Somos para siempre.
Juntos somos una locura
One’s my salvation, the other the captor of my heart.
Love shouldn’t come in threes, so why is this happening to me?
They say love is spilled from the veins and onto the skin of lovers.
Bleed, bleed, bleed until they set you free.
My blood will shed until one wins.
They’re destined to destroy one another, and I’m caught in the middle.
Will there be anyone left?

”Love doesn’t respect the law, nor does it obey a king.”

Always has me torn in halfs… Seriously, it’s more than on one level that I’m not sure what to think about this book. The 3rd book in the Cape Hill series is different than the first two books. The story evolved in itself and that’s what I really loved and enjoyed about reading it. And I loved the fact that this book was more about Brex and my heart is really hurting and breaking for him. Actually he wormed his way deeper into my heart, so deep, that I have to say I guess I care more about him and his story than about Sy and Leia. That’s kind of sad, isn’t it? Shouldn’t I become attached to Sy and Leia, IMO the main players in this series?

But fact is, that Sy and Leia developed into two characters I started detaching myself from. They are becoming people I suddenly started to dislike. I’m not sure why with Leia, but I know what I definitely don’t like about Sy: Sy says he loves Leia, wants her happy and wants to give her time and winning her back. But IMO he does the exact opposite. He’s kind of forcing his love on her, doesn’t give her space and constantly pushing her in the direction he wants her actions and reactions. And I think that’s totally not fair. Especially not if he starts to realize that she needs more time.

”He’s hot. He’s cold. He’s demanding and forcefully pushing me away. Emotional whiplash is his skill, and I’m his helpless puppet.”

Always is a great addition to the Cape Hill series, a book that will keep your mind and heart busy, leaving you at the and with a slightly bitter taste but the desire for more.

”Maybe best friends aren’t supposed to fall in love, but I couldn’t help but do it anyway.”

-My review is for Firsts, Lasts, & Always-

Peoples, I cannot tell you the last time I binged a series. I flew through these 3 books in the span of a few hours. I had a million other things to do but once I started I couldn't stop. Days later and I am still thinking about these books. That, in itself, is a testament of how good they are. If you know me then you know I don't even read this genre, yet here I am craving, NEEDING, the next one.

This book pissed me off in the best way possible. It made me actually care about these characters.

And that ending *throws all the things.*

C.L has outdone herself with this series. The writing, the emotions. I can't even put it into words. You need these in your life.

Also, for the record, Brax is mine.

The perfect books and series for taboo romance lovers, Always by C. L. Matthews is the third installation of this authors Cape Hill and releases March 20th, 2019. This cannot be read as a standalone, and it is recommended to read the first two books in order to be properly experienced. It is in my opinion that the overall purpose of Always is love. As vague as it is, love plays a huge part of this novel, despite discussing various controversial issues; whether it be love in regards to relationships, love for family, love for loyalty, love for yourself or love for money. This isn't your regular love story. It's heartbreak and passion. It's anger and empathy. Violence and strategy. It pertains to more than one person, and a decision, right or wrong, could cause a domino effect and affect everyone's lives.

From the very beginning of this series, my heart has never swayed from who I wanted to come out on top. If you are familiar with the series, you'll know what I mean. #TeamBrax from day one, always having a soft spot for the underdog. I'm not a traitorous cow like the rest of the flip floppers who are switching teams. It's all about the bigger picture. And from the moment I saw Brax, I knew he was sorely unappreciated. I despise the thought of a sandwich of any kind and while I am overly frustrated with Leia, as a person and a woman, she needs to sort herself out. The biggest part that I loved was each character's journey of self-discovery. The characters have grown so much, physically and mentally and yet the focal issue still remains somewhat the same. It is for this reason that I was mainly frustrated. Everything else seemed to have changed as time went on, but it always came back to the same thing and no decision had been made.

A warning to all you prudish people who cringe at sexual chemistry or sex scenes, even if only on paper, you might want to get ready because this book is filled to the brim of sex. This book will destroy you, it'll stroke and please you until you can't take no more. It's violent, dirty, sexy and lethal in its own right.

