Ivy has grown up in the rock music lifestyle, her mother was the lead singer in one of the most popular bands of her time. Meeting famous people does not faze her at all. She is very close to her Uncle Tommy, her late mother’s brother, so often attends gigs that he is backstage at seeing as he too works in the music industry.
It is at one of these gigs that she first crosses paths with Gage. Actually, crossing paths is not really the best way to describe the heated and sexy tryst they have in a closet but it is what it is. Ivy prefers a no strings attached, one time only sort of arrangement when it comes to her sexual partners. It means nothing deeper can grow and she would rather keep things simple.
Gage felt like he had an out of body experience after his moment with Ivy and he has never been able to get her out of his mind. However, since then she has now been in a casual fling with his bass player so sadly his experience with her will have to only ever be a one off moment.
After tragedy hits the band, Gage and his band mates are having a time out at Tommy’s holiday home in Hawaii when Ivy appears. She too is having some time out in a place that holds lots of fond memories of her late mother. So much has happened in the last few months and she really needs the support of her uncle for now.
Gage cannot take his eyes or mind off Ivy, she is even more gorgeous than he remembered. He has this unexplainable need to protect and care for her. He wants to wrap her up in his arms and never let her go. Ivy is not quite on board with this version of Gage but she also feels the crazy, undeniable pull that still exists from two years ago.
‘Did you know that when two stars collide, they don’t explode? They can either connect or collapse.’ I don’t know why I tell her this, other than I feel as if Ivy and I are two stars circling one another. I want us to collide.’
Life is a bit more complicated for Ivy at the moment but Gage seems hell bent on proving to her that he sees a future together with her. Tommy is not on board with Gage’s interest in Ivy, he is very protective of his niece. Gage is determined to show not just Tommy but Ivy that he is all in and is a man who she can rely on.
I went for another dive into my TBR this past weekend and this emerged from the depths. Not a very long story but the perfect length for a Saturday afternoon.
Never fall in love with a rockstar, you'll never fall in love with anybody, ever again. “You sing pretty songs, and we mortals fall for all the romance in them.” Another stellar love story by LB, a follow up of the Collision books, which have been my fave. This book is where it all started. It takes us back to the start. A story full of hope and trust, set amidst tricky and insecure scenarios, it re-instates faith in serendipitous Love
Gage Everly and Ivy Carrigan are meant to be, albeit after crossing roadblocks of garangutan proportions. She's on her way to meet Gage when fate intercepts. Actually a team member and her path veers away permanently. Gage is swoonworthy. I mean a guy who loves ALL THE PACKAGE completely. He's stuff of dreams, a perfect bbf
Wow, another amazing book by L.B. Dunbar. I finally got to read Ivys and Gages story after meeting them in After Care and desperately waiting for it. And I'm absolutely pleased and satisfied 😍.
For me L.B. Dunbar is the queen of over 40 romance BUUUUUUT let's be honest, she can write everything and I would read and love and recommend it.
I love everything about this story. The slow burn, the anticipation, the fact, that Gage is so sure about his feelings and Ivy's the one struggling to let it happen. I love that they are so "normal", although they are rich and famous. This family (by blood and the chosen members) is great with and for each other. Oh and Tommy 😍, he's my hero 😉. There are so many emotions and devotion and so much love.
This is absolutely a stand alone novella but if you have read After Care, then you will remember meeting Ivy and Gage. This is how their story began, before After Care. Ivy grew up in the rock star world, and because of this she doesn't know who she can truly trust or even believe. She has been struggling and now that she has an even bigger problem, she truly doesn't know where to turn or what to do. Gage has wanted Ivy from the moment he saw her. He just never thought he would have another chance. But finding out her secret? He decides he will be the one to be there through thick and thin. And to finally show her just what they can have together.
When I read After Care I was blown away with Tommy's story (and he is still my first love!) but I also wanted to know more about Ivy and Gage, along with the rest of the band. This book? This book in no way disappoints! One thing that everyone needs to remember is that this book takes place way before After Care, it's the story of HOW Ivy and Gage met and made a life together. So don't expect to see other characters than the band, Ivy, and Tommy. Ivy is a troubled woman but knowing how her mother was, I truly can't blame her. Tommy is most definitely the father figure in her life and I love that about him!! Gage is one of the most laid back and loving people I have read about in a very long time. Ivy and Gage together? They are absolutely brilliant and beautiful! For two people who have their issues and need's to realize that they can depends on each other and truly trust each other? I loved it! A great read with great characters! Now I need stories for the rest of the band!!
