Lisa Brenninkmeyer is the founder and chief purpose officer of Walking with Purpose. A convert to Catholicism, Lisa created her first Bible study in 2002 out of a desire to see Catholic women come to know Christ personally. In 2008, Walking with Purpose became a fully independent non-profit organization with 501c(3) status and a mission of helping every Catholic woman and girl in America to open her heart to Jesus Christ. Today, over 40,000 women, young women and middle school girls participate in WWP Bible studies in 44 states.
Lisa has authored 16 Walking with Purpose Bible studies which have received the Imprimatur through Archbishop Lori of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Her first book, Walking with Purpose: Seven Priorities that Make Life Work, is a popular title published by Beacon Publishing for the Dynamic Catholic Institute.
In 2012, Lisa was recognized by the Catholic Leadership Institute as a National Catholic Leader, and in 2014 and 2015, she was invited to present at the Amazing Parish Program’s national conferences. Lisa was also a presenter at the USCCB Convocation of Catholic Leaders in July 2017, and a speaker at two Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) national events in 2018 and 2019. Lisa has been a guest on a number of radio, television and podcast shows as well.
Lisa holds a B.A. in psychology from St. Olaf College. She and her husband Leo (pronounced Lay-o) have seven children and reside in St. Augustine, Florida.
Lisa's Bible studies require much reading, thought, and soul searching. It's obvious that she does much research and she does a great job of including relatable stories from her own life to illustrate the points she's trying to get across. The videos with her more recent books, such as this one, in which she is speaking to an audience instead of just to the camera are much improved. However, she simply isn't a dynamic speaker. She does, however, have many good things to say, so it's worth taking the time to listen to the accompanying videos even if her manner isn't naturally engaging.
Completing a 17-week Bible Study in the midst of a pandemic was challenging but I am glad I stuck with The Walking With Purpose commitment. The Book of Hebrews is relatively short but it is super packed with Old Testament references that deserved to be reflected upon. Also, it's full of practical tips for living a faithful Christian life.
I really enjoyed this study on the Letter to the Hebrews. The author provided a lot of background historically and helped tie that to the specific content of why things were explained the way they were in the letter. I would definitely recommend.
This study of the letter to the Hebrews contains a close reading of the New Testament book, with many additional references, applications to life, prayer, and journaling.
Beautiful study of the book of Hebrews! I completed this book with my Walking With Purpose sisters at church. I love the way Lisa guides me through each study with compelling questions and helping me to become more acquainted with scripture and my bible. This study was rich in both Old and New Testaments, and we learned about the Old and New Covenants. I would highly recommend this study to anyone, especially if they were wanting to grow in relationship to God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Finished this in January -oops! - such a good study of the book of Hebrews. Very deep and a lot of homework but worth it . Our women’s group went through this book and you also get access to some talks to watch on a few chapters instead of homework. I’d like to do more of these Walking with Purpose studies in the future .
Grounded in Hope is a challenging Bible study taking a DEEP dive into the book of Hebrews. A 17 week lesson that wrestles with the question “If God loves me and wants me to be happy and fulfilled - then why is this hard? This book helps to unwrap a blueprint to navigate the difficulties and sufferings that we will all face in this life. Teaching us through Gods word how to be and remain grounded in Hope. I walked through this study as a table leader at my parish. This is a dense study! The author warns you on the first page of this. It was a good reminder for us when our group arrived on the struggle bus a couple of lessons in. With Grace and grit we pushed through and we are all glad we did! We were not disappointed. Fixing my eyes on Jesus I’ve grown through this study. God is a little bigger this year.
Learned a lot about the book of Hebrews. I really enjoyed Lisa's connect coffee videos... she has become more vulnerable in her videos. We got into some really interesting discussions around the table