I was also unprepared for the amount of heat this book had and pleasantly surprised. Every time this author writes a new story, I am pulled deeper into her vortex and I never want to leave. Her writing is nearly flawless, improving with every novel. Each chapter as surprising as the last; which is something I love. I loved that it wasn't predictable, however, in some instances (not many) I found the writing sporadic and wooden. But as the story emerged, it flowed perfectly and picked up its pace. Despite the minor weaknesses, the authors' voice flowed through the story and flowed effortlessly.

I am so consumed by life in Cape Hill. I never want to leave. I never want it to end. However, I know it will and my heart isn't ready for my heart to hurt again. I don't know why it's the novels that end up hurting me the most that draw my attention the most. Nevertheless, another round of applause to Matthews for giving us the story we never knew we needed in our lives.

I binge read this series and now that I’ve finished book 3 I need the next and final book right now so I can have answers to all the questions that are going to be in my mind for a long time from now on and I am not a very patient person when it comes to books and characters that are challenging me, my brain or my emotions and my heart.
The first thing that I have to say about this author is that I loved the writing because I kinda read Always in less time than I usually read and that's very rare. It's a world created by the author that will keep you glued to your Kindle because all the scenes and actions are very well written and you just want to know more and forget what’d going on around you.
I loved that we get to know more about Brax as he is older and growing up so nicely, a more mature man with a strength that only a few people are capable of even admitting what they want in life and how much they will fight for it.
She has to choose and, as in real life, there is no option without sacrifice, so we have to wait and see what happens next and how everything will unfold for these great characters.

The saga continues in Cape Hill with Always.

Here we follow the growth of Leía, Sy and Brax. We dive into their past more to make sense of current situations.

In true CL Matthews way, we are left teased and tortured in so many ways. You really do not know what’s going to happen as you’re reading. You’ll have to go back and re read scenes and ask yourself WTF just happened??? No she didn’t!! But oh yes she did!

Here I see 3 broken souls, drifting and going through the motions for fear of rejection. Each settle for what they believe is right.

There’s so much more background info that you are taking yourself through an emotional rollercoaster. Prepare yourselves for nothing is at seems. Who you thought you knew, will surprise you completely. You will be on the edge of your seat from start to finish!

Im ready for Forevers. Are you? Tick tock time is running out.

You know C. L. Matthews is in her element when she grips your attention within the very first page, evokes emotions you had no idea you were capable of feeling, then to top it all off… makes you question what’s right from wrong. And that is how taboo is supposed to be done.

I was meant to be beta-reading and proofreading this book, but I was so sucked in by all the characters, the drama and the angst, I had to re-read it all over again once I reached the end.
You think you have the entire story pegged out after reading Firsts and Lasts (books #1 and #2 in the Cape Hill series)? WRONG. You think there are no more hurdles to overcome in the third book? WRONG.

Always is grittier, rawer and packed with much more depth than the first two books. I was amazed at the growth of each character. Leia is growing up to be a strong, independent young woman. We experience her torn heart for both Sy and Brax with her; although, as a reader, I was urging her to pick a side, I understood her confusion. Brax is no longer the teenage boy we’d gotten to know and love (STFU, #TeamSy). He is growing up to be an alpha male we all want a piece of. Sy has many more layers to his character than I thought he was capable of; we experience a softer side to him, and his all-time weakness? Leia.

You thought this was going to end in a happily ever after between Leia and Sy after they had gotten over all the obstacles they faced in Firsts and Lasts? W R O N G.

Because there’s a book #4, and I cannot wait to see how this story ends.

**Always is book #3 of the Cape Hill series, available for pre-order.

Sy, Leia and Brax. Three souls entangled together in the most forbidden of ways. When the painful memories of the past come to light, can they find a way to help each other? Or are they doomed to suffer?

I am so elated that this book exists. It was amazing in the best of ways and I hadn't expected even 1% of it. This book hit me harder than the previous ones and I remember I actually cried at one point because my heart was hurting.