I loved absolutely every moment of this story and learning about Gage and Ivy. Gage was completely 100% swoon-worthy in his desire and need for Ivy...every last bit of her. To Gage, she was the one that got away, and his persistence to make sure that didn't happen again was so sexy.
I enjoyed reading about Ivy's relationship with her uncle and the relationship Gage and his bandmates had with Tommy as well. This book exuded a deep theme of a family that was felt throughout the entire book.
I read this book in one sitting and found it to be very engaging. Ivy and Gage have amazing chemistry and I absolutely loved reading about their happily ever after and their somewhat bumpy but exciting journey to getting there!
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to see how Gage and Ivy began, how they collided into one very bright, loving, and shiny star. These characters have been there from the beginning of the sexy silver fox series starting with After Care and their love for each other was front and center in their relationship. This book included a major jaw-dropping shocker for me that I never would have guessed. For a young couple to survive and thrive in the world of rock ‘n’ roll is an amazing feat, but Gage and Ivy have done just that.
Gage Everly turned out to be far more of a man than I ever imagined. He is not your everyday rock star. He manages to prove his love and devotion to Ivy and his family ten-fold. He didn’t have a picture-perfect childhood but that did not stop him from wanting more for himself and his own children. Watching him devote himself to putting Ivy’s well-being ahead of everything else made my heart swell.
Collide is a beautiful romance that opens your eyes to everything love can and should be. It doesn’t matter where something starts, it’s what happens next and where it ends that makes all the difference.
I can definitely recommend this book for anyone looking to a feel-good read that includes real-life issues and complications to be overcome on the journey.
Gage and Ivy first appeared in After Care, as secondary characters. This is their story, set several years earlier, although it can be read as a stand-alone.
Ivy is the daughter of a famous rock goddess; Gage is the lead singer of the up and coming band supporting her latest tour. A random hookup between them leaves a lasting impression on Gage, but Ivy subsequently receives bad news and their paths don’t cross again for a couple of years.
When they do, Gage feels like this is his second chance with her. Ivy doesn’t know how to love; her mother was never a good example of how to conduct a lasting relationship.
Gage goes all out to prove himself to her, and some of those moments in this book caused my heart to swoon. He’s such a romantic character, something I didn’t expect a rock star to be.
Slowly, Ivy learns to let Gage in. There are some complicating factors, but I’m not going to reveal them because, spoilers. But rest assured, a happy ending is on the horizon.
This is a lovely, sweet romance with some seriously hot chemistry between the two main characters. It’s a refreshing change to have a romantic hero and a reticent heroine, when it’s usually the other way around. A really great read.
Swoon ❤️ every woman needs a Gage Everly to come and sweep her off her feet! Collide is hot and steamy, tender and sweet, everything a romance should be! I received an advance copy for an honest review.
OMG I am so in love with Collide! I have been waiting for Gage and Ivy's story for what seems like forever and it's just so them! L.B. gives us the perfect story of origin that is so befitting this couple. Even though some of it surprised me at first, I really could not have seen things going any other way. I so enjoyed finding out how they met and ultimately how they end up the amazing couple we meet in After Care. Their story is sweet, sexy and heartfelt but not always easy; yet it is easy to see that everything they go through is totally worth it because they belong together. I knew I would love Gage from what I had already seen of his actions with Ivy in After Care, but trust me, after reading how he gets the girl, he will make you totally swoon! I want more! I need more!I want more Gage and Ivy!! Maybe we can revisit them again soon and see how things are going.
Every book just seems to get better! I love this author & everything she writes! I loved Gage & Ivy when we met them in After Care, but finally hearing their story.... wow! It seems like they have the deck stacked against them. Up & coming rock star meets the daughter of a rock legend, she has seen how everything can go wrong. Relationships? She has seen how that turns out. No thank you!! But, Gage & Ivy, they are on a collision course. It seems inevitable. Having read the silver fox books gives you knowledge of some of the characters in this book, but this can definitely be read as a stand-alone. It is a must read!
Collide is the perfect background story for Gage & Ivy! It’s beautiful, sweet, HOT and AMAZING! After reading this you’ll fall even more in love with these two! L.B. you keep blowing me away with your amazing stories! Thank YOU! ♥️
You know an author really cares about her readers when she writes the book her fans begged her to. We first met Ivy Carrigan and Gage Everly in After Care - Tommy Carrigan's story. I, along with countless fans, found them so fascinating, we needed their book. And at last, here is Ivy and Gage's story. COLLIDE stands entirely on its own and it takes place before After Care and the rest of the Sexy Silver Foxes series. Although COLLIDE is described as a novella, I consider it a shorter-length novel; it's way over 200 pages and meaty.
