Set in 1986, 'The Role Model ' a novella, is a gentle romance. It revolves around two beautiful young women, Suroor and Yasmin who seek love and acceptance. Suroor flees from an uncaring husband whom she fears of sexually exploiting her to curry favour with his boss. She takes refuge in Bombay with her cousin Yasmin who seems perturbed and trying to escape from the man she loves - the charming and amiable Afzal. Suroor meets and falls in love with Afzal's friend the debonair and aristocratic Haider Khan who is unaware of her past. When Suroor learns that Haider also loves her, she has to confront her past. Will her husband release her? And what about Haider? Will he accept her? While the protagonists grapple with their destinies, a larger drama unfolds in the public domain- the aftermath of the historical ShahBano judgement and its effects on various individuals.

A lovely book about two çharming ladies ,which once you start reading you can't just put down till you finish reading it
The book is very well written.It also deals with a very socially relevant issue pertaining to triple talaque as also women's dignity and self esteem particularly in Muslim community. It also stands for Women Empowerment