Sy, Leia and Brax's lives are too intertwined. I need them to live a happy and peaceful life because if anyone deserves it, it's them.

C.L. Matthews never fails to surprise me. She is a poet who knows how to incite fifteen different emotions in you. AT ONCE. I cannot wait for what else she has in store for us. It's going to be an epic and emotional ride.

Soooooooooo I’m gonna just start by stating the obvious: this book is not for everyone. There are no rainbows and I ate all the gumdrops.

That being said … for all you dirty folks like myself, pull up a chair and lets chat!

I have a shelf on Goodreads that’s labeled: I am seriously twisted … THIS book belongs there because I LOVED EVERY MOMENT!

This story, from the first book (Firsts) thru the next (Lasts) to this book (Always) will absolutely push every one of your buttons, if you let it. But you don’t have to. You can just accept their twisted lives for what they are and push past the taboo and forbidden to what is truly a story of growth and discovery and doing whatever it takes to attain the unattainable. It’s a story of choices and consequences. It’s a story more about obsession than love. And it is most definitely not your typical romance.

I was lucky enough to be able to binge read these first three installments and every single one still left me so wired and reeling that I couldn’t just jump into the next book. I had to take a pause and absorb it. IT WAS MAGNIFICENT. There’s an edge of uncertainty to this story. You don’t quite know what’s going to happen but yet you kinda do and even then, you are surprised. It’s very edgy and alive. While I read these books, I felt a bit anxious LOL (that’s only happened one other time) and thrilled at the same time.

So far, I can safely say, I might be going to hell for loving this as much as I do, but it’s worth it! If you can step outside your comfort zone and want to read a very well developed story that is achingly beautiful, then by all means, #oneclick away!

This story isn't over and it cannot be read as a standalone. You've been warned.

I could almost write the same review for book three as I did for book 2 - everything I like and don’t like is basically the same as it’s been for the whole series. The likes include that I enjoy the heat/sexy scenes - I’m fully on board with a giant sandwich when it comes to this series, btw. Another like is that some sentences are so beautifully written and evocative, and like nothing I have ever read before, that I find myself re-reading them. Some of my dislikes are that this different POV story jumps around between past and present, complete with flashback sections in each time period. This non-linear style comes across chaotic and confusing to this reader’s linear brain, and I’m still confused by some of the timelines and stories of some of the side characters. I also find the extremes of the characters (for lack of a better description) annoying - they are continually thinking that they will never or always do or be or think “x” again! ...and then almost immediately doing (or not doing) it. (I’m sure I’m not explaining that well.) I’m still compelled by the whole thing, though overall it is just okay for me (2 on GR, 3 on Amazon) and since this one is not the end I do plan to read book 4 to see how the relationships end up.

I read this book in Kindle Unlimited

Leia, Sy and Brax are have me in knots. I love Brax so much and I want them to all be happy together but I don’t know if I’ll get my version HEA. Either way I need them to find their happiness. These people have endured so much. SO much! My heart breaks for them. This story keeps me on my toes and it’s addicting!

These books have got me on a ride. I am absolutely team Leia all the way! This girl needs a good man. All the men in her life mess her up in some way! This story was a little back and forth. A bit more scattered than the previous books, but not hard to follow. Still some really great story telling by CL Matthews! I can't wait for more of this story! I really need to find out who she picks once and for all!!!

That went bad fast. Idk what happened to these characters but they seem like totally different people. I got a migraine reading this book. Leia was annoying and a whore. I enjoy a good love triangle but I was getting whiplash with her bipolar emotions. Sheesh I'm glad that's over. 🙄

It never fails. CL Matthews leaves me sitting dumbfounded at the end of the book and craving more! I don't even know where to start with this one! The complexity of the situation between Brax, Sy, and Leia becomes even more entangled. Hearts are ripped and torn. Lives begin anew. Loyalties are tested. Struggles emerge. Follow the heart, take what you've always wanted, or stick with what society says is acceptable? Stick with the safety net or step out on the tightrope?