I will not summarise COLLIDE; I think it's better to go in blind. It is a rock romance that rings true because L. B. Dunbar truly captures the essence of the rock world and rock musicians in all its passion and craziness. Now, the first chapter could scare off some readers; it's seriously in your face, but do continue because it all will start to make sense with chapter two. Ivy is seriously messed up.
When it comes to rock star romances, I'm extremely picky because they often feel fake, and it's definitely not the case here. I'm not overly fond of angst and drama unless it's particularly well done, and Ms. Dunbar hits all the right notes: COLLIDE is epic!
"She was dressed in sadness." What a glorious sentence that described Ivy so well when we first meet her. Ivy had a tough life with her rock star mother; she never really learned to cope with the instability, she never really knew normal. Her uncle Tommy, a former rock star, has always been her rock, the father she never really had. In Gage, she finds someone who accepts who she is and who understands her. I expected fireworks and lots of sexy times, and there are plenty of them, what I did not anticipate was such a powerful and emotional story. I was glued to my ereader, and consumed by this fabulous romance. I also very much appreciate the fact that every character remains true to how they're portrayed in the other books. We get to see why Gage is so protective and possessive, what makes Ivy tick, and how it all worked out with Tommy. Besides Gage, the lead singer of Collision, we get to meet/meet again band members Jared and Petty - whom I adore.
I was so much looking forward to COLLIDE, I was so afraid it would not live up to my expectations, but it's everything I hoped it would be, and much, much more! If you enjoy rock star romances, COLLIDE is one book you will not want to miss!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
COLLIDE is a rockstar novella. It's kind of a spin-off/prequel of AFTER CARE which features Tommy Carrigan but no worries, it can be read alone!
Ivy Carrigan is rock n roll royalty. She's the daughter of the infamous Kit Carrigan and the niece of legendary Tommy Carrigan and she's about to finish her degree in music therapy. You'd think her life was perfect but nothing is that easy. Running into rocker, Gage Everly, is like an explosion, one that'll change her life forever.
The romance between Gage and Ivy literally starts with a bang that brings them together briefly before they drift apart. When they meet again on vacation in Hawaii, their relationship builds much slower but it's still super hot. Without giving too much away, I'll say that Ivy had built a wall around herself a mile high and with good reason. She actually had a pretty tough past and she needed that wall to protect her fragile heart. Don't give up on Ivy! I know some readers might be turned off by her circumstances but this is absolutely a great story about true love, regardless of your past.
Now Gage. Oh my goodness, Gage was totally swoony-licious! Talk about the perfect book boyfriend. He never gave up on Ivy, not once. Gage was intent on winning Ivy's heart and I loved how he remained so loyal and trusting in his decision to make Ivy his. He was charming, patient, loving...like I said, swoony-licious!
This is a novella but reads more like a full length novel. I'm glad we got to meet the younger Tommy but also stoked to learn more about the other band members. And I'm hoping that Ms. Dunbar gives us more of Collision. Told from dual POVs with a delightful end. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Looking for a committed hero from page one? I present to you Gage Everly from L.B. Dunbar’s COLLIDE. He may be young but his focus is unwavering in its determination that Ivy Carrigan knows exactly how he feels about her.
I thoroughly enjoyed Gage and Ivy’s story. I know them from Dunbar’s Sexy Silver Foxes series but here we go back in time to see how they met and fell in love.
Theirs is not a smooth romance: both are trying to move on after losing people in their lives, their future plans are seemingly at odds and they both have a public persona that often results in external pressure from people who have vested interests.
With all of this, what I enjoyed about the story is that Dunbar never took focus from our couple. She made them real. They argued, they loved, they were uncertain, they had good intentions that didn’t always go to plan but always, always, there was a lure, a pull that held them together.
I enjoyed getting to know Gage’s bandmates, Jared and Petty, better and of course Ivy’s Uncle Tommy is always a treat. It was great to see him in this story that takes place prior AFTER CARE.
I believe COLLIDE is meant to be a novella, but it’s longer than some novels I read. This is not a complaint. Consider it a forewarning to find a comfy chair and set aside enough time to read it; you’ll likely want to finish it in one go.
"When two stars collide, Ivy, they either collapse or merge to form something better. You and me. We collide, and we'll be so much more. Together."
Gage has wanted Ivy from the moment he saw her, and from the tryst in the closet. Gage never thought he would have another chance with Ivy. However, he finds himself going after her when they were both in Hawaii at the same place. Gage has found out a secret, and he wants to be the one to be there through thick and thin for her.
