want to see more of the couple after they get together, but that is just me.
Loved #10 in this series. Twisted around with our hero as a central character and the heroine as the secondary. Different ending than most and very pleasing Epilogue ties it together. Short and very sweet!
** Audiobookmreview ** This book is narrated beautifully by Stephanie Nemeth-Parker. Sweet, clean romance involving a little magic and time travel. I really enjoyed the storyline and look forward to listening/reading more books from the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this audiobook.
Book 10 of 14 of a multiple authored series, is well narrated and presents the story of Amy, who graduates from college, moves to London and back in time. Suitable for young teen readers. Not all books in series are available as audiobooks.
