"I love these stories. They are teeming with inventive ideas about a future where technology has increased our isolation, but we still strive for connection." - J Moira About the of shows such as Black Mirror, The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, will enjoy Mark Le Dain’s dark satirical collection of stories, Dreamtime.
Dreamtime is a collection of 19 tales set in the near future where a person’s life is monitored, influenced, and sometimes even crafted by the technology we both love and hate.
From stories of people condemned to live within their carbon footprint and clones that expand the empires of only the wealthy (duplicating both their good traits and bad), to stories of a future where a market exists for practically anything, including your life – Mark Le Dain’s disturbing “slices of life” have the potential to awaken the technophobe in all of us.

"The stories are original, thought-provoking, and full of twists and turns. Each story feels like it could be expanded into an entire book of its own." - Erica Virtue

Ender's Game meets Black Mirror. Each short-story is thought-provoking, fast-paced and entertaining. Le Dain masterfully displays a deep understanding of the human condition, which is stress tested in the new worlds that he creates. Full of complex characters, humor, and just the right amount of darkness, "Dreamtime" will expand your mind and entertain you until the end. Highly recommend!
Fantastic book! I must state that I am an early reviewer of this book, but I enjoyed every page. This collection had a lot of short stories that reminded me of the literary version of the tv show "Black Mirror". The stories did not spoon feed, once you realized the ending of the situation, the story ended. I like not having to read a big closure when I already figured out how it will end. Also, many of the stories were not predictable. The final story was the longest, and it reminded me of the YA book "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner. I haven't read a book that quickly in a while. A real page turner!
this is a collection of one to four page stories. Most involve characters who do not get the ending that they were expecting. this is not a book for people who like happy or pleasant endings. also some of the stories seem to be just a beginning or a middle or an end. so read at your own choice.
the last story in the book is more of a novelette or short story. this is much more detailed and includes some well written characters, though the end is again odd considering the rest of the story.
Dreamtime is a collection of stories offering bite-sized glimpses into a variety of troubling futures. Perfect for lunch break reading! Every story offered chilling and fascinating perspectives that held me long after I’d finished reading. This is a collection that’s easy to tear through at light speed, but keeps your mind churning long afterward. An absolute delight to read!
This collection of short stories is entertaining, fast paced and eerie, all at the same time. The stories and characters sit with you after you've finished reading, you can't get them out of your head. What seems at first like a collection of great fantasy, becomes more and more plausible as you read. Why hasn't this collection been made into a tv series? Great escapism, but also thought provoking. I'm looking forward to more from this author!
These are the kinds of stories that book clubs were made for. Thought provoking, engaging and entirely unique, each fantastic story and the worlds they weave demand to be discussed. A 'must read' for anyone that wants to both enjoy a book while reading it and then have it stick with them long after they have put it down.
I thought this collection of stories was fantastic. The dystopian worlds described could just as easily be what we're headed to. Each story was appealing in its own unique way. This is a great choice for science fiction lovers.
*I received a copy of this book for free. The review is my own, honest and unsolicited.
I really loved the stories in this collection. Each story was unique and thought-provoking. I flew through the book, enjoyed every story, and each story left me with a vivid picture of the possible future. I highly recommend this book!