I LOVED that we got to know Brax more in this book. Some parts were heartbreaking and some parts were exhilarating! I LOVED that suddenly it seemed he grew from boy to man and I instantly sat up and took notice! Brax was a sleeper, someone I didn't see clearly in the earlier books but I wanted to know more and finally, he stepped into the spotlight. His struggles, his tormented soul, I just want to wrap him up and make it all better!

Sy. Aw, this man. Sy is a fighter. No matter how many times he's knocked down or betrayed. No matter how hard things get, he always gets back up and takes care of everyone. For me, he became real in this book. He was always larger than life, so sure and capable, selfless, but now we see his pain, his struggle, his need to have that love he gives so freely returned.

I can't say enough good things about this book. The writing and storyline were fabulous. The characters and uncertainty kept me glued to my seat the entire time. I have no idea how the story of Leia, Sy, and Brax will play out from here but you can bet I'll be sitting on pins and needles waiting for Forevers!

So I literally threw my phone when finishing this book! C.L. Matthews you are a cliffy queen!! I cannot believe that ending!! I'm still going OMG a day later a while writing this review! I'm literally in a book hangover from it. I still am 100% still TEAM SY!! This book just literally made me fall more in love with him. Now about Brax....I'm starting to not like the guy a lot more after this book. He disappointed me with the things he did, and the lies he was hiding from Leia. Poor Leia is just taking it day by day with all the crazy. lol I seriously need FOREVERS like ASAP so I can know what happens next!! I highly recommend this series if you like sexy taboo as much as I do!!

Always is Amazing!!!

Always will leave you reeling, and salivating! And, so freaking miserable due to having to wait for Forevers. I seriously need more NOW!!!!

Matthews immersed us into the pasts of Leia, Brax and Sy even more so than she already has. Adding those parts in, where she did has made Always that much greater! They also add such depth to each of the characters.

This series is one of my favorite Taboo series. I'm totally rooting for Sy, but I'm also #teamsandwich

Ohhh she did it again!

The third installment of Sy, Lele and Brax’s story amazing... This did not disappoint on the heat and angst. Always is one of those books you read in a day because you have to know what is going to happen next. I am definitely team sandwich!
Lele is once again torn between the two great loves her life, her best friend and her step father. Both are forbidden both pull her in different directions. Brax definitely stepped up the up his Alpha side in this one, with both Lele and Brady. He is just as torn as Leia where his heart belongs. He doesn’t know who he wants, he has mixed emotions for both. While Sy is dead set on winning her over for himself. The two have teamed up to keep Leia and her sheets on fire.
There is so many answered questions revealed but it also leaves you up in the air with some. Cassie is the queen of the “leaving hanging wanting more”, and she definitely did it again! All I have to say is 5 stars but I WANT MORE!!

Always was one of my most anticipated reads for this spring and it did not disappoint. But the cliffhanger at the end! UGH! Now to patiently (not so patiently) wait for the release of Forevers!

I read and loved the first two books and the forbidden aspect of the story. I also found myself torn between whether Sy or Brax should be Leia's match in books 1 and 2 and this same feeling continued in Always. Team sandwich has my vote because I just can't pick one over the other. Both are good for her in their own ways but Brax's desires and feelings has me hoping for his own HEA in the next book, even if it isn't with Leia. Both Leia and Brax have been through so much in a young life that they deserving of finding happiness and a lasting love.

If you are into taboo romances and great series, you need to read the Cape Hill Series. A must read!

Well, I wasn't expecting that ending at all. So, I enjoyed this book. I truly did. I loved seeing more of Sy, Leia, and Brax's relationship. Learning more about their past as well.

I am a little frustrated that this was published in 2019, it is now 2021, the ending says "To Be Continued" and the next book is still unavailable.

So, while I enjoyed this series, I think I would suggest waiting until the final book is out before reading them.

So many emotions and even more questions! I absolutely love First and Lasts but Always is by far my favorite. I was warned that I wasn't ready and I wasn't! Honestly there is no way to prepare for this book! The ending broke me...I'm broken...tiny tiny pieces of my heart shattered in the grass behind a frat house.

