Jack Carter’s got what most people would consider a pretty good life. He has a beautiful wife, two young kids, a modest home, and a steady job. But he’s got one big problem. The bills are piling up and he’s falling behind on every payment imaginable. He feels he’s running out of options. His old life is starting to look pretty good again.
Dominic Cirella’s got what most criminals and cops alike would consider one of the top crews in the area. If there’s a big job, he’s got the crew to handle it. But he’s got a problem too. One member of his crew has grown too hard to handle and Cirella feels needs a replacement.
Cirella’s number one option is to replace his crew member with a former member of the crew. The only one who escaped jail time and started a new life, Jack Carter. If Cirella can get Carter on board, then they’ll both have a problem together. Can they pull off an armored car job while under police surveillance?

Another great book by Mike Ryan. The Crew kept me hooked from start to finish. The back-and-forth dialogue between the characters is sharp, quick, and exactly what you’d want in a high-stakes thriller. Ryan knows how to pace a story—one chapter pulls you straight into the next, and before you know it, you’ve burned through half the book without realizing it. The action is gritty, the chemistry between the crew feels authentic, and the tension never lets up. If you enjoy fast-moving plots with plenty of twists, this one is a can’t-miss. Easily another five-star read for me.
Jack Carter, after meeting his now wife, went straight. Prior to that he was part of a crew that pulled off very successful robberies. Between meeting and marrying Stacey, the crew, with the exception of Jack, was incarcerated. When they linked up again Jack was not part of it. He was replaced by a man who didn’t follow directions and did stupid things. When he was arrested after a traffic stop he, to cover himself, told the Police about the crew. This is the story about their next job and bringing Jack back in. It is decent reading and exceptional planning. Thanks to the author and publisher for an e-galley for an honest review.
Sometimes the bad guys win, sometimes they don't. The Crew is an action and adventure novel featuring a crew of thieves and robbers and their perspectives on crimes while pursuing various jobs. Their leader and boss is a street smart ex-con who knows the system and engages in a cat and mouse game with the cops. Will this next high risk job be their last with the cops got on their trail?
This one shot novel was different from what most readers are used to from Mike Ryan, but his style of writing is familiar throughout the book which makes it a good read for fans of his books. Recommended.
The story is fairly good, it took a long while to build up to what the crew was going to do, and then the book ended...just like that. I think there could have been more action given to the ending.