Tommy, Ivy's uncle was in his own band, as well as her mom's band. Gage and his band want Tommy to manage their band, but, Tommy isn't sure about it. He has been helping them, but, mostly they are on their own.
Ivy learns to let Gage in. Ivy has a hard time letting anyone past her guard in her heart and head. Gage goes after that barrier, and breaks in!
I did receive a free ARC copy. I am freely leaving an honest review.
When I read After Care I didn't just fall in love with Edie and Tommy, I wanted to know more about Ivy and Gage. They made an impression on me, even though they were secondary characters in the story.
Well Ms. Dunbar came through beautifully with Collide! We get Ivy and Gage's story! This story takes place years before After Care.
Ivy is trying to recover from the death of her mom. She is also coming to terms on the situation she finds herself in and what that means for her future. I could feel her struggles, her fear for the future and her place in the world. She had an extraordinary upbringing, being the daughter of a rock star and that has molded her into the person she is today.
Gage, oh my me....what a hero is he?!? The first time he collides (wink) with Ivy, sparks fly and that chemistry stays with him for years. When Ivy's news breaks, he truly steps up like a champion. He is there for her even when she is pushing him away.
This is definitely a slow burn novel, but it's an amazingly agonizing burn and it's so swoony to read! I loved the stipulation that Gage gave Ivy. I was cheering for them until the very end!
This just story makes me want to go back and re-read After Care. In fact, I think I will!
In Collide, we are reintroduced to Gage and Ivy from Aftercare, starting with the first moment they meet. I found Collide to be a sort of a Rockstar Role Reversal romance where Gage, the aspiring Rock Star is the steady part of the relationship and Ivy, a Rock Princess, is the troubled soul. From the start you see the chemistry between the two characters but time and circumstance come into play in a variety of ways that lead to a very touching and very different kind of love story. I love the rhythm that the author uses to tell her stories and am looking forward to reading about how the other members of Collide find their futures as well. If you have read Ms. Dunbar’s other Silver Foxes of Rock and Legendary Rock Star stories you will find a few nice little Easter Eggs that will make you smile. If you haven’t read them yet, what are you waiting for?
This book had everything! Sweet, Sexy and a bit emotional at times. But above all a romantic rocker!! Gage Everly made me swoon with his tenderness, his patience and his bit of an alpha side that would sneak out occasionally. We met them in another book (AfterCare) but we didn't know their story. And what a story they had!! They definitely didn't have a conventional start, there really was nothing conventional about their relationship. Except they had a connection and were drawn together. Ivy had a secret a jaw dropping secret (if you read AfterCare). A secret that led to me falling for Gage right along with her. Actually she had 2 secrets when she revealed the second one I was in tears and fell harder for Gage. Seriously I went head over heels for this boy. He is perfect!!! This book is why I love reading romance. I get lost in the story and get all mushy feeling inside. I finished and just sighed and smiled.
Oh, yes! This book has everything I love about romance: gorgeous rock stars, intelligent banter, mischief, and most of all, a super romantic story of two characters that belong together against all odds.
Ivy is Tommy's niece (remember him from AFTER CARE!). He is so set on protecting her it is very difficult for her to date normally. Also, those men who would approach her would only do it because of her famous mother and uncle. Meeting Gabe in a hallway right before a concert, she and Gabe find each other relieving an itch that must be scratched, only for Ivy to run off and ignore Gabe from that point on. To Gabe, this collision changed his life forever. No other woman could possibly make him feel the way Ivy did that momentous night. Now, Gabe waits to see if Ivy will give him a chance to get to know her better. But something always gets in the way.
Amazing romantic story you will not soon forget.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Two words. Gage Everly! Gage is like the picture perfect book boyfriend! I loved this book and devoured it almost in one setting. If you haven't read the SilverFoxes series by L.B. Dunbar--do yourself a favor and read those as well but Gage appears in them throughout some of the books. It was nice to see Gage's and Ivy's story come to life since I took Gage to be an asshole at one point. Boy did he prove me wrong in this book. He is so attentive, so passionate, so emotional and sexy as ever.
I think some readers would be thrown off by his attentiveness to Ivy but I loved every bit of it. Ivy is pregnant with another man's baby but Gage doesn't care at all. He stands his ground and proves to Ivy that he will be the man she wants and needs in her life. He even holds out on giving her the d but he makes up for it in every other way until she marries him.
I just loved everything about this book and I'm glad that I didn't skip on this novella!