Oh. My. Lord. I know (I think) who my loyalties are with, but good lord almighty this book sure did test them. Here's a book where you have two of the main characters who are clearly in love, but not sure where their hearts really belong. Brax is grown up and definitely all man in this book and proves it to Leia over and over again, albeit with clips of him and Brady playing on a continuous loop in the back of his mind. And knowing that even before Sy showed back up, he was competing with a ghost for her love. And then there's Sy - all he has to do is walk back into Leia's life professing his love and she finds herself in a tangled web of trying to figure out where she belongs. Who knew he had a side to him that was in stark contrast to how you see him in Firsts and Lasts, the older brooding bad boy (man/daddy ;) to a man brought to his knees at the idea of not winning Leia back.

I am loving the side characters - from the bikers all the way down to Brady - especially Brady. I have a huge soft spot for him and hope he gets his HEA at some point.

I have no clue, zero, zip, nada on how this is going to play out in Forevers. I know what I want - at least I think I do, but not sure I'm going to get it or if that's what I really want anymore. Way to go Ms. Matthews on another amazing installment in the Cape Hill saga and one doozy of a cliffhanger - and placing me on the fence of not being sure whose team I'm on. I'm looking forward to seeing how it's all going to wrap up in Forevers!

OH.MY.GOSH! My heart....its bleeding everywhere! Wow! Just when I think this story cannot get more intense another log is thrown onto the fire! Seriously! This book had me more on edge than Firsts and Lasts combined! My loyalty and my support, kept getting pushed and pulled. I am SO happy that my Braxy got to shine in this book and that we learned so much more about him and his demons, and the sinful man he is becoming. I am going back and forth in my head trying to understand everyone's point of view and their struggles, but dang it is hard! Leia doesn't love Brax the way he needs to be loved, but shes just so scared that Sy wont give her the love she needs so shes keeping Brax invested and on the hook. Not cool! They have such a history and Brax feels obligated, responsible and that he owes it to her to be with her, all the while struggling with his own heartaches in the process and pushing aside his own happiness. They are trying so hard to love each other that they are actually hurting each other. Such an antagonizing read in all the best ways! I cannot WAIT for Forevers! I never want this to end!!

I don't know how much more my heart can take of this story! Every book in this series is so emotional and twisty turny and I love it so much! The characters are even more developed in Always. The storyline keeps getting deeper and deeper. My heart was ripped out so many times and pieced together just enough to keep reading without having an absolute meltdown. The secrets revealed in Always answered so many questions and left so many more running through my head. I love how this book has pushed through all boundaries of what is right and wrong when it comes to love. Love has no right or wrong, it just is. CL Matthews is layering an epic story piece by piece and I can't wait for more!

WHAT IN THE HOLY F*CK DID I JUST READ YA'LL BECAUSE IT WAS BEYOND EPIC?! Just as I think I am finally beginning to understand where C.L. Matthews is going with this series she totally proves me WRONG and turns my world upside down. This story is raw, intense and angsty as f*ck! I don't even know how I am still breathing right now because this insanely talented lady obliterated my heart into a nonexistent state of mind and I am struggling to catch my breath. This is hands down the best book in the series yet and I can't even begin to imagine how the next book will play out, especially after all the twists we just experienced.

Since the very beginning I have been a true #SyGirl and I definitely still am after devouring Always, but I kinda have a soft spot for Brax now too. Although truth be told no one could ever compare to Sy...just saying! I am legit on board for Sy and Leia to get their taboo happily ever after, but at the same time I might be convinced to accept #TeamSandwich as well...I just do not really know because it's still too early to tell. We shall see what team I am on when this series finally ends, which will kind of be bittersweet because I absolutely love these characters and their complex storyline!

Gah, I just finished reading book 3 in the cape hill series. Wow just wow of course author CL Matthews loves to play with my poor heart and emotions. This book puts you in a roller coaster of emotions, the story continues with Leia and Brax coming back from Puerto Rico. And of course you can forget Daddy Sy, I missed him so much. The story gives you whiplash from past to present but in a good way, and that ending gahhh another cliffhanger. Can’t wait for more of this story.