This is an amazing novella, giving us background on Ivy, Tommy's niece as well as Kit Carrigan's daughter! Ivy is a lost soul, finding emptiness in each hookup she has. One night she has a one and done with Gage, because she's angry with her family for not telling her about her moms condition getting worse. Ivy thinks she will never experience love, she wasn't raised that way. Not much of a role model to follow in her mom. She makes mistakes, and one big one has uncle Tommy scrambling to protect her. Gage also has a troubled past, but that one encounter with Ivy has always stood out to him as the best thing, even though it was fast. When he see's her again 2 years later, his feelings haven't changed for her, he wants her, and he'll do whatever he has to to win her over! Read along and experience their journey in this amazing novella! 5 stars for this one! Grab it and don't miss out!
Ivy's mom is a rock and roll legend and she seen how her mom was with men. Can hear her mom to this this day saying not to let a man into her heart. Ivy doesn't trust women to be a friend, let alone a man be anything more than a body. She'll use the man but not trust them with her heart. When she meets Gage, he's just one more man that she doesn't trust.
Gage hasn't forgotten Ivy and wants to be more to her than just a body. He's got her work cut out for him and he'll do what it takes to show her he's more than just a pretty face. He'll prove to her that he's in it for the long haul. I absolutely adored that he showed her patience, showed her it was more than just sex but it was also the getting to know each other.
I absolutely loved their story and thought aww in quite a few places.
Absolutely fell in love w/ Ivy & Gage in After Care, which is Ivy's Uncle Tommy's HEA. This story takes place a couple years before Tommy's, and (I believe) was created because so many fans of Tommy, Edie, and the stories that came after them, wanted to know more about these two young people.
Their story isn't easy, but it is full of the beauty that this author excels at. We get to know their hearts, we get to know their struggles, we get to know more about Gage's band mates, and we also get to know more about how Tommy came to manage Collision. All in all, a highly enjoyable (and STEAMY) story, and it gets two thumbs up from moi! : )
Loved the push and pull between Ivy and Gage and how they worked thru the issues of to have a relationship or not. Gage just had to have the strength and wisdom to show Ivy that he was all in and whew, what a workout he had. Loved it!!😍😍😍
I throughly enjoyed Collide. It was a good addition to the series. We get to see what draws Ivy to Gage and vice versa. Their passion and angst was heartbreaking to read at times but Gage knew who he wanted and wasn't going to be deterred from getting his HEA.
I was provided a copy of this book for a honest review
I loved Ivy and Gage's romance. Not conventional by any means, but perfect for them.
Gage is an absolute sweetheart. It took him so long to break down Ivy's walls, but I was so glad he didn't give up. She really needed a guy who would put her first and love her for her.
By the time I finished this one, I had the urge to go back and re-read After Care.
Collide is not a stand-alone novella. Gage and Ivy first appear in After Care, the first book in the "Romance for the Over Forty" series by L.B. Dunbar. (A total favorite series of mine!) I was so excited to finally read the origin of Gage and Ivy!! Gage is the quintessential young 20s rock star with amazing dark hair, a lean muscular build, and the heart of a romantic. Ivy is petite, blonde, gorgeous, and steals Gage's breath away. I was surprised to find that this is a romance that spans years. Their first meeting is definitely explosive! Yet, they can't quite completely forget each other. And since they run in the same circle, it's very hard to forget!
What did I love about Collide? It's so excellently done. The way Gage loves Ivy is just... SWOON. I think every woman wants a man as intense, thoughtful, and loving as Gage. Ivy is just as aware of their chemistry, but she's afraid and second-guessing herself a little. And L.B. Dunbar knows how to write love scenes that will leave you more than breathless... Collide is such a sweet, sweet story that you won't want to miss! 4.5 stars
After reading After Care, the book where we first meet Ivy and Gage, and Uncle Tommy (it’s his story) I was dying to know how these two found each other. LB did not disappoint with their story of two shining stars who collide. Ivy Carrigan, the daughter of the famous Kit Carrigan, an niece to Tommy “Lawson Colt” Carrigan, has lived the rock-star life. She’s been surrounded by fame and fortune, and loss. So much loss. She is a lost star trying to find her place in the universe. Gage Everly, up-and-coming rock star has his future ahead of him, and he is bound to shine bright. When these two collide, they will either crash and burn, or make something even better. These two made sparks fly from their very first meeting. You just knew they were going to be something amazing. I loved that no matter how hard Ivy pushed away, Gage just fought that mush harder to convince not only her, but a very doubtful Uncle Tommy, he was real. It made it that much sweeter when they did finally get together. I’m so excited to get the first installment of this new series, and can’t wait for the stories of the other band members.
